This was painful to watch, and a complete mistake. Everyone acted like children except jeremy, who I feel enormous sympathy for. It's a shame we'll probably never see him on screen junkies movie fights again, because he deserves better than this.
Well, you happen to be wrong. Jeremy participated in the Movie Fights and he has a new Screen Junkies show called Movie Games. He's a great sport and seemed to be having a blast.
one2gaming Actually coming from a screen junkies fan I had to admit Hal was wigging out on Jeremy. And yelling your opinion doesn't mean you're correct. The Hobbit was not bad. Obviously LOTR trilogy is better but it doesn't make The Hobbit bad.
Julian Morello You sound like you just don't like his opinion and are butthurt. The Hobbit movies are pretty bad. That's completely besides the point though.
one2gaming Rudeness is never appropriate in a debate. In order to win you need sound reasoning. Emotion has no place and will only hurt your side of the argument.
THANK YOU! You seem to be the only one that sees that! Jeremy was being fair in his arguments and never condescending. I feel everyone disliked him because every time he tried to talk, Hal decided to cut him off.
+Brennan Schultz Yeah, watching it again he is just too nice a guy haha. Those guys were ready to battle, J stayed smooth but in this show you gotta put your thing down. If it was Movie Parties I'm sure Jahns would win lol
+Evan Ritchey I will fully admit that he didn't put up much of a fight in that one fight, but throughout this entire episode Jeremy would serve up great points only to be countered with "ABLAHAGHHHHAGAHA! *fart noise*" If he were to come on here one more time, I think we'd actually get a fair shot at seeing his debate skills.
+Evan Ritchey Jeremy is a good debater and I feel that this being more of aroyal rumble thing, we didn't get to see him argue comfortably, which if it were the case he'd have shredded
Next movie fight: Who is the Best music movie composer? For example: Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Horner, Alan Silvestri, Ennio Morricone, Steve Jablonski, Howard Shore, John Powell, Danny Elfman, Michael Giaccino, etc.
Zimmer has the wow appeal and gives a sense of epic scale to films he scores, but his music rarely has high artistic value and depth like that of John Williams. Both are good composers.
nah I enjoyed hal in that debate although I disagreed, you could tell he was talking out of his ass, but he treated it like a joke, whereas someone like andy would've gotten all bitchy about it.
Whenever someone is going against Hal, Hal just screams and interrupts them and never gives them a chance to talk, and all he ever says is, "This is the BEST thing ever, my arguement is the BEST because this is ICONIC and ICONIC and really ICONIC"
Wow the look on Jeremy's face when Hal interrupted him and laughed in his face for calling the Hobbit movies good. Even though I'm not the hugest fan of the trilogy, I am a fan of Jeremy's so that pissed me off as much as it did him.
I'm totally not understanding all the Jeremy Jahns hate in the comment section. He was on a weird episode and he was THE LEAST AGGRESSIVE of any of them. There was a room of blatantly aggressive people and he was the one just making little equips. How was he the douche bag in that room?
He made silly, uninformed arguments. He was at first just being rude and undermining Hal while the guys speaking but then he seemed to just switch off and not give a damn. However, he was nowhere near as annoying as Kristian.
But everyone was either being rude, aggressive or passive aggressive. They were all hostile. They were all dicks. They were all douche bags. They just all did it differently. And based off of the other episodes I've seen, this one was just bizarre.
IStehSHIT To be fair his "passive aggressive" comments were intended as jokes, and jokes that seem to be pretty inline with the style of his other videos. It's not like he was acting all that out of character, he was just bringing what he had to the table. Granted the energy/assertiveness the rest of the crew and sometimes Kristian brought to the table didn't exactly allow him to come out of his shell, but i still think it was a great episode and would love to see him back on the show. Hell, the tag-team idea was actually pretty fun. But i'd like to see a tag-team between schmoes and screen junkies, or at least some of the junkies (pretty sure they outnumber schmoes)
Ein Siedler "...didn't exactly allow him to come out of his shell" take that sentence and ad "he was filled with some kind of preashure/rage" and you have an arrogant guy being passive agressive. That was exactly what he was, and that's why he didn't get to make an argument, not because he can't make arguments, but because he was hindered by the fact that he was closed up duche
Never been dissapointed soo much with screen junkies team... You wasted the best opportunity you had by trying to blind side Jeremy and Kristian with that tag team thing, and totally spiraled down from there... Jeremy is guy who has his own views and ways, forcing him to team up on spot with anyone,(yes forcing because you caused it) would only result in him becoming quiet and quirky... And the way you shouted and nicpicked your way through your arguments... It felt like a group of hormones filled teenagers... You really ruined your opportunity... If I were in Jeremy's shoes I'd never return to your show.. The same arguments could have been made in a very much more dignified way like you guys usually do... Except when it counted...
Jeremy sucked man, lets be honest. He opinion didnt really go beyond saying whether or not he liked something. Even in his show, he doesnt really demonstrate any particular knowledge of film, he's just an entertaining guy saying whether or not he liked films.
You called Jeremyjanhs for this crapy movie fights??? What was Screenjunkies thinking when allowing tag-teams??? Didnt you noticed jeremy was really uncomfortable during your rants and screaming??
Naradhipa Kanishka Cant argue with that. I like Hal but he needs to work on his arguing skills. I really felt for him when he lost the Schindlers List thing. He seemed really disappointed. Kristian was well annoying though. 'Thats not the question', 'thats not the question', again and again
Hobbit was a considerably good trilogy. Not better than LOTR but it was considerably fine. I mean..you can't expect a prequel to be better than it's highly acclaimed source material.
The Hobbit movies sucked. The hobbit got sidelined in his own trilogy so they could jam pack in all of these other completely unnecessary and bloated storylines like Gandalf's adventures, that love triangle, Legolas' crap, all of that CGI crap that was basically all of the 3rd movie, so many other characters jammed in that were unnecessary and made stupidly over the top. I could rant for hours about how badly the hobbit movies suck!!
Been watching Movie Fights for a few months now, culminating in this episode. It’s a great idea and format. Couple of observations. -Movie Fights regulars are always entertaining to watch (Hal, Andy, Spencer, Nick and Dan). Always funny. I’m a guy but it’s even more entertaining when female guests are invited, since they tend to make calmer and more skilful arguments. Many of the male guests, on balance, make poorer arguments (even when they seem to have expertise in the area) and devolve into shouting. -Don’t mess with the format. Movie Fights looks professional. It doesn’t when you have large numbers of people in the studio yelling whenever they want. -One of the most distracting elements (and detracts from the entertainment and interest of the show’s content) is the dynamic that is created by specific guests. This episode demonstrates this. Dan - who is usually an excellent judge and even better contestant - seemed to give way to certain panellists in his comments (“This is really, really close”, when to anyone watching it wasn’t) and in awarding points. When you invite guests with their own large following onto the show they bring their egos with them. This is what happened with Jeremy Jahns. Here you have a guy with some background in film but who changed the tone of the early part of the show with snarking, off-putting tactics, playground-style insults and then just gave up through lack of interest in the second half. All Screen Junkies people did well to weather that (many defusing with humour) because it bordered on getting personal and was cringe-worthy to watch. A similar thing happens with guests to whom Screen Junkies are connected in terms of the production of the show, like the peeps of ‘Schmoes Know’. Judges feel that they need to pander to the arguments of certain people and that’s not why people watch the show. Let’s not put judges in that position. Let’s genuinely let them judge on the basis of the arguments, because they are a crucial part of the format. People won’t watch - no matter the selection of panellists - if they feel that usually thoughtful judges (Andy and Dan) are compromised.
