Ghost Ring Dungeon deserves a heart JUST BECAUSE these donuts blocks in gaps. Creator wanted to make themed level, some people might like it, some might not, but respect for not using advantage of low visibility to troll people with botomless pits out of nowhere.
I can understand Dave's frustration, but it was honestly a good level. The low visibility is used for spookiness but it doesn't make the level unfair, like most low visibility levels do. The donut blocks are indeed a good sign of this!

Hey, the first letter in the words "ghost", "ring" and "dungeon" are the same letters in DGR!
The part from 13:34 to 14:00 was great! That "can we clutch this out?" followed by immediately taking damage was comedy gold!
I love DGR hitting his overwhelmingly gen Z audience with a classic Paula Abdul reference. Dad energy at its best.
Level: Has a theme with increasing difficulty but is dark.
Dave: This level is trash!
Level: Is literally just tonguing a key with Yoshi, but isn't dark.
Dave: Now this is a level!

Limited visibility is _always_ a bad design choice in games.
@@RabblesTheBinx I mean, if you're like 12 and even mild difficulty makes a game bad for you, then yeah, I guess.
@@Spacebums no, it's because it's purely artificial difficulty. It has nothing to do with your level-reading ability or skill level, it's just there to make things harder because the devs can't handle making actual challenges. It's bad game design for the same reason that overleveled enemies that require excessive grinding to beat is bad game design. It doesn't require more skill, simply more work. And that's boring.

It is funny how DGR always choose a few bad levels to entertain the viewers, then a few good levels to entertain himself.

Creators are making more tedious levels for DGR to play as DGR plays these levels.
I unironically play this almost exact setup on purpose. Dark ghost house levels on expert and super expert are my favorite things. Besides Action Man.
That yolo sequence is one of my favorite Mario maker moments of all time. Since this video was released a month ago, from a historical perspective that was a moment DGR definitely embodied the spirit of being a gamer.

Super Spooky, shown at 14:54, seems like a pretty good showcase of simple-yet-effective "slow deathtrap" rooms
also the dev exit (assuming the star-spike wall wasn't the only way) in that level was absolutely stupid. I'm glad you knew it!!
(I think "do the thing, put it on the thing, do the jump", or whatever the level with that description was called, might have been the best of the bunch)
Let's not blame the level for you running straight into the face of a Boo.
It might not be perfect but let's be fair here
I love low visibility levels when done right. They're usually punishing if you too far ahead too fast, and you can put items in the world to help light up the path so not everything is unknown. These kinds of levels can heavily reward taking a chance and exploring the unknown, too.

It is impossible for the worst or best of something to not exist as long as one version of that thing exists, as worst and best is not a fixed title, but as a comparison to all other current scenarios of that thing.

honestly you should consider playing low visibility levels more often. Low visibility doesn't necessarily mean bad, and oftentimes it's not the level's fault it gets overlooked. (the objectively bad ones and just get skipped with some constructive criticism)
of course, low visibility does also mean it can be hard to find them in the first place, but I'm sure there's other magic filters like this you can use to track them down
