He got away with it because Alex didn't interpreted it as a number. It was a modifier like many and several. Wait! Nooooooo it's the last episode. Man hard to believe I started watching this show just a couple month ago because I was trying to find more Roisin material.
As an American. The "Spruce Goose" was a political slight during his Senate hearings. It was called The Hercules. It was named the Spruce goose because during the war metal was hard to find so it was made out of wood. Also why people thought it wouldn't fly.
very rare that this happens, but Andy screaming at imposter geese actually actually reduced-fat me to a cackling fit. my chest hurts from how hard i laughed at that.
Read the statement again and see if it's deliberate or not. Alex didn't count it as it was a modifier rather than an actual number. It's like several and many but with numbers. It's also like "That one" as a statement of location rather than a number. Unlike Jack who deliberately says three as a sentence without giving closure.

**** SPOILERS BELOW, including the biggest ONE, with analysis & math(s) **** * * * 13:08 Regarding Andy saying "one" in the cinema task, it was correctly not accepted as his answer. Even if it had, he would have still come in 3rd place in the task. He would have dropped one point, with Babá gaining one. Andy would still win the series by 2 points. Andy responded, "Couldn't eat a whole one," to Alex's question of "Do you like eagles?" "One" in Andy's sentence was a "quantifier pronoun" and it wasn't used as a number. A quantifier pronoun is a word like "some," "many," "several," and several other words. It is not a number. Therefore, it was correctly not interpreted as Andy's answer. One should agree with this. According to Jack Bernhardt last night talking to Alex at a TM book launch party: "Alex didn’t spot this (and no-one on the production team did either). His opinion (and [Jack is] inclined to agree) is that it would have been extremely harsh and ultimately wrong."
Even if Mr. Davies did not accept that logic, there is sufficient evidence using the items on the screen (14:14), to determine that Andy would have come in 3rd in the task. Andy's official time was 13 min, 19 sec (16:46). This included missing 5 tiny chairs and 4 items on the screen. That means he took 4m19s of clock time to do the task. As for the items, Andy gets at least to Emma's beloved robot. That was the 13th item. That means the interval between items was at most 20 seconds (4m19s / 13 items).
The eagle was the 9th screen item. Andy is shown saying 6 of the first 9 items on screen. That means he would have had at most 3 minutes of penalties for missed items. It also means that his clock time would have been at most 3 minutes (9 * 20 seconds) at the time he said "one."
Andy's maximum time was 338 minutes, 0 seconds. That's 332 minutes for chairs, 3 minutes for missed items, plus 3 minutes on the clock. That worst case would have been good enough for Andy to still beat Rosie by 39 seconds and earn 3rd place. Andy Zaltzman is the rightful champion. p.p.s. While Jack also used "one" as a pronoun in the cinema task, he appears to have said it after the "three." He said "three" with the 8th item on the screen (robin). Jack said, "one of those exercise balls." The exercise ball was not among the first 15 items, so it was the "three" that counted...unless it was a second showing of the robin, in which case he was last, anyway.
Andy Zaltzman goes from looking like Wily Wonka to looking like he just got back from Larping and I still find it hilarious. I can count to 1023 in binary on my fingers without saying the numbers in my head, so that'd be interesting to try.
@@thatcrazyhindu I liked Emma's and his equally. I think nature documentaries make for wonderful parodic material and I enjoyed the silly intricate details. Rosie's however was a masterpiece
I can’t believe we’ve already reached the worst part of every series: having to say goodbye to these wonderful people. But now that we’re here, I want to take this time to commend all of my fellow commenters. 13:12 Andy clearly says "Couldn't eat a whole ONE." That was the first number he said in the task.
I’ve loved every series but this cast was probably the most lovable. Loved it. Bring on the next one! (I do watch other countries doing their version of this but nothing comes close tot he original.) Thought I knew a lot of the UK comedians but clearly there are way more which this show really helps highlight. The depth in the UK is amazing.
rosie saying "captain jackie and the hotdog" is still my season highlight
The cow eyes closing. 😂👌
Wasn't a fan of this group at first but they quickly grew on me. Will miss them.
Thank you, Taskmaster for another amazing series! I will look forward to 19 while I rewatch all of the rest!
This has got to be the greatest prize task ever. Every time you thought a prize couldn't be outdone...
It'd be interesting if Rosie said three, suddenly, because the first letters subliminally did get into her head.
This show makes me so happy.
30:55 What's good for the gooch is good for the google
Oh yeah, I'm feelin' lucky
I was actually waiting for Alex to show a small clip of Andy saying "Whole One" to crush spirits 0v0 i was surprised when it didn't happen @13:12
Nobody's a stronger runner than the Boss. I mean this guy was born to run!
Wait! Nooooooo it's the last episode.
Man hard to believe I started watching this show just a couple month ago because I was trying to find more Roisin material.