I really think you're on to something. I love Andy, and I didn't understand a single conclusion Dan makes, and Dan is my favorite contestant on the show! I'm sure he's normally a great judge but this episode was eye-opening at how off I can view an episode. I think for the reasons stated above this was the case. Thanks, Unbenighted
In respect to the female guests - totally, they are not immune to dumb arguments either. Sometimes the format of the show forces all contestants into such positions. Schindler's List, for example, is becoming like one of those cards in a Top Trumps deck that cannot be beaten, forcing other panellists to champion films that pale in comparison. In general though - and this is excluding the 'male' (at this stage) regulars who largely make up the show - the female guest panellists tend to create the more interesting arguments. If you look back they tend to use evidence, build on each other's arguments, use those arguments against one another and tend to create a more thoughtful programme. Which is great, if it is the discussion of film that you are into. The male guests and sometimes the regulars, quite often devolve into shouting and mock testosterone-fuelled threats. While this can be entertaining, this sort of thing can be found all over the internet. If that frat-style approach is your thing, you are already well served on the web. I just don't think that it what Screen Junkies started out wanting to do. I hope they don't wander into that. I also hope that they will pick their panellists carefully. A mixture of old faces and new try-outs, rather than getting people on the basis of internet polling. Apparently lots of people wanted Jeremy Jahns and he was a huge disappointment - and I barely know who he is. Get people - male or female - with passion that will translate well into entertainment during the show. Jahns looked like he was doing them a favour or something by even deigning to respond to the invitation. If he had really brought it - then okay... but he didn't or couldn't so let's see some other people.
He's so obnoxious and annoying in this! Yes it's a team up, but why is it ONE Screen Junkies representative arguing against TWO Jahns/Harloff?? Seems unfair. Harloff SUCKS.
I'd definitely like to see Jeremy back on his own instead of teamed up. The mayhem was kind of fun, but I want to see him holding his own rather than a team member speaking for him.
Yeah next time I want more Jeremy. Team Kristian and Jeremy consist of 30 percent Jans talk and the other 70 with Kristian screaming and calling bs. I still dont know what happen with round 7. Andy was ready to make a argument for either or then Kristian said they couldn't make the argument and that was it lol.
Props to Kristian for yelling at the same volume as Nick and Hal... I love Jeremy, he was getting blasted out by the panel, they derailed Kristian and him multiple times. I loved the amount of people that were able to participate, but kind of wish it stayed the original format with the panel doing 2 each and giving Jeremy and Kristian their time for the talking points.
It's nice that, amidst all of the negativity about the behavior of the people on the show, one guy just points this out. This is the type of stuff I like reading, because, you're actually right.
This is by far the worst episode of Movie Fights, which I normally really enjoy. To completely abandon the format that was working really well and do the stupid 'team ups' was really dumb. I really hate the shouting matches, it is not entertaining it is actually really boring and cringe-worthy. Also, are any of these guys aware that movies were made before 1980? There are some absolute pieces of shit that have won best picture, like Around the World in 80 days in 1956 or How Green Was My Valley in 1941? But apparently movies suddenly appeared from 1980 onwards. And has anyone noticed that Jeremy Jahns has the most unsophisticated, simplistic understanding of film? His interpretation and understanding of film symbolism and meaning is like high-school film student level. And Hal, learn how to fucken state a contention and develop an argument by elaborating points and not repeating the same thing over and over like you have a brain injury. Get your shit together ScreenJunkies.
***** I would never waste my time getting a degree in film, however personally I believe that if someone such as Jahns is claiming to be a 'professional film critic' then they should probably be able to understand the subtleties and layers of films? Anyone who advocates that Crash treats the subject of racism with subtlety and intelligence is a moron. It is heavy-handed, obvious and pandering; the exact kind of film that American audiences absorb like a sponge because every man and his dog can identify the overt 'good message' the movie promotes e.g. American Sniper.
12:05 I can think of so many times there was dramatic tension :/ Riddles in the Dark Thorin v Azog (An Unexpected Journey) Bilbo meets Smaug White Council attacks Dol-Guldor just to name a few off the top of my head
I would give you Riddles in the Dark and probably Bilbo meets Smaug. The rest of the stuff was (at least to me) pointless, or boring. But, I respect your opinion and I am not trying to just tell you your wrong.
Love that we're encouraging such debate in the comments! Gonna try and reply to as many of you as I can for the next half hour or so - got any questions?
Ma man jeremy playing it cool there, behaving like a gentleman among children. Seriously though it was awesome seeing jeremy and there were a lot of cool debates but that hal guy irks me to no end, talk about a first class douche. Andy was actually great this episode, he handled himself very well. Kal and mundy's clash was a good laugh. Hopfully jeremy comes back under the regular format against level headed folk.
Andy Montanez agreed. That's how everyone should behave at these debates. The guy from schmoes is a douche but he is always interrupting people! When they complaint about the reporter that was rude to RDJ he didn't even let anyone talk! it was so rude
This was the hardest episode to sit through. The tag team set up was not handled well, and the screen junkies team was obnoxious to listen to. Harloff did get annoying but I feel that his frustration was warranted in some cases. Andy and Spencer constantly bringing up how it was two versus one was a cop out considering they were the ones who decided to do a team of four in the first place. This episode was devoid of fun and was basically a giant yelling match where the larger group claimed unfairness at every turn. What really showed pettiness by the screen junkies team was when they started looking up to see if the word "movie" was in the title of Superman. Jason even said that they had thrown out a movie the day before when they decided what the options would be, so trying to get the other team's movie disqualified was just a childish move. This is the first Movie Fight that I had to watch multiple times to finish because it was so mean spirited.
I will say Harloff made good points in criticizing Hal's method of debating. Hal never says anything specific and never backs up any of his points with facts from movies, he just uses superlatives and hyperboles. I'm glad someone finally called Hal out on that.
Dave Dranow totally right, Hal never concisely argues a fact, he only argues generalizations about a film. On the hand, he's never won, so it probably doesn't matter that he argues that way because the show has never rewarded him for doing so.
Wishlist of people I want to see on Movie Fights: 1. Jeremy Jahns again 2. Chris Stuckmann 3. Nostalgia Critic/Doug Walker 4. Jeremy from CinemaSins 5. Andre/Black Nerd
I've watched every Movie FIght and this one takes the lead as the most entertaining and awesome fight ever. The chaos and confusion made it hilarious, the fights were tough (but Jurrasic Park vs Shindleir? come on) and everyone had fun (Except Dan). Good job everyone for making this such a great episode.
I can't imagine how stressful that was for Dan, but he did a great job! I love watching Andy fight, though, because he's amazingly good at it. I want to see more fights with Andy and Dan both fighting. :)
I gotta say guys, and I don't mean to be harsh: this fight looked promising with the tag team and all, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the usual episodes. I think you should stick with the usual 1vs1vs1 with screenjunkies and occasional guests, it had a good balance, worked really well and was always enjoyable. Just my opinion thou!
***** no disrepsect taken! We appreciate the feedback! The unexpected team up of Jahns & Harloff did indeed throw us for a loop - that said we enjoy taking chances - you never know what you might stumble upon... like this show in general! :) -ANDY
Screen Junkies However, the whole tag team from everyone else was also a bit unexpected for everyone else. There just didn't seem like a real order, everything was "Chose your character" as it went. It would be cool and all if it was like that for both teams, and even, but that's if it works to begin with(and the space is provided to even host that many people). Plus, I really think the Back to the Future question should've been debated or at least replaced, but that's just me.
not for me. there was nothing that could convince me those films were good. Although I will say the extended version of battle of the five armies was very entertaining.
