I went to a biblical counseling class and the teacher shared a story about a person who came for help but was rejected because he smelled like weed, maybe that was what he needed counseling for. I quit going to class after the next story of how wonderful it was to welcome a pedophile into the church because he was biblically counseled said the right words and went about his way as a member of that church. I guess smelling like weed is worse than molesting children? I also found it very unprofessional to use former counselees and their problems as amusing anecdotes to elevate the teachers ego. In my humble opinion if we are going to pick who is and who isn't worthy of what Jesus did for us on the cross there are going to be a lot of sheep left in ditches and the body of Christ will continue to shrink. I have always thought that secular counseling in all it's forms was a hypocritical blame game with prescription drugs to keep you coming back but the human condition in it's fallen state is not just limited to them.
