I am having a hard time finding hardwood. My local sawmill just cuts coal mine timbers, railroad ties and pallet lumber. They use a lot of oak logs. They won't sell to an individual. But they will give you all the 4x4 and 6x6 cut offs for free. Or for $20 bucks they will bring you a pallet as high as they can stack of aged 4x4 cut offs for firewood with a loader in our small town. They are free of bark and already square buy only around two to three feet long. Maybe I should do this, they fit in my 12 inch planer but I would need a larger bandsaw