For the record, I am SO relieved to hear that no one was willing to argue for a Back to the Future reboot. I have had the discussion with all of my fellow movie geek friends and that's the one movie/series that should NEVER be rebooted. Even playing devil's advocate, my head would have exploded with rage if anyone had argued for it. DON'T EVER DO THAT QUESTION!!!
I don't know if you haven't seen it before and you watch it now you'll be like why are there flying cars in 2015. Now that we're in 2015 it loses some of that excitement about the future.
Rowan Andrew I think what Crystal's trying to say is that there's no reason for it to be rebooted. It was a well-executed movie, we know the story, we know what it's about, we know what happens, it's not a universe that we can explore, and it's just one of those movies that was perfect for it's time. I think a reboot would be completely unnecessary and I don't think it would be received very well with how movies are done today.
cuzthechicksdigit You nailed it. And the casting was spot on. There is nothing to improve on or do better in the major categories (writing, directing, pacing, acting, etc.) so it would be destined to fail. Additionally, these movies absolutely do hold up. They are still loved and relevant. Just because 2015 doesn't look like it does in the second film (admittedly, the weakest of the three) doesn't mean they don't hold up.
U wot m8 indeed he is. Yelling at people not bringing arguments, he has his opinion no matter what and everyone else is wrong. Thats just childish. Jeremy was completely calm
I also feel the need to point out that JeremyJahns gave The Hobbit 1 a "Buy it on Blu-ray" rating (his second highest), The Hobbit 2 an "awesometacular" (his highest), and The Hobbit 3 another "Buy it on Blu-ray". Schmoes Know gave The Hobbit 1 a 4/5 and 4.75/5; The Hobbit 2 a 4/5 and 4.5/5; and The Hobbit 3 a 3.8/5 and 3.8/5. Chris Stuckmann gave The Hobbit 1 a B-; The Hobbit 2 an A-; and The Hobbit 3 an A-. The Flick Pick gave them the exact same grades as Chris. So, just to be clear, Hal...you're saying that ALL of those reviewers are THAT off and wrong about a trilogy of movies. Really?
Yeah. He can say that. People can strongly disagree with a lot of critics. I wouldn't give any of these movies those types of ratings (not counting LotR, just the Hobbit). And I can think of at least one or two other times where I disagreed with all of my favorite critics. That's how subjectivity works.
Wow Jeremy Jahns was horrible at arguing his points. I don't think he added a single valid point to any of the arguments and basically got carried by Christian for any of the points they got.
I think part of that problem is that they (christian and jeremy) had to choose one of their arguments because they teamed up. And, at least for questions 2-4, his choice didnt make the cut.
RvrStyxRasputin True I do think them teaming up was a mistake, although it seemed like Christian didn't actually intend for it to be that way the whole time and just meant that they were teaming for the first round.
Its a shame that got lost in the shuffle because I was looking forward to Jeremy's arguments. I hope screen junkies sticks to their guns, however, and refuses more tag teams lol
I love Movie Fights, for me it's must watch on an early Sunday evening the minute it's uploaded. A group of passionate people giving it their all around a desk is more entertaining than most tv shows. This episode went from amazingly enjoyable to nitro injected pressure cooker nuclear meltdown insanity in the first few minutes and it was glorious.
Jeremy is the guy i go to before i decide to watch a movie, my favorite movie reviewer on TH-cam, i don't think he expected the screen junkies team to act the way they did, i sure didn't, it looked to me as if he didn't take it as serious as u guys did, he was just trying to have fun and you guys ruined it, i strongly doubt he'll come back again, just like other guests u had on before, and yeah i think some of the decisions were biased but whatever, i do recommend you make it a fun pleasant experience for your guests next time.
For the question of "Best movie with the word "Movie" in it" I would've said The Lego Movie. Yes, it is essentially a huge commercial, but it's a sweet underdog story which appeals both to grown adults and little kids. It has heart, action, humor, some drama and it also has one of the best endings I've ever seen recently in a movie.
the hobbit was good. it's not as good as LOTR but they had awesome characters , soundtrack, smaug, action sequence, gollum. they were perfect prequels for LOTR. prequels of star wars are BAD except the 3rd one which was ok.
Isn't it pretty obvious that James Bond is the best action franchise. There's so much variety and with the exception of maybe one or two of them, all are good and/or really fun to watch
Logan Palmer For every 5 Bond movies, there are 2 classics, 2 meh and 1 which requires a reboot of the franchise. That's way better than any other franchise.
The third hobbit sucked. Really sucked. 1. Bilbo was hardly in a movie about bilbo 2. CGI was god awful 3. Love triangle was pathetic and failed miserably 4.smaug died in 5 mins of the movie 5. Pathetic attempt at comic relief with that lake town character 6. Some action scenes (especially legolas) were unbelievably bad 7. Orcs were reduced from being frightening enemy's to almost nothing with orcs being killed with ease. I really, really wanting to like but I couldnt.
BadassWalrus123 he should of died in the second one. They removed all dramatic tension by doing it In the third. It was a cheap ploy to get more people go come to third
This was the best episode of Movie Fights by far. I love the tag team thing, how everyone was there and that they didn't do it all organized but instead had more fun with it. Please do this more!
I have to agree with this one. I think the most off-putting part was the departure from uninterrupted initial arguments. The chipping from the get-go kinda didn't let arguments mature, imo.
Christian Lopez Just look up the defintition for *fight*. If you find the word 'civilized' or 'fair' in it, I'll straightaway agree with the complains of the two of you. Otherwise you two picked the wrong show, or you are just naive. Just go watch Teletubbies then.
James Edward Have you ever watched the show? To me it seems that the contenders don't know that and don't care either. And since when are fights civilised? What do you do in a civilised fight, try to not hit to hard or intentionally miss a few punches? I would be bored to death if they wouldn't take the fights by all available means serious, or else it would look fake. That's what makes it fun. Every time someone gets emotional and passionate, I have a blast. You probably mistake *Movie Fights* for an afternoon coffee party, it seems.
James Edward I disagree. All the other shows on Screen Junkies, schmoesknow, Popcorn Talk,*****, Chris Stuckmann, comicbookgirl19, *****, ***** and so on, are meant to inform people and to transfer opinions. The main purpose of Movie Fights is to entertain the audience with one of the most archaic concepts of entertainment in earths history...fights. The main weapon is movie nerd knowledge. The goal is to win in any and every way possible, because in the end, there is the belt. Don't take Movie Fights to serious. Have more fun!
Very true, in the end Hal didn't come up with a single cohesive reason as to why he thought the Hobbit films sucked. It was cool to see Jeremy floor him
Schmoes brought me here and I have no clue where the hell I've been because this channel is GREAT. I have re-watched Mundy's "Donner got fired...Donner got FIRED, Donner GOT FIRED!" part over and over and over. So damn hilarious
Yes, the Hobbit does suck. It's the biggest cash grab of the decade polluted with ugly CGI and absent of any of the LOTR trilogy's magic. Well, at least I have that trilogy to fall back upon.
I'd like to make a suggestion, in case anyone from screen junkies actually reads this: please change how you accept arguments made. 80% of the time, people are spending their energy simply tearing down the opponent's argument instead of making their own position stronger. I get that it's a "fight" but you guys can't seem to resolve if you're debating in the pure sense of the term or are going to do whatever you can to win, which most of the time seems to be to present a weak argument and then spend the bulk of the time deconstructing the opposing view just to compensate. This leads to people squawking and talking over each other, which does not make for pleasant viewing or listening.
fknrat Ideally, a good argument should both boost your choice and poke holes in the other person's. But everyone has their own style and tempers can flare.
From personal experience, I can say that's how a lot of "professional" debaters do it as well. Granted, they spend a little more time building their own argument, but a lot of energy is spent tearing down the oppositions argument. Not to mention, it's easier to destroy than to create!
