  • Monome Norns/Fates controlled by ARC & 16n Faderbank. Performed Live.
    ARC controls 4 virtual 'Tape' heads in Fates ASH app. The ARC controls position, speed, direction & pitch in very high resolution increments.
    The 16n Faderbank is midi mapped to the parameters in ASH to control the number of grains, grain size, grain spread for each tape head and a master reverb.
    All sounds and loops from Fates - no external effects or processing. The output is recoded back into Fates via the Record App running simultaneously.
    The 4 loops were made prior on other fates apps and recorded via Fates then loaded into ASH.

      It really is! Nice compact setup too. The apps in Norns are really powerful and a lot of fun to experiment with.

    Beautiful stuff! I picked up a norns shield recently and have quickly discovered the importance of the record function for building more complex pieces like this and layering in sounds from other apps. Never really understood that just from watching tutorials and stuff before actually using it. I love the sense of tactile satisfaction and invitation to experimentation and discovery that these devices provide

      Thanks for those comments. Yes, Im a big fan of recording my jams directly on Norns itself and then reusing them, especially granularly. And you are absolutely right, once you add controllers like Grid, Arc and Faderbank to Norns it becomes an incredibly expressive 'instrument'.

    how can i get the faderbank and the arc?

    • @Allinaire
      @Allinaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the ARC is now discontinued? But there are some DIY options available. Faderbank is also a DIY thing, but for both the FB and ARC there are builders out there that will sell you a completed unit. Check on Modwiggler to start with.

      @@Allinaire ty..and how the faderbank is connected to other devices? in your video.

    • @Allinaire
      @Allinaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sashaatree6535 It is connected via usb to the Norns/fates - same like the ARC. The Norns/Fates has 4 usb sockets for attaching controllers etc.
