Hi friends! Hope you enjoy the video. I had a lot of fun making these summer tote bags and plan on making more. The yarn I purchased only had limited colors but I do have a link in the description box to another brand that I'll be using next time. So many colors to choose from! It's also a mercerized cotton but made by Lion Brand. Are you ready for summer? 🏖🤩
@@angieh3036 oh good! I fell in love with it! I’ve used the smaller mercerized yarn for ornaments etc but didn’t know they made this thicker one! I’ll definitely be doing more with it! 🙌🏻
I am working on making two right now, one with thick yarn, one with thin yarn, one is going to be for school and the other is going to be for sleepovers! I think that you did a amazing job with explaining how to do this and I'm so glad that you did the tutoral, one of my friends made this, and sent me this video! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
This is one of my favorite crochet tutorials I’ve ever followed! I found the instructions to be very clear and easy to follow and the timestamps are a huge help when trying to make another one. I hope my friends and family like mesh bags, because now everyone’s getting one for the holidays!
Thank you for this tutorial. I finished my first bag and started the second one immediately. So fast and easy to make. I guess there will be a few more of them.
O my goodness golly gracious I can't wait to get started on this project...I do believe this is the easiest project to work and it doesn't look like it will take a lot of time to complete!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Roz!!!! 😊😊😊❤❤❤ Hi there Atlas and Biscuit!!!
Hi Terry! Thank you 😀 I hope you do give it a try - it’s really relaxing once you get to the body/sides. Atlas and Biscuit definitely enjoyed the helping with this one 😅😅🙄❤️
This was the first crochet project I've finished! It was super easy to follow and also easy to adjust thanks to your tips. I ended up making a smaller bag with a longer strap, so it's more of a cross body bag instead of a tote. I love it! :)
I made a smaller version of this in John Deere colors. Black bottom +a few rows, 4 yellow rows & then green for the rest. I did a yellow single crochet around the handle edges, then black slip stitch around that. So cute!
This is such a simple but effective pattern. It’s sophisticated and useful. Yay 👏♥️👏 as always thanks for providing us with fantastic patterns and amazingly clear instruction. 🙂
Thank you so much. I watched the entires video before staring and i am so excited to do this bag. I looked so fun to make and worked up so quickly and you ended up with the most beautiful bag. 😊
I am a semi beginner. I start many projects and finish none. This is my second finished project!!! This video was super easy to follow tbh thank you so much for this you have single-handedly restored my confidence in my abilities and now I will try to finish the rest of my projects LOL. Sending you love!!
i absolutely loved this tutorial!! before this i've only been able to make off sized blankets and scarfs'' but i just got done making this bagg and im in love with it did have a few minor mistakes but honestly cant tell in the end, i will definately be using this bag throughout this summer much love
Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I hadn't knitted for 15 years until I came across a bag like this on Pinterest and then found this video. You really made it look so easy that I started immediately and finished the bag in just a couple of days. New subscriber over here 😊 Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Hello Roz nice to see your hands at work & hear your voice . This is indeed a simple projrct which I've done before with bernart cotton yarn which had the pattern at the back . I will make yours as well seeing that plastic bags is fazing out . Nice seeing the boys today having fun hope you're doing the same too.
Newbie here. I’ve enjoyed watching your video twice (2nd time to check out your “purrsonal” assistant, as he/she not only supervised, but then put the yarn into his/her mouth to check the tension…). Many thanks for the vid. 🌷💖🌷
Hello, "grandson" Atlas. What a great helper you r to ur "Grandma". U r very cute. Roz, I really like this bag pattern. The base seems a little tricky, though. 😊
I just love this bag and can see so many variations and fun embellishments to add to the outside. I do have a question. I just grabbed a ball of cotton yarn last night to follow along with the video and really got into it... Sadly this morning I realise that I am not going to have enough of my original colour, so need to add a few stripes in another colour. Brcause the row starts before the corner, should I continue in the original colour till I reach the corner and then start the new colour? What do you suggest please? and thanks for your beautiful pattern!
I’m so glad you are giving it a try! That’s a great question. I think you’ll be fine starting where each new round begins since we aren’t working these rounds continuously (like amigurumi, for example) so it should’nt get crooked . 🤞🏻 But this is just in my minds eye. I would recommend you start your next round with the new color and see how it looks to you. Keep me posted, please, because this question might come up again and I’m sure your feedback would be helpful 💕💕💕
Thank you for the video i made it and it turns so pretty and useful, i used 4mm hook my bag turns smaller than your bag so i had to do more stitches in the stripe(the hand) ,you said 20 stitches and i did 24 stithes . Im Morrocan
Because I just started crocheting last October, this was a new tutorial for me. Unfortunately, my Hobby Lobby didn't carry that mercerized cotton brand so I went with the 24/7 yarn. It's working up well but much smaller than yours (partly because it seems thinner, and probably partly due to my tension). Should I jump to a 5.5mm hook to get a similar size result?
@@PlayHookywithMe Well, I learned a few things. First, Hobby Lobby does carry that yarn, they just renamed it and it doesn't say mercerized but the description on their website says it is. It's also in many more colors now. But, since I didn't learn that until later, I tried it with Bernat Maker Home Dec and a 4.5mm hook. It's not as lacy, but I think it will be a sturdy bag. Great tutorial!
❤love this video your a great teacher! ❤ I'm actually looking for a Seashell collection bag for my grandkids ❤ I'm wondering what stretchy yarn could I use? I'd definitely appreciate your input 😊 thank you so much
I would stick with this mercerized cotton because even though it doesn’t stretch a lot … it still stretched out with use. I used mine at the beach all week and it was great. I had 2 big towels in mine . I popped it in the dryer to tighten the shape back to normal after we got back. The yarn I recommend in the video would be great . Super durable and will hold up to repeated washing or water (seashell collection sounds like beach time to me) 💕
The shape and amount of stitches changes slightly to build the sides on R5 so the “base” (bottom) of the bag is a flat rectangle shape consisting of 4 rounds. Is that what you’re referring to?
Please be more specific … each yarn? You can take the numbers I provide and do an easy conversion . Just Google the number I provide and ask for the conversion in cm 👍🏻💕

Hi, i have created the body but seem to have an extra layer at the top? Is there a way to fix this?
I’m not sure what you mean by layer. . Is it noticeable ? Is it affecting placement of the strap? If it’s not, then I wouldn’t worry about it.
do you have to sew the sides when you fold it at 15:02 ??
No, we are working on the handles. You only seam where the time stamp says “seaming “- around 22 minutes 👍🏻
Has anyone used the Bernat Maker yarn for a bag like this? Thoughts?
Think I’m having a senior moment but how is it 4 rounds for the base? 😬
The shape and amount of stitches changes slightly to build the sides on R5 so the “base” (bottom) of the bag is a flat rectangle shape consisting of 4 rounds.
Is that what you’re referring to?
15:05 note for myself
Can i use Bernat crochet cotton?
Yes 👍🏻 💕
Atlas and Biscuits!
😻😻
How much "g" of yarn did you use
171 g brown one in video
161 g for the white one in thumbnail image (this one has a slightly shorter shoulder strap)
What does “4 base” mean at 15:01????
The bottom of the bag /the base of the bag. It consists of 4 rounds.
I’m just telling you the round amount you should have by this point 👍🏻
Is there a written pattern?
Not yet ❤️
I really appreciate the tutorial but the turning chain was so hard as a lefty 😭