I disagree. I enjoy watching them actually "fight" each other. My favorite part of this episode is when they started yelling over each other at the top of their lungs. It was great!
I like it almost just as it is. If I want to hear/see a civilised debate I'll go somewhere else. Here I want to see them fight (with their words) for whatever they believe in. Them talking over each other and shouting, to me, just shows their passion. Just my opinion though.
FIGHT 1 - Do the Hobbit movies suck? NO FIGHT 2 - Best Action Movie Franchise? Bond FIGHT 3 - Best Nic Cage movie since The Rock? Con Air FIGHT 4 - Who is the best action star since the 1980s? Jason Statham FIGHT 5 - What is the best Steven Spielberg film? E.T FIGHT 6 - Best movie with "movie" in the title? The Lego Movie FIGHT 7 - Should Back to the Future get a reboot? NO FIGHT 8 - Worst movie to win the Oscar for Best Picture? Shakespeare in Love
YES on Fight 8. Shakespeare in Love STILL blows my mind that it won Best Picture (especially considering it was up against Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line).
I was just about to post my own when I saw yours, the only ones I had different were Jaws in place of ET and Tom Cruise over Statham. Nice call on Shakespeare, I didn't know it had won best picture till I looked it up.
Avinash sonowal depends on what kind of audience they want to cater to. i think it'd be smarter to pander viewers that enjoy intelligent and hilarious debates, not mean and angry ones that appeal to negative-minded people. just saying. friendliness and humour is much more appealing than hostility and jeers.
Avinash sonowal true. only partially. and i'd still give my aforementioned feedback to alter that little bit of negative reality. you can still enjoy this kind of entertainment all you want really while i share my differing opinions. peace.
The Philosopher No, but it can be just as good to learn from a civilised debate. Personally, I sometimes watch to know more about a subject, I prefer the normal fights but with that humour. It's only fun if they're having a good time, but not to hostile or erratic. But that's just my opinion.
Imran Haque If that's the case then Hal should of won for his Schindler's List argument. The amount of passion in his argument should have been counted for more.
We finally get Jahns on the show and you guys completely blew it. I was so excited to see him argue his opinions, and half the time he's just carrying Harloff's torch. Please get him back, just have 3 contestants like you always do, and let me hear what Jahn's arguments would be.
Everyone realizes these guys are all friends are just being dicks to each other to be funny. When people are friends and we have debates this is what we do. These guys didn't take anything personally this episode it was all for fun. I personally enjoyed it. It was one of my favorite movie fights episode.
I got the impression Hal couldn't stand Jeremy or Kristian. TBH I didnt blame him. Those two made really irrational arguments throughout. They dismiss the argument that watchability makes ConAir better than Adaptation but then use exactly that same argument to claim Jurassic Park is better than Schindlers List!
This episode is probably the best best Movie Fight so far. The fights just keep going despite the rounds end. Nick and Jeremy yelling at each other like wrestlers - beautiful!
This was possibly the most fun episode of Movie Fights yet. Can we pleeeease see Nick Mundy, Christian Harloff and Roger Barr fight with Dan hosting and Andy fact checking. That would be the most explosive episode ever.
As loud and obnoxious as each of them are, they all do make good arguments in the end. I personally find Nick Mundy the most entertaining of all the Screen Junkies and their guests because of his enthusiasm and "obnoxious" nature. He puts on a great show unto himself. His "how to fix" episodes are always entertaining and generally pretty bang on. Harloff and and roger both have the same enthusiasm for movies as Nick does and I believe the three of them would fight harder to make their points in the loudest, most entertaining way possible. that's just my opinion though. I understand why many would disagree with me and I respect that. I just think that would be a very amusing episode
I really hope they don't bring Kristian Harloff back for anything else. He just got so butt-hurt and his yelling was unbearable. I watch movie fights for the mostly intellectual and insightful debates on movies with the occasional Mundy madness (in which there is quite often some very convincing arguments), not brutish yelling and screaming. I came extremely close to just closing the video when he screamed "waaaah waaaah" in response to an argument. Don't bring him back he ruins the show and everyone's eardrums.
What a little bitch your are...fatass beard face girl voice did the most yelling of anyone in that room. screen junkies suck balls. not even on Kristian's level
AcemanR So true. He was like a child who didn't like his toy. Also love how they couldn't even defend The Hobbit, They just tried to make fun of Rudnick
+DasGebargel I am reading the book and I have no idea what you're talking about. The movie, for the most part, keeps to the atmosphere of the book, which is why people seem to dislike them.
+DasGebargel I love the book, (all of those that revolve around Middle Earth), and I do have to say while I think the filmic adaption of LoTR was definitely better, I very much enjoyed watching The Hobbit, also due to hours and hours of BTS stuff that shows how much effort is put into the films. We get to revisit those places and characters, and no matter how close to the book they are, for me it's the characters, the landscapes, the soundtrack... not how close the dialogue is to the original.
Jonathan Bell for me personally, the athmosphere is not at all given. while the hobbit book always felt fresh, creative, mysterious, and fun, and the movies are characterless and try to be gritty/athmospherically dark, which doesn't work one bit.
+DasGebargel But that leads to another problematic situation. The adventurous fun side is great for you fans of the book, but someone like me who never read the book, would've felt put off by the jarring shift in tone from LOTR, he tried to get it to fit with the original trilogy, which I know is not what the book was but to me it always has to work as a movie first
+DasGebargel I will forever maintain my belief that the first Hobbit movie is just as good as the original trilogy and one of my favourite movies of all time. However, I do admit that the second and third are comparatively mediocre.
I'm actually a little offended that Jurassic Park beat Schindler's List. When Hal said, "Spielberg took a ginormous chance with Schindler's List" and Harloff interrupted that he took a ginormous chance with Jurassic Park I don't think he realized the extent of what he was saying... Schindler's List represents an unbelievable horror that took place in history and Jurassic Park is about dinosaurs. Are you kidding me? And since it's okay to say Fuck, Chris Pratt, I'm going to say Fuck, Harloff.
A little aggressive, but I agree, Harloff was too aggressive. They were talking so much more than Hal, and were also not arguing based on content, but rather success. Also, in the closing argument, Jeremy says "With a story you will listen to more than Schindler's List", I was like, no, just no.
Seth Rivas thank you so much, man! exactly how I feel.. i was just kind of shaking my head.. and I feel like they were bullying Hal to be honest, like I know Hal can fight his own battles but everyone on this show is a total dick to him when he has a lot of great points and ideas
Dans Eliot I get that, but I feel like Hal was cheated. They steered him away from the argument for the movie itself. Instead they argued about success, which got off of Hal's main points which were about great content. Content > Money. That's what I think.
While I sometimes disagree with Nick, I have to say he always puts up an amazing and emotional argument for what he chose. Perfect example was today with Jackass: The Movie.
OMG what a mess! It was entertaining to watch, don't get me wrong, but so confusing at the same time. Also, the fact that it was 2 versus 1 didn't feel right, if one team can have 2 members fighting, then the other team should too. I didn't know Jeremy Jahns prior to this, but for a super guest star that everybody asked for, he seemed "underused". Harloff did all the talking. I like the more structured shows, but one crazy freebie once in a while is fun. Just at least talk about it with each other before taping the show ;)
Screen Junkies please do not allow jeremy to do a team up, never heard of him before and I still don't, he barely spoke and just wasn't anywhere near as fun as previously done.
This is about enterteinment, boys! This is fun! I loved the episode! Loved the surprise of a team up! And, MY GOD, that couch and that Hand Shake... that's awesome! You gotta love that! Please do more of this! But i do agree that cannot happens too often... it's like that really really good joke that can't happens all the time.
