Rhodes was a great man. Greed? He lived a very simple personal life and spent most of his vast fortune on the education of others in a future he would never live to see. Before the pioneer column arrived, Rhodesia had been a land of massive population decline, famine, slaughter, and slavery with chiefs who had power over life for which they showed contempt and brutality. Zimbabwe was stolen and the descendants of the settlers and occupiers were sent packing over a hundred years later. That’s it in a nutshell. It’s a classic…the sins of the fathers…. Story

Followed by the matabele subduing the shona with raiding hut tax killing and control followed by the bsap stopping the annihilation of the shona by the matabele... your right settlers played a part but which settlers ?
