  • Students Run Philly Style (SRPS) transforms students’ lives through mentorship over miles of long-distance running and achievement. SRPS pairs Philadelphia students in grades 6-12 with adult volunteer Mentors to train for a physical and mental challenge: completing a long-distance race (10-26.2 miles). In a unique partnership with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, SRPS adapted its model into the MileUp program, an innovative juvenile justice diversion opportunity for youth ages 11-17 facing misdemeanor or felony charges. As youth participate, they build a path out and away from system involvement. MileUp youth who meet program milestones can earn paid restitution, dropped charges, and record expungement.
SRPS is the grand prize winner in the national Children and Youth Resilience Challenge. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched the Resilience Challenge as part of President Biden’s Unity Agenda and Mental Health Strategy and an initiative of the HHS Behavioral Health Coordinating Council Subcommittee on Children and Youth. All Resilience Challenge finalists participated in an Innovation Showcase on May 2, 2024. Watch the event recording: • Children and Youth Res... . Learn more: www.challenge.gov/?challenge=....
