    Hello, thanks for your insight. I would appreciate it if you had used some imagery on the screen when talking about some of these topics such as in the end you mentioned Verizon's rebrand. I personally don't follow stuff like this so seeing what is was vs. what it is now would be cool to see. Thanks

    Minor note. Keep the camera and your notes close to one another. Either right above or below. That way you won't have to turn away from the camera to check them.

    The yellow was a great way to highlight action buttons. It’s really weird that they’ve gone this direction.
    I’m all for rebrands. I think PayPal was due for one but this is not it. It looks so horribly generic 😫

    Rebrands like this devalue the work designers do by giving the impression to others that they "could've done that." Yeah, I don't see much of a difference or passion

      100% agree! It devalues the standard even more when it’s with a high-visibility project like this PayPal one.

      Its the work of designers to know and communicate efficiently the proper impression of their work. the complexity of a design solution is not a representation of how good it is, as a matter of fact , anybody can make things complex, it takes great and trained minds to make things simple while retaining the soul and essence of its existence. Thats what the creative's role is. its the ability to synthesise complex ideas and project a solution to communicate it simply.

      You make a great point! Simplicity does take a lot of thought and restrain. Those types of design decisions do require a lot of skill and experience, which Pentagram has no shortage of.

    I agree with you with everything but you take about yellow color. I believe the yellow was outdated, although I think the yellow should have been updated with a different hue.

      Great point! I didn’t even think about changing the hue of the yellow! That would work a lot better than keeping the same yellow from the previous brand. Thanks for watching!

    i love when rebrands are only choosing a typography and even use just a letter to a logo. Where is the artistic view? its all looking the same nowadays.

      You’re right! Many major rebrands have been relying heavily on typography and monograms over icons and illustration. I’m interested to see where design goes from here!

    That's what Pentagram does. Everyone in that agency is a senior citizen waiting for the time they expire.

      Don’t get me wrong. I still feel like there’s plenty of talent at Pentagram. At this point though, many of their partners seem set in their ways. They may have been able to pull this off a decade ago. Today, there are so many more talented studios and designers, it makes me question the value that Pentagram really brings.

    Its not the designer if the brand is treated like they are a start up to me. Input and push back should be part of the design process to me. If resistance never happens the rebrand is less accurate.

      This is a great question!
      Having worked on both agency and client side, I feel like it’s both. It’s the job of the agency to present the work. If the work doesn’t meet expectation, blame falls on them.
      On the other hand, it’s ultimately the client that moves the project forward. If they aren’t pushing the agency to provide different creative options, they’re to blame for lack of diligence.
      This is why relationship management is so important between agencies and clients. A great relationship allows both sides to work effectively and to share responsibility of the project.