What an epic episode. Well done guys, it may have seemed like a mess but I felt like I was in the room chilling there with you all. When you get a bunch of the guys together to talk movies, games, sports or almost anything you can have an opinion on, it'll get like this. Great episode. Andy, as I watch more and more of these movie fights you are progressing towards legendary status to me. What a guy.
Since Back To the Future was skipped, my question is this: what current day vehicle could replace the DeLorean as a time travel device? It certainly can't be the new VW Beetles.
roneit The funny thing is most military members think Hurt Locker is horrible. Mostly because everyone always says OMG it is so realistic. No, no it is not
B00ndokz interesting, I didn't know that. I didn't think the movie sucks, but it was just ok. I never had the interest to watch again and at the middle I thought: ok, what was so great about this movie to win an Oscar? Crash was not that good too, but if I had to choose between the two of them, it would be Hurt Locker.
Oliver Bensusan I guess you're right about that. But that's still more than two sequels. Though, I admit, I'm not one to judge since I've only seen four.
This was the craziest, most cluster-fucked episode ever. I don't want to watch this format ever again. That said, this was a great episode. I just think it's like that massive piece of cake that you eat when you really don't need to. It's so good, but you never want to see cake again in that moment.
Screen Junkies Hell I loved it and even preferred it over the past episodes. Not that they are bad or anything, I've just been eagerly awaiting more yelling and swearing. It got so intense.
Please do this again, it's amazing seeing the energy with so many people, but perhaps teams of 2? Or just have the other guys as an audience, just hearing the laughter from them makes the whole episode funnier.
I never got past the first few minutes. If they want to talk to themselves fine, they can do that alone, if they want to talk to an audience, they need to remember one is there.
I know that I'm 5 years late, but I actually saw Lord of the Rings after I saw the first two Hobbit movies and I really like the Hobbit movies. Hal calls it boring and I honestly feel the same way that he does but about Fellowship of the Ring. Two Towers and Return of the King are actually enjoyable fantastic films to me, but I don't understand the hate on the Hobbit for a above casual movie viewer.
Don't ever do this rotating team again, don't think that it entirely worked that well. Should have just been Jeremy, Kristian and Spencer. Can't stand when Nick and Hal only make their points by yelling over everyone else.
16:15 Both sides presented great arguments? This is the second or third time I watched this video and the only thing Hal was doing was screaming about the 'lack of tension' and how the movies are nothing compared to LOTR instead of, you know, actually giving arguments about why the movies aren't that great?? I mean I'm with Jeremy and Kristian not just because I like the movies, but because they had actual arguments that make sense and were paying attention to the question. So as much as I want to hear the other side of the argument (because I do enjoy hearing other's reason about why they like or dislike something) Hal wasn't arguing, he was just yelling stuff.
No! The Hobbit movies are great!! And stay away from my Tauriel and Kili! I don't care if it was presented poorly, it's a cute relationship. And how is there no dramatic tension in the third movie!? You must not have a heart if you felt nothing during those death scenes
How can you feel anything during the deaths when you care zilch for the characters. You just need to see more movies, because you clearly need more contrast. No drama, no tension, only hours and hours of an endless cgi suckfest.
Surprised no one went Jaews or Saving Private Ryan for Speilberg's best. Ryan was visceral. Gripping. Raw. So many scenes that were insane and immortal. Even how he juxtaposes the beach landing immediately with the flame throwers' lazy work killing what's left, when it's not a fight it's just cleaning up. The sneaky ways in which he captured a hyperreality were epic. And everyone forgets the knife fight. The claustrophobic craziness with the German soldier shushing he guy while he dies. I haven't seen that movie in forever and I remember grimacing in the theater.
Top Gun (1986) disqualifies Tom Cruise. It is considered an action movie. Tom started action movies in the 80s. So he should be thrown in with Bruce Willis and the rest.
Good point. Not history but it took history and put a new spin on it. You learn a lot of actual history during the movie. Sure masons are a bunch of conspiracy theorist crackpots but it was interesting, had a good plot, great cast, well directed, you get involved in the movie and even though you know it's fake it's an adventure story you wish were true. And it's the only movie I've liked cage in in a while
Does anyone know where to find the clip of dan and Andy yelling at each other that got cut from this episode???? Dan said on sju that this was the fight it happened on
Hal is grasping at straws for why the Hobbit movies were bad. I 100% agree they arent as good as LotR but to say they are bad movies like the Star Wars prequels are bad movies really shows he doesnt get basic cinema. The Prequels were badly acted, badly written, and only loosely connected to the original 3 Star Wars films
A bit chaotic, but I love all you guys so it was fun. We want longer shows! I listen via podcast. I no longer hate Mondays knowing you guys are waiting for me!
Round 6 should've gone to Superman. Nick basically just said Jackass was really good without saying why, while Christian actually gave a good argument. Legit got me pissed when Nick won
This was painful to watch, and a complete mistake. Everyone acted like children except jeremy, who I feel enormous sympathy for. It's a shame we'll probably never see him on screen junkies movie fights again, because he deserves better than this.
really you all seem like fanboys. I am fanboy myself but it's called a opinion just get over it you all.
Well, you happen to be wrong. Jeremy participated in the Movie Fights and he has a new Screen Junkies show called Movie Games. He's a great sport and seemed to be having a blast.
Finnegan Gooding
HE seemed to take things seriously so no
I dont know how Jeremy kept himself together. I would have flipped out, especially at Hal.
Jeremy fanboy? This is a fight show, nobody is supposed to be nice. Rudeness is appropriate.
one2gaming Actually coming from a screen junkies fan I had to admit Hal was wigging out on Jeremy.
Julian Morello That's the argument people make for Transformers. Enjoyable to watch for SOME, still sucks.
Jeremy Jahns: Smooth and calm. Everyone else; yell over the other guy. Jahns know how to handle a room.
THANK YOU! You seem to be the only one that sees that! Jeremy was being fair in his arguments and never condescending. I feel everyone disliked him because every time he tried to talk, Hal decided to cut him off.
Jeremy wasn't ready... you put a boxer in a all out street fight. Movie Fights is a melee, Jahns wasn't prepared for the savagery.
+Brennan Schultz Yeah, watching it again he is just too nice a guy haha. Those guys were ready to battle, J stayed smooth but in this show you gotta put your thing down. If it was Movie Parties I'm sure Jahns would win lol
Jeremy actually seems like he knows how to argue, you know without just shouting.
Nah I love his channel but he's bad at this. Watch the live comic con movie fight
+Clothy22 watch elijah wood's movie fight. 'twas awesome!
+Evan Ritchey I will fully admit that he didn't put up much of a fight in that one fight, but throughout this entire episode Jeremy would serve up great points only to be countered with "ABLAHAGHHHHAGAHA! *fart noise*"
If he were to come on here one more time, I think we'd actually get a fair shot at seeing his debate skills.
+Evan Ritchey Jeremy is a good debater and I feel that this being more of aroyal rumble thing, we didn't get to see him argue comfortably, which if it were the case he'd have shredded
Completely disagree. He argued like a Reddit troll. He has a great channel though.
Next movie fight: Who is the Best music movie composer?
For example: Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Horner, Alan Silvestri,
Ennio Morricone, Steve Jablonski, Howard Shore, John Powell,
Danny Elfman, Michael Giaccino, etc.
John Williams all the way
Hans
clint mansel
Trent Reznor's inching his way into this hall of fame. I know he's only done Fincher films, but his work stands out.
Zimmer has the wow appeal and gives a sense of epic scale to films he scores, but his music rarely has high artistic value and depth like that of John Williams. Both are good composers.
