- We have been able to show you many things on the channel and today's episode is no exception. The Maryland State Troopers have granted us exclusive access behind the scenes to them conducting their annual trainings. A couple of weeks ago, we brought you through a pickup and transfer of a trauma patient. Today they take it one step further. We get to hoist "patients" from a scene to the helicopter over 100' in the air. We start the video by talking to Trooper Hayley DasSoulas and her experiences in becoming a Trooper Medic for the Maryland State Trooper program.
If you are ever interested in joining the Maryland State Trooper team, please contact them via MDSP.org/careers.
For now please enjoy the episode and feel free to comment on what you see. The more "likes" and comments we get the more TH-cam will recommend our videos to others.
A special thank you must go out to all the crew from this day; Hoist Instructor Sgt Jenna Turner, Hoist Instructor TFC Matthew Walsh, Instructor Pilot Jude Gallagher, Hoist Instructor Sgt Stephen Reuter, along with Pilot Aaron Clarke, Pilot, Mark Peters, TFC Scott Boardman, Trooper Jakob Knopp, and Trooper Hayley Dassoulas.

Troopers 6 and 4 (4 is based in Salisbury) fly over me regularly. I've watched 6's daylight hoisting drills. Very impressive what they can do and how often they are doing it! Grateful to you all!
It’s great that Maryland State Troopers have the capabilities, equipment and training to do their own hoisting. Now you don’t have to wait on a secondary service.
MARYLAND STATE TROOPERS ,SECOND TO NONE ! PERFECT PRACTICE! LOVE IT ! THANK YOU BROTHER MIKE ! 🇺🇲 🙏
These air rescuers have got nerves of steel. When I was a volunteer firefighter in college, I remember having to practice setting up landing zones and then have to run for cover after setting the landing zone up.
I’m down the rabbit hole with this job. I’m getting my paramedic and fire cert soon in Michigan. Might have to move to Maryland in a couple years and try and get this job because my lord does that look awesome!
Good Stuff. Please keep the videos of the Maryland State Police Aviation Command coming.
I live in the county 6 is stationed at my mom did this very same training the other day. Seen them on scene a couple times as a ff
Great video Mike!! I learned some new things.
Another great video
Them AW139's Are Something!
Nice
GREAT SHOW!! HELOS R US!!
U need to come to Baltimore county and do police and our fire dept since our paid depts r fire and ems where I volunteer at our fd is right next to a airport that shares the Baltimore City and county pd air unit the county’s boat unit and the Maryland state troopers air units
Mike needs to be invited professionally.
Do MSP flight medics have a height and weight requirement?
I’m not sure but the helicopter has no limit
Yo you should do Orem Utah fire department plz
Send the invites to us to get it on the schedule
Love the vids , keep them coming . Just have to say the beginning interview was kind of odd , sitting in the car with the red dome light ?
Thanks for watching. The interview was supposed to give some context of the people behind the badge. Humanizing the badge 😉
Wow…
Red lights are used in both the PD’s and FD’s at night. Makes it easier on the eyes at night to see, especially when you wake up.
I remember watching a video where a patient was getting airlifted out and as they were hoisting her up she kept spinning I need an explanation and how come the same thing didn’t happen in this video also great video look forward to watching your videos every week

They use a tag line that is being held by ground personal . When lift completed the trooper in the heilo disconnects it and drops it back to the ground personal to be put back for the next lift.
You can see two people holding lines from each end of the patient's board as they start to lift.
Punctuation- use it my dude
It’s still weird that the state police are doing this instead of fire rescue. But the state police have way more funding.
They also have statewide jurisdiction instead of fire/EMS who are municipal
Normally its not fire rescue. But normally its a special agency, it is very weird.
State pays for all trooper flights so we do not have to worry about paying for them. They do all the med flights from scenes to hospital in MD
