Dude I just picked up a Standard 50’s Epiphone gold Top and it is absolutely fantastic I have zero complaints 💪 I recently went to my local music store to try a Gibson Les Paul standard and I know there must be a difference but I’m not paying $2,800 for it 🤦🏻♂️
Awrsome, the dark burst looks the best out of the ones I saw. The specs look awesome, but I don't know if they just don't photograph well or what but the finish doesn't appeal to me.
@@jameshughes6049 if their 2021 offerings aren't much different I will probably snag the vintage burst. If the Slash guitars come out though, I'm going for the November burst from his line.
I ordered mine on Friday and its scheduled to arrive today (Saturday) ! I ordered the Sweetwater exclusive Lemon Burst. If it looks as good in person as the pics did then I'm all good.
@@GhostDragon1182 that is fair observation and it wouldn’t surprise me. That being said it’s a welcomed surprise (I work on guitars for a living and would have eventually installed smaller fret wire). Cheers.
That's a tough one to answer honestly, they're pretty close, but if I had to choose, the 60's standard just because of the neck profile, it's a bit more comfortable. That isn't to say that I find the 50's neck is uncomfortable though. That being said, they're both solid instruments and if you have a brick and mortar store you can try out both at, I suggest doing that.
interested in this guitar how is the neck compared to other guitars since I won't be able to try it like its no baseball bat neck is it ? or is it just comfy all around ? cuz I like not to skinny and not to thick necks let me know !! great vid
I don't know if I would call it a baseball, it is noticeably thicker than the '60s standard or most Les Paul necks. I usually prefer a modern C shape, but I do not find the profile on this to be uncomfortable. I'm not picky in that I have to have a specific neck, but I'm picky in that if it doesn't feel good, then I will pass. Sucks you can't try it because ultimately that is the best way to decide. If you're used to modern Fender necks and like those necks, you may want to go with the '60s Standard, or Les Paul Classic.
Never played Vintage brand guitars so I can't really answer that for you. They're on my radar, but I until I play one, I can't say one way or the other, it just wouldn't be honest.

50s or the 60s?

It's all personal preference but of all the guitars I have had this is the best to play for me. I've had thinner necks but the 50's is bang on.
The black fingers is due to the strings Epiphone uses from the factory. Clean them or change them & that goes away.
It's something they put on the fretboard, changing strings doesn't help, it only goes away upon cleaning the fret board.
@@GhostDragon1182 I've had it go away by changing the strings. Either way, it's an easy fix.

My epiphone gold top isn't very good frets out badly. Would never buy without playing first . They made in China 🇨🇳 😳
There are always outliers, doesn’t matter what the country of origin is.
And they’ve been made in China since 2004, people only now care because of the political climate.