Thanks guys for the show.
We all appreciate it. It is a little light in the dark.
Reduced fat
In terms of the final prize and points for the competitors, this episode was about trying to close the gap
Another truly great series. I love this show so much.
13:13 soooo Andy says “couldn’t eat a whole ONE” pretty sure that’s a number
Read the statement again and see if it's deliberate or not. Alex didn't count it as it was a modifier rather than an actual number. It's like several and many but with numbers. It's also like "That one" as a statement of location rather than a number. Unlike Jack who deliberately says three as a sentence without giving closure.
@@janmarcocervantes1601 the task didn't say that they could use numbers casually in conversation. ONE is a number.
@ but are you Alex to not interpret it as a modifier than a number. A number being used as a number is different from a modifier.
@@janmarcocervantes1601 they literally disqualified Joe Wilkinson over a barely visible tip of his shoe touching the red green, Alex likes to catch contestants with the tiniest slip ups. I didn’t point the thing Andy said to be salty (I’m happy he won, I’d be if any of the contestants had cause they’re all great), I am JUST pointing it out, no need to dissect it
@ everyone argues that Andy should be disqualified because of that mistake. If he would, Alex will probably show that footage.
The goose by Andy is the best, I would watch such TV show about other birds as well😂😂😂
Rosie’s presentation of The Goose is the first time I’ve genuinely laughed in weeks

13:08 Regarding Andy saying "one" in the cinema task, it was correctly not accepted as his answer. Even if it had, he would have still come in 3rd place in the task. He would have dropped one point, with Babá gaining one. Andy would still win the series by 2 points.
Andy responded, "Couldn't eat a whole one," to Alex's question of "Do you like eagles?"
"One" in Andy's sentence was a "quantifier pronoun" and it wasn't used as a number.
Rosie's 4th place time was 338:39.
Oh thank you for doing the math! This comment deserves more attention.
Thank you for doing the math!!
It's a British show, so they did the maths 😉
I'm surprised no one tried to argue that those were not chairs.
Genuinely teared up when Alex said "my hero Jack dee" 🥹
Andy Zaltzman goes from looking like Wily Wonka to looking like he just got back from Larping and I still find it hilarious.
I can count to 1023 in binary on my fingers without saying the numbers in my head, so that'd be interesting to try.
Andy and Sam are going to be chaos incarnate and I’m here for it
Rosie is certifiably diabolical.
Andy should’ve gotten five points for the goose task 100%
Don’t get me wrong it was weird but the dedication!
At least 4 imo!
No, that was stupid.
I think it made sense because Emma’s and Rosie’s were significantly better than his
@@thatcrazyhindu I liked Emma's and his equally. I think nature documentaries make for wonderful parodic material and I enjoyed the silly intricate details. Rosie's however was a masterpiece
Jack Dee's gloves, lubes and drills are hilarious! 😂
Omg. I can’t. Josie’s prize task
I can’t breathe 😂😂😂😂😂
Le Goose is absolutely art
13:13 That's Numberwang!
Yeah, how did they miss that?
Yes!!!!!
What??? How is it ep 10 already?! Can’t wait to watch this series 10 more times, 2 times focusing on each contestant 😂😂😂
What an innings by Andy. The century style celebration at the end was a perfect touch
I can’t believe we’ve already reached the worst part of every series: having to say goodbye to these wonderful people.
But now that we’re here, I want to take this time to commend all of my fellow commenters. When this cast was first announced I saw a lot of - unfortunately all too common - cruel and hideous opinions about Rosie’s participation. I opened the comments on the first episode of this series with great trepidation but I came away pleasantly surprised with how many people were willing to give Rosie a genuine chance. And I’m happy to say that the positive comments never stopped. Week after week, I have seen nothing but people enjoying and praising the brilliant, twisted mind that is Rosie Jones. So thank you, guys, for proving that everyone is welcome in this light-hearted, ridiculous little show we call "Taskmaster". I look forward to seeing you all again next series ☺️.
They aren't executed following Taskmaster, you know. They existed before and continue their careers afterwards. Unless you're really just too lazy to type a name into You Tube search.
I knew all these people for years before this series.
I've loved this whole cast! And I think the decent people have been good about downvoting the nasty comments about Rosie. I've seen quite a few, but they are always at the bottom of the comments section.
They will live on in TH-cam re-runs.
I totally love Emma now!
Love the callback with the copy alex music
Ok. I admit, I was doubtful at first, but, that was a great season!
Thank you, Taskmaster for allowing this on yt!
That was another GREAT series. Imagine being on your 18th (!) season and still delivering this quality! 💕
In every single other season I could've predicted who's gonna win towards the end, but here it was just so out of nowhere.
One of my favorite series so far!!
Besides series 5 my favorite team of contestants! They are all so weird, but in their very own and special way. Also, best price task so far in this finale.
