Beautiful piece. I would suggest tin dust covers for the pulleys to keep the dust out.

Those chimes reminded me of my grandparents old stone house where they had grandfather clocks in every room and they would echo in that big old house. He had an antique shop. My uncle was a watch and clock repair man too ,on the Main line (Pa.).

I have a Riley Whiting tall case w/ wooden movement and narrowed it down to 1815/20? Your weights are much more refined than mine which are almost lumps and you have one of them new-fangled wind-ups. Looking at your glass, I see no impurities at all so I assume it's been replaced also. Beautiful clock all over!

I sold it to a close friend. I really love this clock, but I have too many clocks and not enough mantel space.

GORGEOUS CLOCK - love how ornate it is - do you repair just the mechanisms & clean the wood or do you do other repairs as well.

I will fix anything that needs repair. I also clean and oil every clock I sell. (and give it a good dose of Howard's Restor-A-Finish.

Date is difficult. Sources show 1810 until he retired in 1842. Based purely on the style and style I'd say roughly 1830 is about as close as you can guess unless there's a printer's address on the label (I didn't happen to notice one). I would call this a transitional style clock.
