  • In response to community feedback, the Fresno County Youth Health Ambassadors Challenge Team built infrastructure for peer support in under-resourced schools. They took an evidence-based, longitudinal approach to building resilience and employ a train-the-trainer methodology. Their pilot is rooted in volunteerism and meaningful work as both have been shown to improve emotional well-being of youth, teens, and young adults.
    Youth Health Ambassadors was a finalist in the national Children and Youth Resilience Challenge. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched the Resilience Challenge as part of President Biden’s Unity Agenda and Mental Health Strategy and an initiative of the HHS Behavioral Health Coordinating Council Subcommittee on Children and Youth.
