After 9‘000 km since May with 54 years of ‚premium‘ cars driver experience also on tracks, the EV6 AWD is definitely the winner. Extremely low TCO (former ICE costed me a fortune in servicing) and best mix in performance and efficiency as well as not the usual boring design. The drivetrain is excellent and top class found only in much more expensive cars. Responsible was one of the very best in automotive Albert Biermann. He headed BMW M-Sport for 30 years and made some of the best ICE ever on the market. With the mechanical adaptive shock absorbers from ZF Sachs we are in good relation only with Maserati and some Mercedes AMG. On the Anneau du Rhin track in summer I had no problem with cars like Alfa-Romeo Stelvio Quadrofoglio Verde if you know what that is (it’s a V6 from Ferrari with 510 HP)! The Kia ‚only‘ has measured 333 HP but 608 Nm. When you compare say also that only the Kia has a frunk. When looking at technology ask Sandy Muro about how BMW not solved the problem, so it’s not worth paying for some oldfashioned interior and a design to discuss. Better is Skoda at least best of all Volkswagen products still heaving a few software and other problems. So also there not really worth the price, always compared with ‚full house‘ like my Kia. Sorry to say that as an old BMW enthusiast owning them also! It’s just a shame for me how they kill the brand after a rather interesting EV startup in the past. Same for many others by the way and understandable why they fear Nio, BYD, Xpeng, Polestar, Aiways and of course Hyundai group with so much choice for every car design freak; Genesis, Ioniq and Kia.😎👌🥰
Owning and driving an Enyaq, I love how smooth and quiet it is. I was so looking forward to the vRS but having seen a few reviews, I'm disappointed it's not a bit quicker! Still looks great though 👌
To be honest I was touch away from getting i4 Performance. As my last 3 cars were BMWs. Got Niro EV and EV6 AWD GT-Line for the same amount of money and couldn’t be more happy with the choice.
I easily get 270 miles out of my i4 and have seen as much as 340 with temperature around 8-10 degrees. It’s been a brilliant motorway companion where it’s at its most efficient around 60-70mph and I often see 4.0mi/kWh if I’m not hooning.
Really great comparison, enjoyed this a lot. I think the i4 is one of the better BMWs of the fugly generation. I like the cabin and in this colour scheme the cartoon elements (ie grill) dominate less. Money no object, I would take the BMW. vRS seems to be a styling exercise for the Enyaq so I'd pass on that. Some slightly dodgy areas of interior styling aside, the EV6 wins for me. Looks great, goes well and is loaded with tech. Also decent efficiency, range and charging speed. Just what you want from an EV. Either that or I would take the Ioniq 6 - that looks wild !
A great comparison video, guys - thanks. Given the choice of these 3, to me it's an absolute no-brainer, easy win for the BMW i4 - if, for nothing else than that it's NOT yet another flippin' resource-wasteful electric SUV...!! That aside... Might I suggest a minor 'tweak' to your videos, please? I bought my BMW i4 M50 because it is like a conventional car and I don't like S.U.Vs. The only thing missing for me is a rear wash wipe and having to cancel the lane correction system is a pain.
Love performance... but cost to buy and run is the number one factor when I'm considering a family car change. None of these are affordable as usual, hopefully manufacturers will start making affordable options that cover more than 300 miles (on a full charge) in the real world. I absolutely agree. Which is why I have great hopes for the 77KWh MG4. Cheap(ish)-for an EV, RWD and , from all accounts, fun to drive. If only others would copy the recipe.
IMO any EV costing more than £43k (the current price of a Tesla model 3) had better be absolutely outstanding or it loses out. Tesla are ahead with their software, especially OTA updates, and their supercharger network beats all the alternatives. Unfortunately I can't afford £43k so will continue to drive our 2011 Skoda Yeti until it finally expires.
I have tried both, and I like both the looks and the driving dynamics of the BMW. It's just so refined, however you need to ensure you get the real-axel adaptive air-suspension included.
