I was at the Shop today to get the unit1 helmet for stromer. I tried both sizes M and L for me the large size felt much better compared to the M size. Love the helmet❤
I'm pretty happy with my Unit1 helmet. Been rolling around with it or a while (I skipped the turn signals), the added weight really isn't signiicant enough to notice between that and all but the lightest or most minimal helmets. The only issue I have is the ventilation, as it gets kind of warm here in SE Arizona (though not as hot as Phoenix). I like having the awareness that if I biff, my partner will get a text telling her where to find my sorry self, she likes it even more than I do.
Nice to hear our thoughts line up the same! Yea, after actually wearing it a few times now, the weight isn't terrible...but it can get hot if your riding in direct Sun right now. I can't wait for this Arizona heat to go away...
Very crazy features I was NOT expecting but very interesting the crash feature and brake system with the lights are amazing to me. I love your input and videos.
The new Aura Helmet / Light system is a clean sheet design just completing it's Indiegogo run and starting to ship (barely) Aura dispenses with the multi-tiny RGB LEDS and goes with substantial .5 inch x 6-7 inch (my estimation) lights - ONE front, ONE rear and 2 magnetic mountable with permanent bike matching mounts and a recharge case like air pods or wireless Mic's use. Its bright, the helmet is SUBSTANTIALLY lighter at 370 Grams (13 ounces) to Faro's 580 (20 Ounces), and super ventilated. This is a different approach to Faro, which was cool but, in my opinion more wow factor than focus on function, which should be, in decreasing order of importance: 1. Physical protection 2. Visibility 3. Communication (signaling) The admittedly "cool" lighting animation on the Faro was fantastic, but did not add much to the 3 parameters I listed. Possibly adding "visibility/signaling" by nature of catching peoples attention. For those reasons, I passed on Faro. For the simplification, and focus on function, I am getting (backing) the Aura. The missing elephant NOT in the room is Bluetooth connectivity and speakers. That discussion would make my comment novel length, so I leave that for add-on modules.
@ThatsGinterEV They have clear, dark and Photochromic (darkens in bright sun) I personally love the open, almost ram-air design as I get hot when its barely warm out. There's a winter liner for cold days. The design is convention-breaking on many fronts. I hope it meets the hype!
Quality is really nice, just a pity the auto brake lights only work if the remote is mounted on a handle bar. Rainbow mode drains the battery in less than an hour
I saw your review and I liked everything about the Helmet. I set it up overall it is a good product, I have two issues the app only works part of the time the nav remote will not sinc to the helmet at all. I may have to return it but I really wanted to like it.
It looks good but I found it to be too heavy. Not something to ride around with during the warmer months because of the lack of ventilation. I could put up with the minimal ventilation during winter, but the weight was just too much on a long ride so it now sits at the bottom of my cupboard.
Any idea what form factor and chemical make up the battery is in that thing? I'm right ready about to e-mail them... I guess nobody knows, if you can't tell me! (Looked further into their website, says it's a Li-Po. Yikes... Hope they got a fire shield on it!)
Thx! Majority of talking head is a Sony a6600 camera body paired with Sony 35mm F1.8 prime. B-roll shots are usually other Sony primes as well, with the exception of one Laowa macro lens for close ups. More info in video description! (Also, just upgraded to the a6700 body 😉)
Solid review Ginter, nice work as always...the Unit 1 looks legit! btw....I finally uploaded an unboxing video for my GT to my channel...but it's not your usual unboxing though
Just watched it...totally agree on your points! It's definitely a fun device to take out camping/exploring, but also a useful tool for those long shots and can be used as a quick dolly cam! 🤙🏼
@@ThatsGinterEV Thanks for stopping over to watch ! Also good for errands and grub runs at home...bring home dinner from a local Mexican restaurant lots of times... just last night too😋...the chef there wants a One Wheel now
For me the App doesnt allow adding new presets. Nor does it allow activation of weather and light monitoring. The ride tracking function has been removed by U1 as they say no one uses it and other apps re better than this.
Is the magnetic buckle secure enough? I've had magnetic charging cables etc and have been THOROUGHLY disappointed by them. Someone please reassure me that it is secure....
hi anneeq008 - I hear ya...I also bought magnetic usb charging cables and some have fallen apart on me! This buckle system works differently. I've seen it on a few helmets and bags now, where the magnets primarily help align the buckle, but there is still a physical latch making it extremely hard to pull apart. In order to "release" the buckle, you actually have to push the 2 parts together first to unlatch. Hope this helps! 🤙🏼
Hey Trowa...yea, I have a hard time finding a good size helmet/hat myself. Usually small works for me. My head is about 55cm around the forehead. Don't forget it does have that tightening ratchet on the back too!
I've heard that too... I think they underestimated how popular they'd be... or haven't got a good grasp on manufacturing/shipping expectations. They did send out an email about another big shipment coming though.
Occasionally yes, but there are a few reasons I don't wear it that often. 1 - I realize that I only really need the lights if I ride at night, which is less frequent. 2 - The weight is still something that I can feel, and prefer a lighter helmet most the time. 3 - It's nice and more expensive then my other helmets, so I don't want to get it all scratched up lol.
The problem with this helmet is they’re not shipping anything but the blue color! The product got delayed 2 months and they do not tell the customers what’s going on. They kinda expect you to give them money and forget about the transaction. Although delays are expected, they don’t post any emails or any statement to tell the customers there is a 2 month delay. On top of the that, the company want you to promote their helmet, giving me discount codes for referrals, even though i haven’t even received mine yet
Hi Chang, I'm unaware of these issues, but I'm always open to hear of your experiences, good or bad. I guess I got lucky, as I wanted the blue one and they happened to have it. It's always a gamble with newer companies...especially those kickstarter/indiegogo ones, but at least it's a real product and they are delivering...just not on the scale of what a large company can do. I actually just got a promotional email from them today telling me that they sold out of their first 10,000 orders and "batch 2 pre-sale is here" . Note the keyword "pre-sale"... I'm not defending them, just calling what I see. I'm a consumer too...just cautiously optimistic. I do hope yours shows up soon, but remember, we all vote with our wallets!
@@ThatsGinterEV yeah, supply chain issues especially after covid is a real pain. I’m totally fine with delays, which is super common as you said for kickstarters and startups, but it’s their lack of communication. I emailed them many times and although they are super responsive, they only reveal major delays once asked upon, which is kinda like keeping customers in the dark.
Yeah ok how is the helmet waterproof if you have two long openings on top of it?! What happened when water enters the wholes? Water l3aking on my head! That’s not waterproof.