This was a battle! Always fun guys, thank you.
u guys r the toughest competitors. would love to see u guys more in future
When is mark Ellis facing off against nick Mundy?
schmoesknow Thanks for helping us kick it up a notch Kristian!
Its always great to see you guys here.
Kristian, Fuck Off you hack!!!!!
Am I the only one who thought Hal came across as a jerk in this video? In the Hobbit debate he barely let Jeremy and the other guy talk...
Hal is always like that. He is all noise and little substance.
he is always like that #FUCKHALRUDNICK
nah I enjoyed hal in that debate although I disagreed, you could tell he was talking out of his ass, but he treated it like a joke, whereas someone like andy would've gotten all bitchy about it.
I love Hal, he is by far the most entertaining fighter.
He was passiveagressive as fuck, hence the hate
I'm pretty sure Jeremy and Kristian decided to team up ahead of time.
Jeremy sucked man, lets be honest. He opinion didnt really go beyond saying whether or not he liked something. Even in his show, he doesnt really demonstrate any particular knowledge of film, he's just an entertaining guy saying whether or not he liked films.
Mashood Khan hal rudnick 1st topic, hearing his arguments made me bored
Yeah, I agree.
I agree the hobbit were good movies. the book was kiddish and would not have been a good movie but I was surprised
Jeremy trolling Hal is definitely the highlight of my life.
Hal has just no valid points with Hobbit
Couldn’t take Hal seriously when he said “ omg the movies are sooo long”
Been watching Movie Fights for a few months now, culminating in this episode.
Totally agree. I dont care about the gender of the guests though. Some of the female guests have irritated me with dumb arguments too.
You made a really great point there and I agree, except (like Mashood Khan above me) about the female guests, of which I agree with him ;)
In respect to the female guests - totally, they are not immune to dumb arguments either.
Kristian Harloff is the biggest Dickhead
He's so obnoxious and annoying in this! Yes it's a team up, but why is it ONE Screen Junkies representative arguing against TWO Jahns/Harloff?? Seems unfair. Harloff SUCKS.
jdlaw001 My feelings exactly
jdlaw001 Thanks JD!
patrick sanderson Interesting, love to hear your thoughts pal.
jdlaw001 YES! this really annoyed me as well...
I'd definitely like to see Jeremy back on his own instead of teamed up. The mayhem was kind of fun, but I want to see him holding his own rather than a team member speaking for him.
Tom Cadogan We let him and Kristian do it - but we agree! next time we're making him fight on his own
Yeah next time I want more Jeremy.
Yeah, Jeremy didn´t shine as much as he would have flying solo
Spencer Gilbert looks like both a spencer and a gilbert
Trayton Sutherland I love this comment so much
It's nice that, amidst all of the negativity about the behavior of the people on the show, one guy just points this out.
Get your shit together ScreenJunkies.
second that
***** I would never waste my time getting a degree in film, however personally I believe that if someone such as Jahns is claiming to be a 'professional film critic' then they should probably be able to understand the subtleties and layers of films?
Anyone who advocates that Crash treats the subject of racism with subtlety and intelligence is a moron. It is heavy-handed, obvious and pandering; the exact kind of film that American audiences absorb like a sponge because every man and his dog can identify the overt 'good message' the movie promotes e.g. American Sniper.
It was so good
Agreed. Jahns was just... No.
I think I've watched two jahns reviews. They don't go past just explaining the plot. A lack of in depth movie reviews on TH-cam is a problem.
12:05 I can think of so many times there was dramatic tension :/
Riddles in the Dark
Thorin v Azog (An Unexpected Journey)
Bilbo meets Smaug
White Council attacks Dol-Guldor
just to name a few off the top of my head
No there wasnt. I at least was not invested in the characters, I did not care for Thorin or Bilbo or even Gandalf and thats a shame
There was no tension in Dol-guldur
I would give you Riddles in the Dark and probably Bilbo meets Smaug. The rest of the stuff was (at least to me) pointless, or boring. But, I respect your opinion and I am not trying to just tell you your wrong.
Love that we're encouraging such debate in the comments! Gonna try and reply to as many of you as I can for the next half hour or so - got any questions?
Yes, why don't you ever pick Bond for best franchise/ Action movies.
Could Ewan Mcgreggor make a good bond ?
Great episode! You guys are awesome!
How can I get Screen Junkie T-shirts? Can I buy one?
You forgot Tom Cruise in Collateral, that is an automatic win reply.
Here's a suggestion: reprimand Hal. He's not likable.
Andy Montanez they were definitely being pretty belligerent for sure this episode smh
Andy Montanez agreed. That's how everyone should behave at these debates. The guy from schmoes is a douche but he is always interrupting people! When they complaint about the reporter that was rude to RDJ he didn't even let anyone talk! it was so rude
***** Lmao really? Thats pretty weird considering they were making such a big deal about him being there
This was the hardest episode to sit through.
Wishlist of people I want to see on Movie Fights:
1. Jeremy Jahns again
2. Chris Stuckmann
3. Nostalgia Critic/Doug Walker
4. Jeremy from CinemaSins
5. Andre/Black Nerd
TimmySmidge We are trying to get all of them on at some point - they're spread out across the USA!
I want to see Chris Stuckmann vs Jeremy Jahns vs the Flick Pick
all those are fine except Nostalgia Critic. The last thing we need on this channel is more screaming nonsense.
Flick Pick would be GREAT
I would pay to see Doug on this show.
Almog Dov Dan here - I had a blast, even though it might not look like it. Judging is hard!
Screen Junkies
Looking forward to seeing you defending your belt next week!
I can't imagine how stressful that was for Dan, but he did a great job! I love watching Andy fight, though, because he's amazingly good at it. I want to see more fights with Andy and Dan both fighting. :)
Hal, shut up, it's "best argument wins", not "loudest yell".
Rotten Tomatoes: Critics and Audience
Hobbit 1: 64% and 83%
Hobbit 2: 74% and 86%
Hobbit 3: 60% and 76%
Movies that suck DON'T get these scores.
Those critic scores aren't very good.
USSEnterprise3453 true... but they don't suck
Agreed. Good movies for sure.
Dude, studios pay companies to score good reviews in pages like rotten tomatos and imdb. Thats a fact.
Yep
I didn't like Hobbit series myself, but the way Jeremy was all composed and the points he brought up, my god he destroyed
+LiquidAurum Abso flying lutely
not for me. there was nothing that could convince me those films were good. Although I will say the extended version of battle of the five armies was very entertaining.
"John Stewart will be around for decades" - John Stewart then announces he's retiring.
Reboots or sequels, fuck no! Nobody can ever beat Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and the DeLorean, definitely no one.
Back to the Future is timeless and untouchable... except for the 3rd one; that one sucks.
cuzthechicksdigit You nailed it.
Jeremy had class. Hal didn't. That's all.
i fucking hate hal he just screams at people and is always way to dramatic
U wot m8 indeed he is. Yelling at people not bringing arguments, he has his opinion no matter what and everyone else is wrong. Thats just childish. Jeremy was completely calm
Max Krampe Exactly! I like Jeremy way better.
U wot m8 I agree with you but that quote is hilarious
Max Krampe He's just acting, it's a show, chillout.
Such a crazy episode but I love it! So much chaos, such great arguments
Ryan Smith Thanks Ryan!
Really?
yes
Yeah. He can say that. People can strongly disagree with a lot of critics. I wouldn't give any of these movies those types of ratings (not counting LotR, just the Hobbit). And I can think of at least one or two other times where I disagreed with all of my favorite critics. That's how subjectivity works.