I bought the Skoda VRS, after 20 years of driving BMW's. had a spec list though: SUV, good looking, 4wd, decent power and performance, tow bar, good size boot and comfortable. I spend a good while back in spring 2022 studying the marked before choosing the Enyaq VRS. I chose the BMW i4 M Sport over the EV6 because of build quality and handling. I'm very happy with it. Obviously slower DC charging compared to the EV6. And the 0 to 60 is conservative foe the i4.
The stated figure by bmw is always very conservative so that if a car is a little off the pace they can’t be taken to court over misleading customers. The actual 0-60 time is 4.7secs which was achieved by a couple of American car mags, they held it on the foot brake whilst flooring the throttle and off it shoots on the release of the brake. Not something I’d want to try with my own car!
Bmw looks awesome Skoda looks funky but is certainly practical but Kia good looks but has also good practicality of the Skoda. You pays your money and you takes your choice..

But it needs to be to 62mph in about 8 seconds to make life not a hazard and drive about 80mph comfortably for overtaking emergencies
£20k more than they should be, crazy prices that I'm sure will very soon have the dealers crying about falling new car sales. Great news for the second hand market tho for the majority that can only afford sensible priced cars.
I've got a 2022 RWD model 3 and if you can live with the boot it's looks, it's still cheaper, more efficient and drives as well as any of these. The infotainment just works and it updates all the time. I wonder how long legacy automakers will support their vehicles.. It's not perfect, the seats are rubbish for a sporty driver and the warranty could be longer. But it's so easy to live with. It's still hands down the best daily driver. If only Tesla would make a estate version, it would be the best family car out there..
No boot for my dogs on the bmw, currently drive a 330e and would love them to release an estate version! So for me the EV6 or Tesla model y is next choice
Thanks for the fun and informative video. My lease is up in six months and KIA and i4 are at the top of my list but getting one is the problem. So I will probably have to take my 4th choice as my 3rd choice would the Ioniq 5 with same delivery problem.
Dont understand the vRS, I mean surely they should have made it QUICK, alas its not and dare I say its not as rakish as the EV6. The BMW will appeal to the sales reps out there, the EV6 is the one to choose from these three IMHO. But right now whilst i'm not a fan of its looks, you'd have to say the Tesla Model Y is the best EV to go for right now, esp Long Range form. 4.x 0-60, great load space and good tech.
I wouldn't touch the model Y. I just don't want my money to go, in any part to complete a**hole such as Elon Musk. Apart from that, I simply detest the interior of Teslas. They may be making a virtue out of a necessity, but I hate the big screen and no buttons. And apart from the screen; white or black interior? What's that about? White on something with a tailgate and huge cargo space just doesn't make sense, and the black just looks awful. I've never liked black interiors, and none of the Teslas convince. And the screen costs 3500 to replace, and you can't drive the vehicle without it. With the sorts of loads I occasionally carry, that's absolutely a deal breaker. There again, I've so far yet to meet a Tesla driver who even got up to BMW/Audi/Merc levels of contemptuous road behaviour, so I don't think the Tesla fraternity would want somebody who knows how to be polite.
@@casperhansen826 As has been pointed out, there are very few companies that weren't cheating, and none of them built their reputations on such a large raft of lies that you could float across the Atlantic on it. Nor are the others doing such vanity projects as seeing who has the biggest phallic symbol they can thrust into space. Nor are any of them remotely interested in taking over social media networks just so that they can promote dangerously deluded theories and/or politicians. Nor, BTW, am I aware of companies like MG, Hyundai/KIA or BYD being involved in deliberately cheating the world's government or even, for that matter, having megalomaniac tendencies. Of course, if you can show me how some of the companies mentioned above have anything to do with rigging diesel emissions, I'll be happy to entertain your submissions. But of course you won't because you're too dim to realise that there are other manufacturers than the legacy companies and Tesla. And I do roundly condemn both VAG's tampering with their systems on diesel cars, just as much as I condemn any others that were involved (I believe PSA was doing something very similar - not so well published) How about you condemning Tesla's megalomaniac-in-chief?
