- If you have a waffle press in your kitchen, making homemade waffles is easy and fun. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside-no matter how you top it, nothing from your freezer aisle can compete with a warm, just made waffle.

Sarah Carey is the editor of Everyday Food magazine and her job is to come up with the best ways to make fast, delicious food at home. But she's also a mom to two hungry kids, so the question "What's for dinner?" is never far from her mind -- or theirs, it seems! Her days can get crazy busy (whose don't?), so these videos are all about her favorite fast, fresh meals -- and the tricks she uses to make it all SO much easier.

sarah makes it all more fun with all her chatting!
It's half a cup melted butter ! Just saying because Allison said it turned out less thick than it should be and if you look at her measuring cup there is just 1/2 cup :)
I saw that lol.
thank you for this amazing recipe!
2 cups a/p flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp coarse Salt
2 tbsp Sugar
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup butter
2 large eggs

When will the next Everyday Food magazine comes out? I'm looking forward to reading it on my ipad!
Sorry to say we are no longer making an Everyday Food magazine. :(
We are very sad, but it's no longer being printed.
Sarah Carey don't color your hair and wash it - that bozo the clown orange color and dreads look is not becoming
hey Sarah!! in the recipe they add 2 teaspoon of baking powder but on the video you don´t add baking powder, which one is the right one?
Hi Sarah! Love your work but want to point out that when you mention the butter in the video, you're saying "1 cup of melted butter", however, the recipe on the website calls for 1/2 cup of melted butter. Again, thanks for all you do!
Can I add vanilla extract? (: @sarah Carey
How do buttermilk waffles compare to the normal waffles in terms of the taste and texture? Sorry for the stupid question but I seriously am not sure if I've had them before. I'd like to know before I try making them. :D
Buttermilk has a little acidity so I'm guessing that makes the waffles a lot more softer and moist. That's probably why people add buttermilk to Red Velvet Cupcakes, to make it super soft and moist. Hope that answers your questions! ^_^
I made it
and?
can i use whole (regular) milk instead of buttermilk?
+Shaikha M. no... buttermilk is something special, it has acidity in it. however you can use milk and add a tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice per cup of milk
What's buttermilk? Do you mix butter and milk? If so, how much of each?
Izzie for buttermilk you add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup of milk it will curdle . That's the substitute for buttermilk
Aww thank you! I had no idea..
hey hey! Again, could you please make a gluten free bread recipe that feels and tastes like normal bread for my family???
do you want magic?
I have made a sandwich bread that you can find on our website at Marthastewart.com (not a video, just a recipe). It isn't that chewy rustic bread, but i was pretty happy with it.
Sarah Carey Thanks, but I'm trying to find a recipe that doesn't have a crazy amount of flours... Thank for the reply though. I'll try it out sometime! :)
Can i add baking powder?
Yes
Wish i could make waffles w/o
The iron
In the video she says 1 cup of butter, but the recipe on the website reads 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter =]
1 stick!!! not one cup. sorry.
no baking powder ??
She used baking soda instead
Can I just add a bit of unsweetened cocoa powder to make chocolate 🍫 waffles
Can I replace the buttermilk with regular milk?
Oh! You can make buttermilk with some vinegar or lemon juice, adding it to your milk and leaving it 10 to 15 minutes.
Oh nice =D, Thank You! I will be making these tomorrow morning then =)
+dav4o8 i no u wrote this a while ago but did the buttermilk substitution work
yea it did =D
dav4o8 Which did you use lemon or vinegar
I followed your recipe exactly, but it turns out less thick as yours. :(
What video did the rotten egg happen?
It didn't happen to me, it happened to a friend of mine when he was cooking at home! the yolk was black.
1 cup of butter? Looks like half.
YOU NEED TO EDIT YOUR VIDEO OR RESHOOT IT. I followed the recipe according to the video and it was a ruined batter. Way too much Butter. Not everyone reads the comments ahead of using your recipes.
If you look, she didn't use 1 cup of butter, it's 1/2 cup (125 ml) at 0:38
I see somebody has had a bad experience with finding a rotten egg lol
Would it be too much trouble to start adding calories to your recipes? I really enjoy the food you make but with the hassle of counting everything out for all the recipes it discourages me from trying to cook!
All empty calories unfortunately
Not true
That's the fanciest waffle iron I've ever seen. Can I get an autographed photo of you?
They should just have left those footage of her eating. That will be more interesting -__-
That´s a huuuge jar of flour Sarah!!! lol I guess u r a little afraid of running out of it...
These are absolutely Disgusting some of y'all may not believe me but I'm not lying I made these with the exact ingredients but the still tasted nasty
Khosh Cat no it was definitely the recipe, it was just simply disgusting
Qxeen Torrie did u use a stick of butter or a cup of butter?
True story: I've never bought frozen waffles. But then... I don't like waffles. Too much surface area or something.
