Yes, generally women are secondary, especially in smaller towns and villages. But Modern India is changing and a lot of women in cities are working and sometimes earning more than the husband and heading large corporations. That cannot be called 'secondary'. My personal take has always been two: First take, "I am the boss of the house, and I have my wife's PERMISSION to say so!". Second mantra is as my wife puts it: "Your money is our money, and my money is my money!" I have followed these mantras all my 29 years of married life, and all is well!😁😁😁😁😁

It's harder to appreciate the Indian mob than the country itself. Apparently she also expressed that same view. Indian culture and society are fascinating to observe from a distance but never so when one becomes a part of them. But then developing a sense of detachment from our surroundings makes it easier to find peace and purpose while living in a country with over a billion souls. Nevertheless I doubt if any other society can handle multiculturalism better than the Indian society while existing by and large in peace and harmony. 🥂

Each have different experience...maybe she see women as secondary because of her experience here but that don't define our society. I can tell that having lived in rural India where basically women in the house manages everything and is most respected by their sons/daughter. And i lived in UP, then Chandigarh, then Delhi and then Bangalore...and everywhere within my friend circle, this is same...more so in Bangalore. But a lot of peaceful community has infiltrated or live in our society where they r taught what not in Mosque through cleric....therefore women has to be consious as all kind of people exsist with different ideology though its number is less but has to be minded of such people.

It is very foolish to generalize Bharat and its highly heterogeneous social levels... Every level of luxury is available in India.... So it boils down to what is your profession and education and level in society... While it is very difficult as a foreigner to live in crowded lanes and bylanes in old parts of cities... It is extremely comfortable to live in gated communities or premier institutions like IITs IIMs etc.. you can easily hire drivers and services and move very comfortably in highly educated society without rubbing shoulders with crowded places... You can go to super malls ... Gardens... Museums.. science cities... Cultural centres... Clubs... Huge restaurant.. fine dining.. water parks... Planetarium etc etc... why in the world you need to rub shoulders in crowded buses in crowded markets?? I personally know hundreds of highly educated foreign professionals working in India and living comfortably.... So it is foolish to compare common people life style as a foreigner in a crowded country and real intententions will be questioned.... Best wishes...

Everything is a cycle & in India women are considered secondary because of that cycle, one day it will change for sure. Many reasons contribute to a society to behave in a particular pattern that too only for a certain period of time. And it can't change overnight. Younger generations of India are totally different

@@zuzanareacts ryt now in India respecting women, non judgemental towards women, seeing as equals is the trend. Shaped by the current parent generation, government, law, entertainment industry, internet, external influences and basic commonsense. So the younger generations are observing absorbing & adapting. And it's happening faster. So they are learning what's acceptable & what's not, what's good & what's bad for their kids & families future. But there's a % of the population in any country who goes against all rules, principles and values. No one can change them. They do what they want to & feel like doing. They can only be punished.
It's a cycle, we r living in a different world which values currency than people. So it revolves around the economy of a country, society, community & family.