Performance is important when you buy it and to show off your friends but that is all. You see all these performance EVs on the roads traveling at 60mph. EVs have a soothing effect that makes you compete against the battery playing to get the most mileage EV owners are more proud of mileage than performance. Performance is just a selling point, nothing else
Nowadays, 16.07.2024, in Romania, BMW starts from 56k eur for e40, Kia is 59.500 and up to 65.500 for LR, while the Skoda is more than 62k. All without options. If you want to go cheap from these 3, then BMW is the cheapest one. Kia I think is the most expensive. Skoda is the first one to take out. It is quite small for a family car, but BMW can win this contest. And the e35 starts from 50k. So I deal compared to these 2. Of course, Tesla M3 HL is only 42.500. And is better spec'ed than all.
All Škoda Enyaq iV variants are good cars depends on what you are looking for. Škoda made a good job here with the more sporty vRS. But I personally prefer Enyaq iV 80 Sportline. It looks great, it is practical and it may not be the fastest car out there. Pretty slow acceleration actually. But one of the most comfy cars out there with great sport seats!
Why can't any of the German manufacturers put touchscreens in their cars which look like part of the dashboard, and not like something you've got from Halfords
The enyaq looks amazing especially in that colour it’s like VW says to it’s sister companies you can make the nice looking ones we’ll make the ugly ones as people will buy them anyway plus we have the ID BUZZ ! eg Cupra Born vs ID3 & ID4 v Enyaq - EV6 v Ionic 5 the Hyundai wins - but out of the three I’d chose the bmw ❤
Didn't watch past 3:10, a Skoda and Kia costing more than £50k, electric cars are not practical. Watch The Macmaster if you want an unbiased view of electric cars.
Ev's are ok quiet fast etc but sorry not in same league as conventional ice as far as driver involvement noise passion etc they have more in common with a washer /mobile phone with wheels on wayyy too expensive too....the sound of a mustang v8 for example stirs the soul and that is what driving is about for a lot of us. Ev's are fine for commuting
I'm switching from an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV to the i4 M Sport. Okay not in the same league as the QV but handling of the i4 is fun, probably more GT like than RS.
It’s a definite win for the EV6. The comparison should have used the higher spec EV6 which would have made it more even, making the EV6 even more awesome for the price. The Enyaq is just a bland machine, but a lot of people like bland, just look at how many people buy Toyotas. The BMW is a lovely machine, but waaaaaay too expensive in my country and most are driven by twats.
I think that the BMW claim of 365 miles from an 80.7 kWh battery is hard to believe. Simple maths of 365/80.7 = 4.52 miles per kWh. Really? People are lucky to get 3.5 from this size of car and much less in Winter. And that's 3.5 x 80.7 = 280 miles. Still has a good range of course but 85 miles less than people expect. And a new buyer might select on the total range and not be aware of these maths calcs. Winter range can often be 2.9 miles per kWh = 234 miles for cars of this size as well. And, of course, a dealer won't want to discuss this kind of real-world range until the order has been signed. And that's only if they're aware of it themselves.
I agree however the same argument also applies to the Kia because it all relative to how & where you drive. I've seen road tests on YT that produced 525 km (326 miles) on the i4 rwd on 19 inch tires in Europe, i suspect due to driving mostly on windy 'small roads'. Same car in USA on the interstate where one can easily average 75 to 80 mph (driving normally), the range will be around 280 to 290 on the rwd variant. Either way, its still a lot of miles.
Well Nicki being an ex BMW driver I have to site with Tom as what has been shown is hands down better than BMW could ever imagine, cheaper, more efficient and with faster charging as Tom said more time spent on the roads which drivers like me used to love. Now what I need is to get my eyes operated on and my license back and hopefully a decent day when my Bank Manager is in a good mood, so he can lend me what it costs !!
@@robsmall6466 EVs are getting a ridiculas price now with these and the mercedes s class over £100k its opening the door to chinese car makers because they are cheaper but with the same tech.
