    Great video Gregor. Thank you so much for this review. I'm a bit disappointed that Huben's vision changed from long distance/slug shooting to pellets. They were the leader with this new technology, and many air gunners are now looking for the slug shooting options available. FX is catching up, with a new slug barrel. I think the market is saturated with plenty of great pellet shooters within Huben's price point, and their best strategy would have been to improve the range and accuracy of slug shooting.

    Very interesting. It’s going to take another 4 or 5 months to save up for whichever one (.22 or .25) I get, so by the time I have to decide I hope to see more of your testing. I’m planning to use heavy slugs at high power settings so I’d prefer .25, so I found this report disappointing. If you do put that 600mm barrel on yours, and it works, I hope it can be obtained in the USA. Even better would be a .25 factory slug barrel. Better yet would be changeable barrels like Fx, but that would no doubt bump the price.

    Seems to me that they have regressed in their design of the.25 cal. What is the point of having all of that power if you can't use it with the bc limitations of pellets? The rest of the air gun industry is starting to progress toward bullets in order to maximize power and accuracy. This is disappointing.

    • @gregorkamensek3923

      Well, as I commented to AboLailaAlmohalhil, I agree with the power but I think it is a good business choice by Huben as the biggest problem with the .22 was that there were not pellets / slugs available when the gun was released.

      @@gregorkamensek3923 There are plenty of slug makers on the market, but I see your point. Pellets rule the industry for now. Maybe Huben should move in the direction that FX has gone and create a platform where you can switch back and forth between bullets and pellets. It just seems a shame that Huben came out with such a powerful rifle just to waste that power on pellets in the .25 model.

    Got a Huben K1 .25 today, never shot one till now.
    Two things i'm noticing. First, the spring clip near the magazine, which should help you inserting the pellet or slug, maybe this could damage the slug a little? It's pushing the slug against the edge of the hole while inserting the slug.
    Second, you definately need an earplug in the ear which is near the action, because the action itself is LOUD. Wasn't expecting that!
    You could also make a leather cap or something to put over the action. I'm wearing an earplug untill then.

  • @trinitymaker5833
    @trinitymaker5833 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok Gregor.... Lets talk about the last 30 seconds of video where you're shooting the JSB King Heavy at 102M. You can actually see vapor trails behind the pellets. This seems strange to me as I though a vapor tail was a product of supersonic flight. But you just proved my understanding wrong.
    Also, looks like the Huben is more accurate with pellets than the slugs. This actually surprises me given the .25 are much more stable with the LW twist rate. Is the barrel you're shooting out of choked or un-choked? I'm assuming it's choked because of your extreme accuracy with pellets. If it is, I'm thinking you could get better results shooting your slugs if the barrel was un-choked.
    I also read in another video that you took a LW .22LR barrel with a 1:16 twist and had it machined to fit your Huben. How were your results with that? I've though about purchasing the LW .22 Hornet barrel with a twist of 15.4:1 and having it machined to fit my rifle so I can ensure the .22 slugs from MP-Molds are achieving max stability. Thoughts?
    Thanks for the great videos.
    I like the new haircut.

    • @gregorkamensek3923
      @gregorkamensek3923  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. You can find the answers to first two questions / comments in the video: All K1 stock barrels are choked including this one; I intend to replace it with un-choked for slugs.
      Yes, I machined a .22LR barrel for K1 version 1 and it works great (I actually still use that barrel). I also tested Hornet .22 barrel. It performs reasonable well but it needs slightly bigger slugs as it is also lightly bigger than the .22LR. Both of these barrel only work well in version 1 as only version 1 (in .22) has a magazine without grooves that get in the way and also don't fit the rifling of this barrels. The .25 is without grooves and this leads me to believe that maybe the latest version of the .22 might also be without grooves. But also if it is without, the diameter of the holes is most likely too small to use those barrels if they followed in the steps of the .25 version.
      The twist of 1:16" is enough to stabilize the MP mold (or any other) slugs as they are all limited in length be K1's magazine. No benefits comes from the Hornet's slightly faster twist according to my tests.
      Thanks for the hair comment :)

      @@gregorkamensek3923 Do you know if Huben plans on manufacturing an after market un-choked barrel for the .25? What good is it to have a 100 FPE air rifle and not shoot slugs with it? I'm not opposed to shooting pellets. Their accuracy within 75 yards in a good air rifle utilizing a choked barrel is hard to beat. And I LOVE the concept of the hammerless firing system used by Huben. It seems like it would eliminate 60-65% of the harmonics experienced in an air rifle where the hammer slaps the valve to release air. Just curious if you know if they plan on making an un-choked version.
      Also, I still love to shoot my MP-Mold slugs in .25. If you can tame the harmonics of whatever rifle you're shooting them out of, and your air rifle has a good regulator set at a high pressure, you can achieve hole in hole shots within 50 yards. I know they're designed for choked or un-choked barrels, but I've found the groups to be tighter with un-choked. They shoot laser straight out to 200 yards. Thanks for all your hard work on the design and production of those. They took my gun to a new level of power, retained energy, and long range accuracy.

      @@trinitymaker5833 Hi. I doubt that they will offer an aftermarket barrel for slugs. It is quite complicated for a user to replace the barrel (including the concentric calibration). Also, I would say that Huben's week spot is that they have limited capability for accuracy testing begin form China. Also, they want to satisfy all customers with a single "configuration" and that is why the barrel is choked... I am working on putting in an un-choked poly barrel that will be thicker and longer. We will see what that does for accuracy. I can try to convince Huben to offer this as an option but I am not sure if they will be interested.

    Gregor, i have a question for you. I disassembled/reassembled my K1 maybe a dozen times, and it always went well.
    But this time it won't shoot anymore after reassembling. Regulated part and breech have air, and the magazine turns freely, powerwheel around 50%. Tried high and low regulator pressure, but nothing.

    • @gregorkamensek3923

      So if I understand correct, the gun does not fire at all (nothing happens when you pull the trigger)? If so, I assume you have something blocking the sear in the rear that releases the valve... I had this situation in the past and in the end it was the spring for setting 2nd stage of trigger pull that way between the sear and the housing blocking it.

    • @Harolddespui
      @Harolddespui 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gregorkamensek3923 The two little springs behind the sear seem in place. I adjusted them both with allen key and the trigger responses, but still not shooting.

      @@Harolddespui Then it is possible that there is not enough force to open the valve. This could be if the oring in the body is damaged (the oring is in the body accessible from the back side, it seals to the firing valve). If this oring is jammed in between the valve and the body, it can cause a lot of friction... But we VERY CAREFUL when you check / remove this oring, you will need to make some tool to check / remove it. DON'T DAMAGE THE ORING GROOVE as if you do, you will need to replace the whole breach...
      Also possible but not very likely is that something is blocking the first sear that holds the valve closed...

      Depends on the version and what you shoot (pellets or slugs). For pellets, the .25 2020 + version is excellent (I do not have the .22 2020+ version yet to compare). Older versions, I would go for .22 cal, they are very good with slugs but you have to have dedicated slugs for it. I don't yet know how will the new version of the .22 perform.
