Iron Maiden end the European leg of The Future Past Tour with a show at Wacken Open Air 2023. And it was possibly one of the most emotional shows I've seen in a long time. Iron Maiden and the fans showed simply an incredible amount of love... and especially to Nicko McBrain, it was totally understandable!

Nicko really is amazing. He said in his press release that he's 70% recovered, but Nicko at 70% is still better than most drummers at 100%.

My dad is the same age as Nicko. He also had a stroke, just a week and a half ago. Nicko's recovery gives me hope for my dad. He's got a tough road ahead.
I hope he recovers quickly, stay strong

I'm so glad you got to see Maiden after all. I saw them in Birmingham (UK) earlier in the tour, and even though I've seen them many times before, there was definitely something extra special about this time around.
I saw them in Birmingham too and I've seen them loads of times but yeah it was awesome the sound was incredible

Living this dream, helping your country and losing your voice screaming at the top of your lungs... amazing. Leaving the camera behind is de geatest decision you've made that night. By the way, Somewhere is my favorite album too.

I think Nicko's stroke has made the band realize tomorrow is not promised that at any time it could all end at anytime. So now they are really allowing themselves to enjoy every minute of it.

Was this the first time they ever used the maiden logo on a backdrop? I saw they used it on the song iron maiden and I absolutely loved it!
The band chemistry is really good and for a good musician is important not to be bored on stage. Nobody wants to see a band live and to see them being there on stage only for the money. This is the main reason why the fan base of Maiden is so loyal. The band has never forgotten where they come from. And I have them never seen angry on stage or bored. Thank you for your video and your view of all these things.
I was at the Manchester show and I was closer to the stage than I'd ever been before. It was just fantastic to see all the little interactions between the various members on stage. I love this band so much, they make me so happy!

I saw them in Birmingham and it was definitely the best sound I’ve ever heard at a Maiden concert, and I would never have known about Nicko’s issue, to me he sounded as solid as ever 🤘😬. Glad you enjoyed it 😊

As I mentioned before, I had seen Maiden live the Saturday before Wacken in Frankfurt. That was my sixth time that I was on a Maiden concert and also at the concert in Frankfurt I had exactly the feeling what you had now in Wacken. It seemed to me that the band was very loose and relaxed and that they just wanted to make music for their fans and the Maiden family. I had watched the videos I had made the night I got home (of the Blade Runner intro, the beginning of Alexander the Great and the middle part of Iron maiden) and was so overwhelmed with emotions and feelings that I was allowed to be there and especially to experience this tour with the songs from the Somewhere in Time album. The concert was without a doubt one of the best Maiden concerts I've had (2000 at With Full Force is out of competition for me because that was my first Maiden concert) and if this really should be some kind of conclusion of the live activities of Iron Maiden... it would be perfect for me. The Future Past Tour is maybe one of the best tours Iron Maiden has done in the last 15 years.
It's because they finally played "Alexander the Great" live. Kidding. I am so happy Nicko is doing great. The band does look happy. I hope they play in my area in the US. I will NOT miss this tour.

Since they could very well call it quits during this tour, i will definitely be at the show!!! i do have a question regarding Fear of the Dark. Have they slowed the song down in concert? In your video, at 1:03, it doesn't have the speed like on the studio version. I have noticed that other times in concert gigs.

I saw them some 10 years ago, and they had that energetic stage presence then too. It just looked like they were having a blast, genuinely having a great time up on stage and really getting into that crowd participation. It still stands out as one of the best live performances I've ever seen, the whole feel is just different compared to watching a DVD performance of them.

I hope that the band has recorded and released an official concert video.
There must have been some reason why it was not allowed to stream the concert.
I think also that they recorded this show for official release. Maybe they released blu ray or something like that. You can see that "running" camera front of stage some videos of this gig.
Greetings-once again-from the UK-England/Britain.....in February 1978 i went to my first gig ever-i would have been 17-to see Rush in Leicester,England...since that day i`ve been to thousands of gigs and even at 62 years of age,i plan to carry on for many more years.In all that time-over 45 years-i`ve NEVER taken a camera,mobile phone,recording device or anything of that ilk to a show with me,why ?....You hit the nail on the head when you said once you ignored your camera/filming the show just how much your whole experience/outlook changed and that in itself should speak volumes...I`m glad you had a great time and next time-leave the camera at home.

This tour has been amazing! We can moan about some song choices in the setlist, till we watch it live! Then we realize it works very well! But the absolute gems are CSIT, Stranger, ATG and HOE. Stage looks great and the band is just killing it! Long Live the Irons!!!
I saw them in July in Amsterdam, and last year on the Legacy of the Beast tour and agree that they just seem to be enjoying themselves so much more this time around.
I usually watch Dave - I had a major crush on him in the 80s and it's partly habit, but also it's because when he's smiling it lights up his whole face (part of what led to that 80s crush - one of the photos on the inside of Number of the Beast). He smiled a lot more on this tour than I've seen since the first time I saw them way back when.
I'm glad you got to experience this concert. I would LOVE to see them perform live again! They are the best band, ever.
It was an amazing show. My first time in Wacken and my third Maiden Show, but the best. My voice is still off two days later.. I'm happy we both shared this awesome experience.🤟

Wacken and the first Munich show were the best I have ever seen them. The spirit and chemistry on this 2 shows were from another planet.

Interessting fact:
I was at the show in munich on august 1st. At the end of the show bruce said something like "thank you munich we will see us again" ...yes words you would expect after a show..the interessting thing was what happend after that he smiled and said "i promise" and left the stage...so i hope and think this was a sign that this was not the last tour 😁👍🤘

How was the crowd like all the way at the front? I ask because I’ve always wanted to go up to the front and it’s on my bucket list to do so before they retire from touring
They raise their arms a few times but basically are asleep. Modern crowds suck

quite honestly dude that's every show I've ever been to that's why they have one of the largest fan bases in the world. Their honesty onstage is unlike any other bands.

I think the band is performing with all this cohesiveness, with the members interacting with each other, having fun together with the fans because unfortunately it's Iron Maiden's last big tour. And we who love the band need to understand: they are gentlemen over 60 years old. It's even surprising that they still play so many concerts. They've already done a lot for heavy metal. Iron Maiden don't need to prove anything to anyone. His biography is almost complete and will close soon in all glory. And there's nothing wrong with that. And congratulations on helping the civilians of Ukraine. The ukrainian people (and not their damn elite/government) are the biggest victims of this stupid war.