@@richardjohnson5529 Unless they start getting realistic with their prices I fear for the future of some brands. You can't all chase the same premium customer. £30k for a base Megane now I believe. Previously that was RS Megane money. So when the owner of an older Megane that would of cost maybe £24k max walks into that Renault dealership, where do they think the extra £6k plus is coming from ? Ford axing the Fiesta as well. I bet Vauxhall were doing cartwheels because they will sell even more Corsa. Same over at Toyota with the Yaris. Strange times indeed
Skoda's have been the butt of jokes for years but they constantly pick up awards on respected you tube channels and the Enyaq is no exception. But unfortunately there's still the odd pompous badge snob about like the incredibly unbearable bloke on here quoting it's very expensive for a skoda. What car and other respected channels give completely unbiased reviews regardless of badge.
The one key point you've missed is whether any of the three manufacturers are able to make a profit from their EVs. No profit, no future. As ICE sales decline, which they are about to do rapidly, these three are about to head for bankruptcy. This is a much more important metric than range, or driving fun or luggage space. That time, maybe no more than 3 or 4 years away.
That 800 volt charging us a lie isn’t it? The battery has to be within the optimum temperatures and a heat pump or pre heat isn’t as standard. So no, Kia isn’t the better charger
I enjoy driving which basically rules out getting a "Stupid Ugly Vehicle" and I just couldn't spend any of my hard earned money on the the fugly BMW despite having two non-fugly 3-series before. Think the new Polestar2 RWD LR could be the way to go.
For me the BMW, then Skoda and Kia last. I would put the Kia last because after being around for about 18 months I find it’s starting to look a bit dull and bland especially next to the other 2 cars.
When did a 2.2 tonne SUV become slow at 6.5 seconds to 60mph?? ... if it went any faster people would be in ditches. When did a BMW i4 become the best electric car out there, when the platform isn't EV specific, but just an existing car shoehorned with batteries. When did the cheapest KIA (of all brands) become a viable 'family' car with a starting price of £50,000 + It's all a load of bollox... - Tesla Model 3 Performance (Mine) - Skoda Enyaq VRS (Wifes) 2 x 11 kW home chargers which is plenty fast enough for both.
Its a shame there is a BMW electric car for the idiot BMW drivers who think " I'm a racing driver and speed limits do not apply to me" (no indicators and will cut you up when exiting the motorway). Skoda shape looks better than the others apart from black fake vent trims which will get chipped. Skoda is a big car and less aerodynamic so not as efficient. Kia seems the best car but the rear look awful and interior looks confused, why KIA ?

@@davidcolin6519 I see that you would rather buy from the Diesel Gate partners.
@@casperhansen826 Not at all.
@@casperhansen826 makes no sense, almost every single company was cheating 😂
And I do roundly condemn both VAG's tampering with their systems on diesel cars, just as much as I condemn any others that were involved (I believe PSA was doing something very similar - not so well published)
How about you condemning Tesla's megalomaniac-in-chief?
enyaq has a fab infotainment system? thought it had the standard ID3 one which seems universally hated?
Performance is important when you buy it and to show off your friends but that is all.
You see all these performance EVs on the roads traveling at 60mph.
EVs have a soothing effect that makes you compete against the battery playing to get the most mileage
EV owners are more proud of mileage than performance.
BMW i4 is the winner! Be interesting to see how it compares in driving feel to the facelifted Polestar 2 RWD that’s coming.
Guys I plan to book a ev car so let me know which is better is it ev6 or the bmw i4
Why can't any of the German manufacturers put touchscreens in their cars which look like part of the dashboard, and not like something you've got from Halfords
EV6 wins for me.
Nicki is listed as BMW friend of the brand so make of it what you want.
fantastic comparison! However, it would have been better to use GV60 instead of EV6 in my opinion.
The BWWi4 the screen looks like a last minute add on.