When it comes to considering women as second, people might think this but if we talk about culture, then women were never considered second and we can understand this very well from history. By the way, I also did not like Delhi, although I have never been to Delhi, but I have heard that people from all over the country come there, people of all kinds live there. And I believe that the parents of children born after 2000 have taught them everything except manners. Look dear💕 zuzana, she is a talking about her 2008 Indian🇮🇳 visit, it is about a 16 years back. Maybe at that time, infrastructure development and other developments in India🇮🇳are, not much at higher speed. Because at that time in India🇮🇳, and, most of the times in India🇮🇳, after the independence of India🇮🇳, at 1947, it is mostly ruled by the Congress and their friendly parties government. And they are mostly did a minority people's appeasement politics and corruption, rather than a development works in India🇮🇳, in a speeder ways. Whenever Hindu🕉️ right wing party and their friendly political parties, comes to power💪 in India🇮🇳, the development works in India🇮🇳, goes faster. Like a pracent Narendra Modi government did in a last 10 years. Because mostly they are a nationalist party and people. But sadly, after the independence of a India🇮🇳, this nationalist right wing political parties, very less time ruled India🇮🇳, compared to leftist ideology political parties, like a Congress and their friendly political parties. Other wise, if most of the times, nationalist Hindu🕉️ right wing political parties ruled India🇮🇳, after the independence, I surely say you that, India🇮🇳 will now become a developed country, rather than a developing country. But today's Narendra Modi government plan is, at a 2047, that is, after the 100 years of a independent of India🇮🇳, to make a India🇮🇳, a developed country. And, she is also talking about a secondary attitudes and little bit bad👎 attitudes towards women's in India🇮🇳. But this type of a mindset of men's, found in a all the countries around the world🌎. But this type of a negative❎ attitudes towards a woman's, in India🇮🇳, mostly you find in a Delhi, and maybe, few other places in India🇮🇳, but not all over the India🇮🇳. India🇮🇳 is a big country, and, mostly big cities are over populated, and, some places are not much clean. And in India🇮🇳, sexual harrasment of a woman's, and, bad👎 attitudes towards women's, you mostly found in a, particular religion and communities youth in India🇮🇳, they are mostly involved in a crime and terrorism in India🇮🇳, and indirectly support💪 the terrorism, around the world🌎, in the name of a religion. I not directly tell that relegion and communities name here. But it is the real fact. Mostly Hindu🕉️ communities people, not much involved in a, such a criminal activities and antti social activities, in India🇮🇳 and around the world, i think.

I had to restrict myself to highly educated or skilled circles only... Hence it is utterly careless and lack of senses to rub shoulders in crowded places in India for foreigners expats... @zuzannareacts she is not wrong and neither where the guys who told you the exact opposite.
I don't know how that is supposed to make sense
Indian society is not the modern.thing that Europeans automatically assume.
There are strict roles for men and women.
I am 59 yrs and am still not allowed to sweep the driveway My wife says - "It is not your job"
There are places where women are worshipped
I live in Kerala. As a rule we do not like to eat out. This automatically puts a greater pressure on the women folk but then the males step up to help too.
In short, India is a land of contrasts.

Women are not secondary, but it's our cultural understanding to not respect working women. If women do business only then she is respected not jobs. Why? because it destroys society which is happening with Europe currently. Before invasion Indian women were the richest tycoons in the world. Yes we respect diversity but in the framework of our sanatana ecosystem. If a man does household work he too is not respected because it's not his job to do. If men do household works and women do office work then entire society will collapse and crime activities will see extreme uprise and we surely do not want that. Now common people do not know this sociology but they're following the patterns which our forefathers set long before.
So yeah we do respect men and women both but in their zones.

Interesting insight. I though believe it’s all about balance - it’s easy to make excuses but for people to put in an effort - I’m not criticising you or anything like that but to me I don’t respect a woman that has a job or guy that does chores is just strange. It’s all about balance but if a strict rules are given in a society and people not respected for all they do not just what’s expected it’s a different story

@@zuzanareacts yes, I agree with you that everyone should be respected regardless of their work. But unfortunately nature has created some hard rules for humans. If women do jobs and if it becomes the way then birthrates will drop to such a level where human society will be full of chaos and jungle rule will be the only law. Again I am saying each and everyone should be respected no matter what they do until they break the law. But unfortunately mother nature is very cruel to us. She demands sacrifice from time to time.

@@zuzanareacts Woman doing job can get a good husband, but man doing chores can’t. Its even true in Europe. On the women protection in public spaces is a concern, thanks for raising these issues.
Are we all unemployed ? and have nothing to do ? Yeah those who are on streets and harassing women . Not in this comment section, except who defends this by making nonsense statements.

Every country has its own good and bad sides. India has a lot of problems for sure and with 1.4 billion people running or walking on streets it's truly chaotic for western people. In india the people or the vehicles don't move in straight lines or don't follow traffic rules. Now it's not only in India but it's a problem in all of South Asia. Yes Delhi is not a safe city compare to other mega cities. Tourist places in Rajasthan, UP, Delhi there are young boys who always force foreigners for selfies. They are mainly from slums. Indian Govt. should make a rule that taking selfies without permission is a punishable act. In Rajasthan I saw little kids from local slums harassing foreigners a lot. Avoid the golden triangle if you are alone or with a little group. Visit North East, South India, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and union territories. The government needs to solve the problems that tourists face while traveling.
