    This is one of your most helpful videos yet! Definitely keeping this module on a wishlist!

    Thank you for the demo!
    What a nice and interesting bunch of faders! The DIY part is also intriguing.
    Maybe it could be made to work with my Zynthian over I2C to leave the USB for the PC...

      You're welcome! And it is indeed :) Unfortunately I don't have any I2C capable modules, so couldn't work much with that, but sounds like interesting plans!

    Nice presentation as always on your channel!
    As you can control via MIDI CCs I wonder if you could use it also the other way round to convert incoming MIDI CCs to CV with this fader box?

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! You can use the sliders to control CV and Midi, but not the other way around. So it's not a 16 channel midi to CV converter. Although that would be nice indeed :)

      Thank you so much! That's lovely to hear! And yes, used it a few times to setup the midi configuration. But mostly just use it with the modular.

    Thanks for this overview; it's strange that this hasn't received more attention as it seems to do a specific set of things that no other controller does in quite the same way so concisely. I just ordered a secondhand unit from my local dealer here in Australia and looking forward to exploring what it can do. (Are you still using it as a regular part of your setup?)

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree! It's a very clean but useful tool. Still have mine for sure, it's more a part of the studio now than the live set though :)

    Would you require a midi breakout like the CVM8 from expert sleepers in order to connect to to the Disting EX? It's not super clear how that connection is made, could you clarify? Very inspiring stuff!

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not midi, I am talking about the I2C port. So you should be able to use that single jack out from the fader bank to the EX. But I have to admit I don't have any of those devices, so I could not test it myself. Make sure to check the manual for the EX if you want to know more details.

    I prefer Voltage Block - choice to play static voltages (make the sequencer 1 step), with the option to sequence voltages. The big faders and 10 volt range seem incredibly handy, though.

    thank you for the video, but 1 question, why should it receive midi through usb? (1:50)

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they actually updated the device, so now it could be possible. It would be nice to recieve MIDI because then you can use it as a midi to cv converter, and send values from a DAW to your modular for example :)
      EDIT: After clarifaction from the maker: The module is updated so it can send midi data at its midi output, recieved via the usb. The slider outputs are fully analog, so it's not a midi to cv converter! But you can use it to forward midi data to digital modules.

    This video made me buy the controller and it solved a lot of problems for me. It's great to have so many OFFSETs available :) Thanks. Just one question: using passive stackable cables, is it possible to lose voltage? I am not speaking in the case of tracking for a VCO (because perhaps I would not use it) but I am speaking of normal voltages routed towards different vc (for example vca, filters). In that case it would be useful to change the voltage to 10volts and attenuate it in some way or would it be fine even 5 volts? Hope the question is clear, thanks again for your great videos.

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, glad to hear it! Im afraid im not sure if there is an internal way of buffering in the 16n Rework, don't have the tools to test it atm. In general if you mult voltages with a stackable indeed you loose a bit of strength. In practice though, unles you use it for melodies like you said, its not a problem at all, the loss is pretty small.

    Would love for it to have modular inputs and act as VCAs for this inputs. I have a lot of modulation sources to tame 😅

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would require very different circuitry. But more VCAs are always good I guess :)

      @@MonotrailTechTalktrue, but fader PLUS a few buttons won't hurt either! also would be great to see a v2 one day with multiple pages/groups, which would open up another dimension. and a v3 with displays per fader )) like FaderFox EC4. but even in its current state, 16n is unrivalled.
      (can't help but wonder why there's nothing else like it. a testament to the creativity of the community and DIY scene, it wasn't even a commercial project in the beginning)

    This seems to be useful in such incredible ways. It would be perfect to use 3 or 4 of the faders for bringing different guitar pedals into a soundscape.

      worth adding there's also a Michigan Synth Works version (not really compatible with 16n but derived from it), sold via their website. it has a more handy 0-5/0-10/-5+5v individual switches on the faceplate. and of course the Sweet16 modules. the 16n project's been around for years, so it's all well developed. + incredible controller, great video too.

    • @MonotrailTechTalk

      Hey! It's mostly a tool that creates posibilities when it comes to how you jam or perform. So it comes down to if you think you would use it in the studio, or it would create new possibilities for you when performing. I think thats not so much related to the genre ;) All the best!
