Yup he is so good. And lower mainland too so I hope to run into him and spar him. Want to see what it's like to face him. I know I'll lose but I think I can land something. Then again he trained at my first dojo and knows alot of my tricks I bet. Yeah I'll get my ass whooped but it'll be worth it.
This and yesterday's sparring techniques have been absolute gems. You could easily spend a week or more with each individual tip and learn SO MUCH. In fact, I think I will. I especially love the pivot off the round kick, kinda makes me wanna try and see if I could counter with a high kick on the same side as the block.
Gabe is the best. I watched almost all his shit. So so so useful. The day I saw him hold his fking roundhouse at head height I knew this was the man I want to learn from. I have 2 blk belts and his advice is something I can learn from. He's trained where I've trained lower mainland and he has a phenomenal reputation. One day I'll see him at seikido or maybe I'll go to Victoria. But my god is his advice so good. The leg stregth video was epic.i was in so much pain. Loved it. The fakes are sick Gabe those will work forsure. Love it. He's just so fluid. My favorite non mma fighter.
Thanks for the video. I'm a bit concerned about my first sparring session in the gym. nobody uses headguard and most of them throw heavy punches. will it be too awkward if I'm the only one who uses head guard?
@crabvakho If your a beginner you shouldn't be hard sparring with anyone. Light and technical is more then enough for what you need. Headgear doesn't do much for the impact force of a punch so don't rely on that for protection.
Abit off topic! I can do half a "high" kick if i jave my leg tucked, but once i extend my shin/leg i can barely extend it to hip height. But i can kick way higher than that if i use force and "swing" the leg. Seems to be something coming from the kneecap area, not sure if its calves or quads, or even tibitalus. Im very flexible here so i have no idea! Do you have any idea Mr Varga? So basicly my knee/hip area can do the high kick motion, but once i try to extend my leg its over haha
He has videos on how to kick higher. Mainly lots of practical strength work for your glutes, hips and hamstrings. The reason that its much harder when you extend your leg is the lever arm (your leg) becomes longer and gravity is pulling more of your leg down so you need stronger muscles to keep your leg higher when its extended verse when its not. Tldr: Check out his kicking higher video, answer = strength and flexibility training
Thank you! I watched his video and tried the workout, but i get some type of gnawing type of pain sensation in the kneecap area, IT band maybe! So im doing it 1-2 times a week instead of 3 for now! Its a really good video!@@G36-999
Now these are some amazing setups Gabriel, I cannot wait, to try them out in the gym, these will be great for me too, cause I wanted, to add some more setups, to my arsenal, to create more openings in sparring Gabriel! 🎉
If there was actual footage of the stuff you explain in the videos, your stuff would be the best on TH-cam (check how MMAshredded does it) I'll check your channel again in a few weeks hoping for improvements ;p
