    wow! this is great. i made a steam power house, it made 1.7 million stress units but with this design is was simpler. I use an inter-dimensional lava transporter because when you put a hose pulley above a lava lake in the nether its consider infinite.

      Definitely, i want to do a video on ways you can do this as we made an infinite source on our server by filling a 1 chunk hole all the way to bedrock with lava source blocks, using a dripstone farm that took about 2 Weeks. I always forget about nether portal trains

    The math checks out for a 2:1 blaze ratio, about a 2 minute underlap for the blaze burner being empty though, a total of 140 seconds over the average refill speed of a cauldron, ~19 minutes. At a random tick rate of 68 seconds per tick, that is. Giving you a 1140 seconds of time between your last refill, lasting 1000 seconds per bucket amounts to about 2 cauldrons per blaze burner. Hopefully you just hit the good streak forever, but a 2 cauldron overfill can cover that cost entirely so either way your setup is perfect and I really love using it in my work ❤

    Building in 2024 in Create 0.5.1f: Definitely works*. You'll need two large waterwheels and 8 stages of reduction to get enough speed to kickstart it. After that, add a rotational speed controller to the top steam engines and then a couple of shafts and gearboxes into the vertical gearbox to keep it running.

      Problem was that when originally running off the power sources (had tried both a windmill then waterwheels) & got "overstressed" as (just NOT enough s.u. output) IMMEDIATELY so had to keep speeds INSANELY low.)

    I made an even better version of this using 2 lvl 9 generators side by side that produce nearly 300k SU. It's actually better than if I tiled 2 lvl 9 generators in the way you showed (Upscaled obviously) due to the fact that it uses a lot less resources for more SU. It only has one of those autofeeder mechanical arm things and overall uses less cogs and shafts.

      @mcskeeter5361 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      TLDR: Steam engines are used for powering a vast variety of machines at full capacity.
      For a bit of context, every machine in the Create mod requires Rotational Force in order to operate. This can range from fans, mechanical arms, presses, fluid pipes, mechanical pistons, etc.
      However, one isn't able to simply hook up a single water wheel and call it a day. Stress Units are this mod's measurement to how much stress/torque you're putting on your source of rotation. Different machines have different multipliers for how much stress output they have. For example, a Mechanical Press, having a 4x multiplier, will create stress units four times it's rotational speed input. Water wheels, which have a lower stress capacity, may become Overstressed if the mechanical press is using too high of an RPM.
      Overstressing a system freezes all connected parts until the build is modified to facilitate all the machines without going over the stress limit, yet slowing down machines to prevent overstressing is generally not optimal. Nobody likes slow machines, as it causes bottle-necks in production lines.
      Steam engines are really complicated yet useful machines that have incredibly high stress capacities, and are therefore highly sought after. Their high stress capacities allow savvy engineers to put out more rotational speed and therefore have all their mechanisms working at full capacity.

    Has anyone encountered an issue with the rate of lava collection? I find I need substantially more lava to keep the steam engine running, around 5-6 sources per burner. I'm playing on Vault Hunters, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

      I'm guessing what u mean is grass (that has the color/texture of the biome it's in) and moss blocks that look like grass and have several of grasslike properties but one singular color.

      You add a rotational seed controller to the water pump and set it to 255 so the water pump is faster, as just linking it is to slow and dries the engine out.

      @@OliverClark0907 yeah, it ultimately doesn't matter.
      Also, one thing I did was build up a jumper steam engine. It's a self sustaining steam engine that uses campfires as the heat source and generates 2048 SU, enough for half a module. If you hook it up right, you can use that half of the module to kick start the rest of the steam engines.

      Add another pump linked to the water pipe, and crank it manually to fill the tank so it starts the cycle. Make sure the Blaze Burners are fed before pumping water.

    Some constructive criticism:
    Could definitely be compacted with a lot of the piping done away with.
    Putting the engines on the top is very space inefficient imo.
    And lv9 engines are generally more bang for your buck as you get twice as much power with the same amount of supporting mechanisms ie pumps, mechanical arms, speed changers etc.
    And the lava system doesn't require 2 smart chutes. A single brass funnel will do. Nor do you need to use an item filter when you only are filtering for one item. You can place single items within the filter slot of a chute or funnel

    • @skeej_inc
      @skeej_inc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, though part of my design was keep it small so i could fit a larger number of the modules into one chunk, i have plans on making a V.2 design, so the criticism is much appreciated ❤️

    • @skeej_inc
      @skeej_inc  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You cant really see it in the video also, but with regards to the filtering, im using item filters as im having a bug in create lately where items render behind the chute texture and you cant see them clearly, it was for demonstration purposes so you could easily tell there was a filter there

      @@skeej_inc already got a lv 9 to fit in a 3x10x6 with cauldron supply.
      Usually my designs assume one has an infinite lava source as those are pretty easy to make even in the early game so I haven't worked with cauldron based stm plants in a while.
      Did notice the bug yes. Only commented on it because I went about 2 weeks before realizing you didn't need item filters myself.
