I love everything you said about the starless sea. I have so much trouble explaining why people should read it, but I just keep saying it is so good. Honestly, your recommendation is the only one I've heard that makes me want to read The Ninth House, and now I REALLY want to read it. Loved this video!

I don’t watch a TON of book tube channels but I just wanna say I love how you recap stories- I always leave with a book or two that sound really really interesting!!! 💖

Random YA thriller i HIGHLY recommend: Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas. It was written a while back but it has an unreliable narrator, a courtroom drama, and a murder mystery set during spring break in Aruba.
    Tis very, very good

i felt the same about RWRB - really enjoyed it but it wasn't my favourite thing ever either!! YES to all you said about Ninth House. I have The Starless Sea on my TBR and i'm very intrigued - The Night Circus wasn't my favourite but i did love the writing and the atmosphere and some of the characters and TSS sounds more like my thing.

I'm interested in The Starless Sea. I've read Night Circus and thought her writing was absolutely beautiful, but was a little underwhelmed by the plot of the magician vs magician, but enjoyed everything else in jt. I've hoped she would publish again, and lost track of the fact that TSS came out! Will definitely pick it up.

I am SO excited to read The Starless Sea and Muse of Nightmares this year! Probably my favorite book from last year was To The Bright Edge Of The World by Eowyn Ivey, I scream about it any time anyone asks for recs. Historical fiction with wild magical realism thrown in and AH it's so good. Also anxiously awaiting the 4th book in Libba Bray's Diviners series next month.

I am so here with you on RWRB. I really thought plot wise it was just OK. SUPER fun to read but also pretty basic. Overall though I don't think there is a 2019 book list that I am as excited about. all of these look so good.

Because so many people whose book opinions I trust and respect loved it, I tried starting The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo last month and I couldn't really get into, primarily because it felt like there was a lot of fatphobia. Almost every description seemed to specify how thin the character was. Is it worth going back to this book if that's an issue for me? I wondered if it might have been intentional and maybe addressed later, since body image can be a big part of the life of a woman in entertainment, but it didn't feel intentional, at least in the first 15% or so of the book. I definitely want to try reading Daisy Jones and the Six, but I do feel a little trepidation because of this issue.
