From Conan 1/17/12. That's Taylor Goldsmith from Dawes on the bass by the way. Figured I might as well put this down in case anyone else is looking for the info.
Every time I find out who originally wrote a kick ass tune it ends up being Dylan. I love it! Then wicked artists like Blake grab them as a foundation and create something just spectacular.
This is a Dylan song off his "Shot of Love" album and a very good song by him. But Mills takes the song and makes it his own here. Even somebody who has heard Dylan's version needs at least 30 seconds listening to it here to realize what they're listening to. To call this a cover is doing Mills a disservice here, like I said earlier, he owns this song! Great slide guitar!
What's interesting in Blake's slide playing is that unlike most, even great slide players, he can be quite different depending on the song and so. The sound, the phrasing, everything. Here you can hear a lot of "voices" from Ry Cooder to Derek Trucks and what's in between. Blake is a great musician, very inspiring. His solo and the whole guitar "canvas" in Strange Fruit by Katey Sagal is a masterpiece, period.
Ryan Morshead Danielle is definitely the best live performer and best singer. Blake is obviously the best guitarist. Idk dawes well enough, but he wasn't good enough for Blake haha. PS Simon Dawes isn't his name. Dawes is his middle name and Simon is Blake's middle name. Simon Dawes was the name of their old band.
I would never have found this if not for Chimes of Freedom Dylan-Amnesty International Benefit box set.Thank you for donating. So...Blake..contact me through The Institute of Musical Traditions Go East youngman..go East! I feel a live show coming on. (Washington, DC area) In Harmony, DEE
In these clips of Blake collaborating with Danielle, her voice takes me back to early Emmylou. And she is the perfect session drummer.
I am convinced that everything Danielle Haim does is perfect

Great slide guitar!
Funny how that works, innit? Check out Chimes of Freedom. 75 Dylan songs.
Shot Of Love is a classic record unfairly put down by the critics of that time
God just one of the coolest TV performances ive ever seen
Excellent. Great harmony with Danielle Haim on drums

Excellent!! Slide playing is very reminiscent of Ry Cooder.....absolutely brilliant cover of this song from Dylan's Shot of Love album
with a dash of trucks thrown in for good measure
Ageed. Cooder and don't forget David Lindley from Jackson Brown and El Rayo-X. Blake and Lindley are effortless players.
She's lovely.
Taylor Goldsmith on bass. He is the man.
came for Haim, stayed for Mills
and washed it all down with Goldsmith
i love Danielle! she is perfect!
I love Danielle so much
The guitar solo at the end is supernatural!!
I like how taylor is just chillin in obscurity, here.
Danielle is Super talented..
since hearing this a couple of months ago it has kept getting stuck in my head - love Blake's voice and their harmonies, and watching all 3 of them
The musicianship all round is so slick! Good to hear everyone involved is now rocking out on their own projects! ✌️
Brilliant rendition! Guitar virtuoso playing by Blake!
This works on every level and then some.
danielle you r amazing
Yes I do agree all three are very talented musicians!!!
Taylor on the big ol base. nice session

I remember seeing them both live the same week as this show with jon brian as his special guests
All 3 are super talented.
This has aged so well. I still wish I could play slide like that
All we can do is keep practicing 💪
@@ktown0173 I eventually learned the song, but this performance will always have a special place in my guitar playing motivation
A cover from one of Dylan's 79-82 phase ... derided by some and loved by others!
Wow this is stunning
I love Norah's version of this song but this one gave me chills, nothing like it.
Awesome. Thakx for posting this!
Blake is incredibly!
sounds like a young Randy Newman vocally. great guitarist
came here to see danielle, but this guy black mills can play
THIS GUYS ALRIGHT... CARLOS GUITARLOS
im here jus for Danielle
I think Blake Mills should be on your radar too... He's one of the greatest young guitarists and songwriters on the planet.
Wunderbar! Fantastic! Muy Bien!
I don't think I've ever heard an example of a song so suited to the cover voice.
Watching this just for Danielle Haim
Ingrid Pech She's great, but also the least talented person on that stage.
Yeah totally.
QuasiFandango *most talented
***** Blake Mills > Simon Dawes > Danielle Haim
Love and listen to all of them, but in terms of pure skill, that's just a fact.
Ryan Morshead Danielle is definitely the best live performer and best singer. Blake is obviously the best guitarist. Idk dawes well enough, but he wasn't good enough for Blake haha.
PS
Simon Dawes isn't his name. Dawes is his middle name and Simon is Blake's middle name. Simon Dawes was the name of their old band.
Superbe morceau
blake mills rules
Like this music nice on the ear
Watched too many Bang and Olufsen demos and got sent here lol
Blake must have went to the Keith Richard's school of rhythm. Yet he is way more skilled on lead. Unbelievable
Song is a Dylan cover. Just so happens: Ron Wood played guitar on the studio track
He went to the Ry Cooder school mate. Keith went there too.
Indeed. I was just about to say the same!

They were freaking dating 😂😂😂

This recording is from a Conan episode.
Not sure why someone decided to add their own label in the lower right corner.
Basic web theft.
+Randy Kintzley lol CTV is a Canadian national television network that simulcasts Conan in Canada. No theft here.
Were they ever dating?
blackmist411 yep they dated a few years
+blackmist411 Yes, they dated a while ago
Is there anything Danielle can't do ?!
Dat leg
we still have quite a few fabulous song writers and performers, just need to search better ;)
Bob Dylan wrote the song. Off of the Shot of Love album in the 1980's.
🤯 Me realizing this is the same guy from Rango II
listen to his record "heigh ho"
can someone tell if danielle is holding drumsticks with french or american grip
when's this from?
Whats in your ear, na what i mean
Does anyone know what blake's guitar is tuned to?
deep pocket
@ 1:20 my toes curl.
Killer... in a lively way...
Bob Dylan
tennis
why are Blake's jeans so dirty?
From all that filthy slide playing
He built himself a Coodercaster.
Wow. I had no idea a woman playing the drums could be so damn sexy!
Danielle is amazing!
His guitar is groovy af…😬
Da paura.
17 people did the crime but couldn't do the time.
highly overrated.