@@thegoodprince3264 knock it off man there are a lot of idiots like him around
Yes!
oof
I hope screen junkies sticks to their guns, however, and refuses more tag teams lol
not true at all, he brought home the point for the con air vs adaptation debate.
I think he would be 10x better if he comes back under the normal fight format.
WOW! That was first "Movie Fights" that I watched from beginning to the end!
RussianWalkthrough Impressive! I think it was our longest one yet!
I love Movie Fights, for me it's must watch on an early Sunday evening the minute it's uploaded. A group of passionate people giving it their all around a desk is more entertaining than most tv shows.
This episode went from amazingly enjoyable to nitro injected pressure cooker nuclear meltdown insanity in the first few minutes and it was glorious.
haha thanks for the kind words Neil! This episode was truly for the fans :)
When Hal was acting like a prick at 6:20 and then Jeremy said "You need more energy". OWNED
Can't believe they didn't mention that TOM CRUISE DOES ALL HIS OWN STUNTS!!!
All...? Or most? Big difference!
Jackass over Superman: the Movie?!!!
Bullshit.
Absolutely NOT.
It's about the argument.
dumb
Jackass is better lol
+Jeffrey Lebowski That's like ... Your opinion dude ... but I completely support it :D
the hobbit was good. it's not as good as LOTR but they had awesome characters , soundtrack, smaug, action sequence, gollum. they were perfect prequels for LOTR. prequels of star wars are BAD except the 3rd one which was ok.
good comment
Isn't it pretty obvious that James Bond is the best action franchise. There's so much variety and with the exception of maybe one or two of them, all are good and/or really fun to watch
Hey it's a matter of opinion. For example, I'm not a huge fan of empire strikes back. We all have our opinions
It's about half-and-half in terms of quality. For every good Bond movie there's a terrible one (yes, even in the Sean Connery era.)
Since those that Connery made, right till the last one - those movies was crap-, generic, product placement, predictable crap.
Logan Palmer For every 5 Bond movies, there are 2 classics, 2 meh and 1 which requires a reboot of the franchise. That's way better than any other franchise.
Roy Bustillo of course not! this is the most money making franchise and getting better with every new installation
The third hobbit sucked. Really sucked.
1. Bilbo was hardly in a movie about bilbo
2. CGI was god awful
3. Love triangle was pathetic and failed miserably
4.smaug died in 5 mins of the movie
5. Pathetic attempt at comic relief with that lake town character
6. Some action scenes (especially legolas) were unbelievably bad
7. Orcs were reduced from being frightening enemy's to almost nothing with orcs being killed with ease.
I really, really wanting to like but I couldnt.
I agree that the CGI was pretty bad
He died that quick in the book too :/
BadassWalrus123 he should of died in the second one. They removed all dramatic tension by doing it In the third. It was a cheap ploy to get more people go come to third
MrSmiley9432 he did tbf. I have to say I was impressed with smaug in general
You didn't like how you can kill a orc by simply hitting him with a small rock? lol
This was the best episode of Movie Fights by far. I love the tag team thing, how everyone was there and that they didn't do it all organized but instead had more fun with it. Please do this more!
Stop interrupting each other please. Very frustrating to watch.
I have to agree with this one. I think the most off-putting part was the departure from uninterrupted initial arguments. The chipping from the get-go kinda didn't let arguments mature, imo.
You're the typical TH-cam commenter it seems, taking things to an extreme and out of logical context. There's no need to respond further to you.
Christian Lopez Just look up the defintition for *fight*. If you find the word 'civilized' or 'fair' in it, I'll straightaway agree with the complains of the two of you. Otherwise you two picked the wrong show, or you are just naive. Just go watch Teletubbies then.
James Edward
Have you ever watched the show?
"A man in jail can smile once"
Probably the best line.
"Did I *bring it home* Jeremy?"
I lost alot of respect for Hal. It was good to see ***** mop the floor with him.
How? Jeremy ended up not knowing what to say...
***** That sounds like Hal all the time to me.
Very true, in the end Hal didn't come up with a single cohesive reason as to why he thought the Hobbit films sucked. It was cool to see Jeremy floor him
Hal use to make good arguments but sometimes he just jells a lot and dont listen the others
Ja Klaudije
Because Hal keeps repeating a busted point (not as good as LoTR), and keeps interrupting Jeremy...
Agreed
Yes you two vs the rest of the world...
even transformer 4 is better, right?
Alvar Ma At least T4 was mildly entertaining. Hobbit was just shameful
Alvar Ma no just no
I'd like to make a suggestion, in case anyone from screen junkies actually reads this: please change how you accept arguments made.
"It's a Powerpoint presentation of a movie" is the most honest and poignant commentary I have ever heard.
+Robert Garza Spencer is an evil dark lord ! big fan :D
That Mega Powers team up was literally the best moment in TH-cam history
FIGHT 1 - Do the Hobbit movies suck? NO
FIGHT 2 - Best Action Movie Franchise? Bond
FIGHT 3 - Best Nic Cage movie since The Rock? Con Air
FIGHT 4 - Who is the best action star since the 1980s? Jason Statham
FIGHT 5 - What is the best Steven Spielberg film? E.T
FIGHT 6 - Best movie with "movie" in the title? The Lego Movie
FIGHT 7 - Should Back to the Future get a reboot? NO
FIGHT 8 - Worst movie to win the Oscar for Best Picture? Shakespeare in Love
We know, we read the description
Katahn Hardy He wrote that comment to show his answers on the fights not just to list the fights/rounds.
Oh my goodness I forgot that Shakespeare in Love won best picture. Wow, how has anyone ever trusted the Academy after that?
YES on Fight 8. Shakespeare in Love STILL blows my mind that it won Best Picture (especially considering it was up against Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line).
I was just about to post my own when I saw yours, the only ones I had different were Jaws in place of ET and Tom Cruise over Statham.
Nice call on Shakespeare, I didn't know it had won best picture till I looked it up.
this was the most amazing episode yet
so excited for next week
Here's a good fight: "Worst actor, to have won Best Actor at the Academy Awards?"
NICOLAS CAGE!!!
Halle Berry.
+James Boyle Roberto Benigni
damn so much heat. can't a debate be friendly?
Avinash sonowal
depends on what kind of audience they want to cater to. i think it'd be smarter to pander viewers that enjoy intelligent and hilarious debates, not mean and angry ones that appeal to negative-minded people. just saying. friendliness and humour is much more appealing than hostility and jeers.
Avinash sonowal true. only partially. and i'd still give my aforementioned feedback to alter that little bit of negative reality. you can still enjoy this kind of entertainment all you want really while i share my differing opinions. peace.
Wally FOUND YOU!
The Philosopher friendly 'fights' over ugly 'fights' any time. to each his own.
The Philosopher No, but it can be just as good to learn from a civilised debate. Personally, I sometimes watch to know more about a subject, I prefer the normal fights but with that humour. It's only fun if they're having a good time, but not to hostile or erratic. But that's just my opinion.
Bad calls Dan, bad calls.
Hey I love your channel keep up the good work
I think he made fair calls. u have to understand this fight is about putting better arguments than the movie or subject u r arguing about.
Man, and I thought Guru was awesome before I knew he watched screen junkies.
Imran Haque If that's the case then Hal should of won for his Schindler's List argument. The amount of passion in his argument should have been counted for more.
Jason Renfrow but to Dan it's the other team that put the better argument here
We finally get Jahns on the show and you guys completely blew it. I was so excited to see him argue his opinions, and half the time he's just carrying Harloff's torch. Please get him back, just have 3 contestants like you always do, and let me hear what Jahn's arguments would be.
I want the Nostalgia Critic to be the next guest.
We do too! We're working on it... it involves travel so its not as easy as we'd like!
