    Think I've found a great new channel I really enjoy. I'm an old long term (around fifth generation) Queenslander. You guys are awesome and have inspired me to get off my bum and start enjoying our amazing countryside and community a lot more. Thanks guys. I think we need a reminder of how very privileged we are lo live in this beautiful place 😃

    I've lived in Australia for years although I was born in Yorkshire; I moved to Sunshine Coast nine years ago and prefer it to Brisbane; it's quieter and more laid back. I love the hinterland the most and like going to Montville and Maleny where the views are spectacular. Coolum has the best beaches.

    Great to see you back. I left Mooloolaba 35 years ago when my little coastal town started losing all the natural beauty to bulldozers. When I returned 4 years ago I immediately felt genuine sorrow and grief when I saw housing estates where once was untouched bush. I can't go back because I have too many memories of paradise lost. I guess I'm just old fashioned.

      Things have changed so much even in the 5 years that we've been here. We're assuming the only way to steer clear of development is to head north? Or inland, but then you lose the beaches.

    We’ve been away from the Sunshine Coast for 3 years - funnily enough living in Kent - and due to head back within the next year. As a Sunny Coaster, I think this has been spot on about life on the coast - I do certainly miss the healthy food and lifestyle.

    The real reason people get up early on the Sunshine Coast is the amount of bird song ( & kookaburra laughs ) at sunrise. In my experience Queensland is an amazing place to bring up kids but it’s not for everyone. I’ve known people who have left the UK in the depths of winter and arrived 30 hours later in the middle of summer then spent the next few months moaning about the heat. I think the information you guys are providing is great for people looking to come down under. I just hope that we all don’t get trampled to death in the rush to come here

    • @TheBAMFamalam
      @TheBAMFamalam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yes, the birds are certainly loud around here! We have family members that certainly wouldn't enjoy living here because of the heat, however, we're sure they will enjoy their holidays with us (if they come in winter 😂) 🇦🇺

    I'm 45. I grew up on the sunshine coast . The sunshine coast used to be amazing . Coolum was a hippie commune there was only 2 highrise apartments in Mooloolaba and there was a single lane highway to Brisbane . Every guy had long hair no shoes and a surfboard under their arm . No-one chased a dollar everyone just cared about what the waves were doing that day . There was no crime and you could just have a chat with everyone and I mean everyone. It was such a great place that when people from cities on holidays they loved it so much they started moving there . Problem is they brought their fast paced money hungry life style with them and over the years it changed from what attracted them to the sunny coast in the first place . Now it's traffic everywhere people everywhere . Everyone's trying to look wealthy etc . Everyone's been priced out of the market . If your renting your working your ass off just to cover rent because it's stupidly expensive. Good luck affording to buy a house and if you do it'll be so small unless your budget is in the millions . There's no life work Ballance because you have no money after your exorbitant cost of living . We left the sunshine coast 7 years ago and it's the best thing we ever did we now own 45acres of beach front property in a different state and we own it with no mortgage now that's work life Ballance . You ask anyone that grew up on the sunshine coast in the 90s and they will all tell you it's crap now and it's been destroyed.

      @farriers687 we are now in western australia . Low cost of living . Very high wages, very cheap land . The south west of WA is beautiful have a look at esperance in wa or around Albany.
      The other state I'd highly recommend is Tasmania. It's comparable to south island nz. With extremely low property prices . But that's cold 9 months of the year . Wa is really where it's at . Very low population and the money you can make over here will make your head spin . Unskilled labour on a mine are paying $160k a year and if you have a trade your up over 200kpa . And there are always jobs .

I was brought here when I was 6 , 70 yrs ago and I have loved every minute of it . I remember the first Australian we met as we came down the gangplank off the ship .it was pissing down raining and my mum said to this bloke , I thought it never rained in Australia , to which he replied , that ain't rain luv that's liquid sunshine kinda sums it all up really . Cockatoos you'll find everywhere as well as kookaburras and Rosella's. Minor birds too but they are pests and introduced from India. Bastard things they are as they attack other birds and chip constantly when they know there's danger around. If you go out and try and chase them away they just fly out of your reach and antagonize you.

      We love the bird sounds every morning, we haven't seen any minor birds yet, we don't think they visit our garden 😊

      @@TheBAMFamalam lucky you. Those are the most annoying damn birds. I once was told my an UK guy when he 1st woke in the morning just up in the Blue Mountains here that he herd this screaming noise that sounded like a pterodactyls or something prehistoric animals. Turns out it was the cockatoos 😂

    Please don't tell people. In the last 10 years it's got way too busy. It was fine before - we knew holiday makers would go home at the end of the school holidays - but too many new people and the useless council have ruined it.