Appreciate the honest review!

Thanks so much 🙏🏼 always appreciate the positive vibes 🤙🏼
Definitely the next helmet I'm getting

Dang, that version looks sweet too! I could definitely use that clear magnetic visor when the trails get dusty out here and I'm tailing another rider!

It looked sweet when we rode together. Great review!
Thanks! 👍

Always top quality onewheel content
I just ordered one with the Black Friday deals
What was the Black Friday sale price?

If you’re not going to use it, would you take $50 for it? 🤔
Thank you for the review! And the discount code! Your review + the discount code made me buy it. I just subbed to your channel.
Much appreciated!! It's a dope helmet for sure, almost too nice cause I'm afraid of scratching it lol.
Very nice review and also quality production.
Very cool helmet! I might have grab one next spring .
They are definitely getting fancy!
Cool .. i noticed that it sits too high on your head . I reckon it would look better if it sits more flush on your head and lower.

That's amazing! Not quite sure if I'm ready for a super deluxe helmet yet. LOL
I hear ya - I almost don't want to wear this helmet cause it's so pretty and I don't want to ding it all up like I usually do...🤣
@thatsgrinterev hey off subject but can you tell me what camera and lenses you shout this on? Looks great! Brother

Can you make a review of xnito helmet?
For $149 I'm get it 😮
Good video very informative

Unfortunately, they've gone "radio silent" on their Torch Backpack Kickstarter page.
Nice review! You should also check xnito, they have a good helmet too
Yea - I dig their helmets too....they actually were a giveaway sponsor for Onewheel Arizona's 5th Anniversary Group Ride last month!

I got one is cool
I have an Afro, a tie dye bucket hat, Hawaiian shirts, and an Apple Watch….. I’m Mikey
they do say imitation is the biggest form of flattery lol... 😂
What were your head measurements? I feel like I'm at the border of small and medium your input could help my decision
Hey Trowa...yea, I have a hard time finding a good size helmet/hat myself. Usually small works for me. My head is about 55cm around the forehead. Don't forget it does have that tightening ratchet on the back too!
Any recommendations on sizing? Did you use the website’s sizing guide?
Ya, I used the site, but I also know I usually wear a small. Thankfully this helmet has that dial to get the fit snug if it's a little loose.
How does the alert system work does it just send a notice that you fell n can't get up? Or does it send out GPS coordinates?
When simply protecting your head isnt enough any more.
ha...right? It's the brain outside your brain...
@@ThatsGinterEV why do you need a second brain?
Great video and great review thank you. The comedy skit was really cringy 😅
I agree, not my best work...😅
I heard a bunch of people saying they ordered the helmet months ago and still haven't recieved it. Is anyone else having this issue?
I've heard that too... I think they underestimated how popular they'd be... or haven't got a good grasp on manufacturing/shipping expectations. They did send out an email about another big shipment coming though.
You still riding with this??

Thank you for so many comments to review. Supply chain appears better in 05/2023, as my green toned helmet arrives in 2 days.
Verify my account? Update firmware? For a helmet? You can keep it... I don't care how nice it is. What's next; upload myself and verify my ass? Lol
Yaaaa, I love me some techy smart gadget, but having an account for everything is quite annoying.
