I feel the fiasco has been framed incorrectly as a matter of subjective principle, to make it easier to gaslight the critics, because it's a lot easier to make them out to be the unreasonable ones for not respecting morale boosting events, when it's truly about violating a set of rules, not the temporary regulations about social gathering, but a long established code of conduct that are fundamental to correct procedure in government and the integrity of democracy.
