  • The Metropolitan Transit Authority provides bus transit within the city. Routes utilize a hub and spoke method, centered around the Music City Central transit station in downtown. A rejected expansion plan included use of bus rapid transit and light rail service at some point in the future.

    Nice buses. A city the size of Nashville needs light rail
    Thanks Tim for this posting

      They proposed it but it was rejected by the most Nashvillians because of the cost.

      @@DNA_CountryBoi Unfortunately that is a problem in many cities.....cost and many people who don't want such things. Thanks for your input.

    Nice variety of buses in Nashville. Some places don't necessarily need rail transit, all that's needed is a good spot for a bus rapid route like the Health Line in Cleveland and it could work. I noticed some articulated buses with doors on both sides, just like the ones in Cleveland. Most of the single buses appear to be Gilligs. The color schemes are nicer and have more variety than Port Authority's one-color-fits-all red scheme. The only different color scheme on their system is the hybrid electrics which are green with some yellow flowered design on the outside. There were some buses with sky blue or yellow orange colors, but are transformed to red when they are rehabbed.

      Nashville is served by the Music City Star Commuter railroad

      @@Stevenlamb2I wish the Star would go south of the city. If it went down towards Franklin it would really help clear up some of the congestion there

      @@DNA_CountryBoi It was rejected because of the Koch brothers. They tried the same in Phoenix but thankfully we pulled through and told the Kochs to pound sand.

      @Benjamin Willis you're delusional if you think Nashville doesn't need mass transit bus/rail/BRT to be successful in the future look at cities like Chicago Boston Philadelphia San Francisco NYC DC, Cleveland Pittsburgh Atlanta Miami St.Louis these cities have the transit bones to continue to build upon and its a travesty that a large city like Detroit lacks any real mass transit system

    One time I visited Nashville over 15 years ago and I had to rely on the taxicabs to get me to and from the city limits. I was about six miles southwest of Nashville though.

    Definitely not like the busses in my dream. I dreamt I fell asleep on my local transit and ended up waking up stranded in Nashville and having to take the transit there to get around. They had these nice red non-bendy 50 footers with lots of seating inside (kind of like the red interior one you rode with all the seats widthwise only) and in addition to the regular front and rear door on the right side had a single middle door on the left for opposite side of the street pickups. So naturally I went looking for videos like you made here.

    love the purple/silver color scheme, dislike the Gillig buses lol. Also, curious and will find out why Nashville appears to have two bus services, WeGo and MTA

    • @DNA_CountryBoi
      @DNA_CountryBoi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nashville MTA is WeGo. MTA rebranded back in 2018. They're working to repaint the MTA buses in WeGo scheme. It's taking them forever but an example would be 2011 Gillig bus# 700/716 and 2013 New Flyer bus# 129 in the video

    If BRT was rejected, why do buses have doors on both ends?