In a shed😂 copied badly from Kia
As a German, I have a strange feeling in my body when I see the steering wheel on the right-hand side of the car 😀
Didn't watch past 3:10, a Skoda and Kia costing more than £50k, electric cars are not practical. Watch The Macmaster if you want an unbiased view of electric cars.
But most of these Motoring commentators they go with the badge not the car.
You are right.
Twats = people with much more money than me 😭
I think that the BMW claim of 365 miles from an 80.7 kWh battery is hard to believe. And that's only if they're aware of it themselves.
eDrive40 can easily get 4 mi/kwh. M50 is just poor in this area. But sadly all press got that one.
Bmw is better at everything but cargo space and the looks 50x better than the other two🤷🏼♂️❤️
Now you just need to include the Ioniq 6 and then you have everything within the range included.
I4 winner of tlooks, EV6 winner of allrounder Enyaq loser because of his VRS badge.. its has no power.
I wouldn’t have a BMW if they were the only car on the road.
The VRS is far too expensive and underwhelmingly slow - just like the Cupra Born
Didn’t the BMW I4 just get 4* from euro NCAP... Not sure that qualifies it as impressive
Tesla Model Y Long Range with Acceleration Boost is THE BEST!!!
I waited 16 months for my EV6-AWD (in yellow) and never give it back. 🙂
£52k £54k £57k who do you think your kidding people can't afford heating or eating get real
Exactly. "Family" cars. Yeah right. Nice when you can drive them for free and hand them back
@@robsmall6466 EVs are getting a ridiculas price now with these and the mercedes s class over £100k its opening the door to chinese car makers because they are cheaper but with the same tech.
MY Pick KIA or SKODA 8.30 Kia at 19.00
BMW Screen looks stuck on and will be a Nightmare to clean behind it
Skoda's have been the butt of jokes for years but they constantly pick up awards on respected you tube channels and the Enyaq is no exception. But unfortunately there's still the odd pompous badge snob about like the incredibly unbearable bloke on here quoting it's very expensive for a skoda. What car and other respected channels give completely unbiased reviews regardless of badge.
Well 1st you didn’t even like the video 😂
Horay for diesel!!
It may be the ultimate driving machine but I could NEVER have that grill on my drive - It's truly awful!
The suggestion being that other EVs aren’t guaranteed to make you smile?
My Tesla makes me smile every time I drive it.
As an EV6 owner I can confirm. Charging is a lot less reliable and consistent than enyaq or i4.
The VW is just an ugly box. The other two are 👍
I enjoy driving which basically rules out getting a "Stupid Ugly Vehicle" and I just couldn't spend any of my hard earned money on the the fugly BMW despite having two non-fugly 3-series before. Think the new Polestar2 RWD LR could be the way to go.
Not having a Tesla in here is stupid
I like the ridiculous color.
Coupe, chickens live in coop's.
1st
For me the BMW, then Skoda and Kia last. I would put the Kia last because after being around for about 18 months I find it’s starting to look a bit dull and bland especially next to the other 2 cars.
I feel the same about EV6. using a GV60 in this video would be better.
When did a 2.2 tonne SUV become slow at 6.5 seconds to 60mph?? ... if it went any faster people would be in ditches.
When did a BMW i4 become the best electric car out there, when the platform isn't EV specific, but just an existing car shoehorned with batteries.
When did the cheapest KIA (of all brands) become a viable 'family' car with a starting price of £50,000 +
It's all a load of bollox...
- Tesla Model 3 Performance (Mine)
- Skoda Enyaq VRS (Wifes)
2 x 11 kW home chargers which is plenty fast enough for both.
100% i4
i4 for me. The Kia is just too pig-ugly.
bmw fugly front design should not be rewarded, though
Kia already looks dated compared to the other two
Its a shame there is a BMW electric car for the idiot BMW drivers who think " I'm a racing driver and speed limits do not apply to me" (no indicators and will cut you up when exiting the motorway). Skoda shape looks better than the others apart from black fake vent trims which will get chipped. Skoda is a big car and less aerodynamic so not as efficient. Kia seems the best car but the rear look awful and interior looks confused, why KIA ?