Sweet! Epic cross over!!!!
Screen Junkies It would be awesome if you could somehow get James Rolfe on!
Rewatched this fight today, and I want a Jahns and Harloff vs Screen Junkies rematch! Book it screen junkies!!
+Liam Crowley minus Hal please!
Everyone realizes these guys are all friends are just being dicks to each other to be funny. When people are friends and we have debates this is what we do. These guys didn't take anything personally this episode it was all for fun. I personally enjoyed it. It was one of my favorite movie fights episode.
Nah, Kristian and Hal hate eachother
Roachimon Do they really or are you being sarcastic?
I got the impression Hal couldn't stand Jeremy or Kristian. TBH I didnt blame him. Those two made really irrational arguments throughout. They dismiss the argument that watchability makes ConAir better than Adaptation but then use exactly that same argument to claim Jurassic Park is better than Schindlers List!
Mashood Khan Dude it's not a serious debate. Just have fun...
I know its just for fun but come on, this pattern of 'the loudest guy wins' is getting pretty annoying.
Finally! They got Jeremy Jahns!
Spencer was my favorite in the Screen Junkies team, damn, the others were uselessly loud.
I agree
That sounds awful. By explosive do you mean loud, obnoxious and immature?
Wow movie fights is getting personal. I hope they don't hate each other after this fight
thats just like your opinion man.
New Life New life huh... How about get one!
AcemanR So true. He was like a child who didn't like his toy.
Also love how they couldn't even defend The Hobbit, They just tried to make fun of Rudnick
as a fan of the hobbit book, i was as entertained by the movie as were avatar fans by the last airbender.
And again, I love this show and I'm a big fan of schmoesknow, but come on, guys,,, You were laughing about the holocaust...
You have to understand that is not the movie who lost. The argument did lose.
Dans Eliot I get that, but I feel like Hal was cheated. They steered him away from the argument for the movie itself. Instead they argued about success, which got off of Hal's main points which were about great content. Content > Money. That's what I think.
Does anyone else watch this and disagree with Nick Mundy on literally every argument he makes?
Not all, but probably almost all.
Nick is a great man. "To beat the man, you gotta BE THE MAN!"
While I sometimes disagree with Nick, I have to say he always puts up an amazing and emotional argument for what he chose. Perfect example was today with Jackass: The Movie.
Wilf McGuinness Fair point, and while I'm a huge Jackass fan, I don't think it's better than Superman.
I disagree with most, but I enjoy his energy...
Just at least talk about it with each other before taping the show ;)
***** We prepped for the traditional format but crazy things happen on Movie Fights sometimes!
Screen Junkies
Clearly! Just ask your next guests to not throw curve balls like this every week. Crazy episodes like this should be a treat ;)
Screen Junkies please do not allow jeremy to do a team up, never heard of him before and I still don't, he barely spoke and just wasn't anywhere near as fun as previously done.
Yeah, in watching it now, if I could do it again, I wouldn't have agreed on a "team up". Life is all about "live & learn" I suppose.
It certainly can't be the new VW Beetles.
good question
nothing can replace a DeLorean
Pagani Huayra.
Good question for next week. What car made after 1990 should be used as the time travel vehicle in a reboot of Back to the Future?
Toyota corolla
LOL I love that a few people in the comment section are saying Jeremy is a prick and all just because he defended the hobbit movies
No, most people here hate the fact that he didn't appreciate The Hurt Locker... and to think he talks about movies for a living.
mahdogzbite Anyone who hates other's opinions should learn to respect different opinions.
mahdogzbite Well, I hated The Hurt Locker too. But it seems to be a sin to say something bad about an american soldier movie in USA.
roneit The funny thing is most military members think Hurt Locker is horrible.
Jeremy from cinema sins make it happen
can we all give this comment more likes
Oh man! He would be great
7:47 - 7:55
This entire episode summed up in 8 seconds.
Next Movie Fight: How many sequels should a movie have before there are too many?
Two.
Oliver Bensusan Tell that to the James Bond franchise.
Arthus850 The James Bond franchise is very mediocre on the whole. Out of 24 + films only 5-6 are good.
When the movies start to suck.
Oliver Bensusan I guess you're right about that. But that's still more than two sequels. Though, I admit, I'm not one to judge since I've only seen four.
Love how intense they get. Like a boxing match
TheGreatOne313 It felt like that at points haha
Screen Junkies JEWWW
This was the craziest, most cluster-fucked episode ever. I don't want to watch this format ever again.
That said, this was a great episode. I just think it's like that massive piece of cake that you eat when you really don't need to. It's so good, but you never want to see cake again in that moment.
IrishColin94 Hahaha, great description!
Screen Junkies you could do it again but just need 1 more mic for actual 2vs2, maybe like a little more prep time for that but i think it will work :)
Or even Andy instead of Spencer, either way
I think Jeremy Jahns would be a better judge than a fighter.
Awesome to see Jeremy in this. Chris Stuckmann for next guest!
Jahns MUST come back
Agreed! We're huge fans ***** and can't wait to bring him back!
No! The Hobbit movies are great!! And stay away from my Tauriel and Kili! I don't care if it was presented poorly, it's a cute relationship. And how is there no dramatic tension in the third movie!? You must not have a heart if you felt nothing during those death scenes
Good points!
They weren't great, but they weren't bad either. But I didn't like Tauriel and Kili.
How can you feel anything during the deaths when you care zilch for the characters. You just need to see more movies, because you clearly need more contrast. No drama, no tension, only hours and hours of an endless cgi suckfest.
I felt nothing..
Spoilers
Wow I didn't know Jeremy could be so smooth! He is owning everyone!
Yeah. The Rock wasn't a very good choice for them though. He did mention Top Gun in his argument. Super annoying.
well tom cruise is a "action star" with mission impossible (maybe even with mi2) just doing an action movie doesnt make you an action star
Having a successful action movie does. I thought the point was to pick someone who wasn't a action star in the 80s, Tom was.
i was thinking the same thing.. should had been disqualified
I was saying that to myself the whole time they were arguing his point.
At 5:50 you can tell Jeremy Jahns is already fed up with Hal
So basicly the winner is the one with best argument and the best argument is the one ful of BS. Poor Jeremy Johns
and the best arguments are also loudest. Dumb Nick Mundy.
Brett Palmer nick mundy is really dumb....
If he wasn't so loud I would just say I disagree with him but he behaves like a kid and he wins his arguments.
How is it that I like Hal when he's hosting other Screen Junkies stuff, but hate his guts when he's arguing on Movie Fights?
I'm disappointed no one mentioned Lord of War...
Was thinking the same thing. One of Nicolas cage's most underrated movie.
My favorite Nicolas Cage movie. He got to be weird while being a powerfully dramatic character.
I think national treasure. Made history interesting again for so many people.. Had comedy, was awesome
And it's the only movie I've liked cage in in a while
Agreed. It's a good movie with a good point.
Does anyone know where to find the clip of dan and Andy yelling at each other that got cut from this episode???? Dan said on sju that this was the fight it happened on
Get the Podcast on iTunes and listen from around 1:02:00 into the fight
Hal is grasping at straws for why the Hobbit movies were bad. I 100% agree they arent as good as LotR but to say they are bad movies like the Star Wars prequels are bad movies really shows he doesnt get basic cinema. The Prequels were badly acted, badly written, and only loosely connected to the original 3 Star Wars films
A bit chaotic, but I love all you guys so it was fun. We want longer shows! I listen via podcast. I no longer hate Mondays knowing you guys are waiting for me!
The Hobbit argument doesn't have enough dramatic tension.
I agree with Tom Cruise as the best action actor of the last couple of decades.
