In this video, I do some more test rides, showcase the torsion suspension, paint on the side stripes and apply the vinyl logo, almost crash my drone again, visit with a couple engineers, and talk over the project with them.
I bought a used Prusa MK3S+ 3D printer, and I've been having a ton of fun learning how to use it and printing out custom parts for the Cyberdrop.
In the next video, I'm hoping to cover the custom solar installation. We've finalized the plans for the cell layout, and next the panels are going to be manufactured. I will have more to say about the company I'm working with in the next video, too.
To do list:
Overrun brake fabrication (welding, and testing the spring tension, etc.), solar installation, security system, fabricating a more robust ball hitch, Garmin Varia radar hardwire installation, interior electrical panel completion, interior fabric installation, storage compartments, transport Cyberdrop back to my house (65 km ride) for ongoing testing and final touches.

You have the best trailer design I feel like I need to start all over with mine now
Lots of great designs out there - I'm sure yours will be great!
Good choice on the Schwalbe tyres too 👍 those reflective sidewall stripes really do a great job of reflecting car headlights at night. Loving this build journey.
Thanks, yeah those schwalbe marathon tires have been bulletproof for me over the years.
I love your trailer and especially the suspension. I need to have the same for my t. Well done. Top. It cruises like a cadillac....🥰🤪🥰
Thanks! 🙌
Very nice shots! What a nice looking neighborhood you live in!
Thanks - it's my parents neck of the woods. Northumberland, Ontario is a nice county if you ever get a chance to visit.
@@Jerbrown I moved from Germany to British Columbia about 10 years ago and haven't managed to to see anything in the middle and east of Canada yet, but from what I see online it is definitely worth to explore! I am working on a Tiny Houseboat and hope to travel for a while with my wife in a couple of years. And now after seeing your videos I feel inspired to build a bicycle camper to fill the gap until the boat is done😆 ahh, never enough time but too many ideas...
@@danielwurmer2266 Wilkommen Daniel - ich bin halb Deutsch :) My mom is from Krefeld. Never enough time indeed! Focus is key.
@@Jerbrown Haha, thank you! Germans really seem to like this wondeful country, I keep meeting people with german roots almost every week!
This is my youtube channel which shows the Houseboat build if you are curious: youtube.com/@adrianwoodworm
You should get a slow moving vehicle sign for it it will for sure make you noticed as a slow moving vehicle as long as you don't go over 25 MPH
Good idea 👍
Good day to you!
I am a grandpa rider on HONDA motorcycle from Japan.
Enjoying camping ,touring and upload video.
Your bike camper video is so nice!
Awesome!
Full supported !!
Have a nice day my friend!
Good day to you grandpa!
Best video so far I think, the aerial footage is beautiful interspersed with your technical specs and also good fun to see your guests from India and the low view of the turning wheel over the small bumps… Amazing job! 😊
Thanks mom :)
your editing is SO good.. overheads, music, blending.
Wow thanks! Editing causes me mental pain, so I’m glad you’ve noticed these things :)
Totally making me and the wife a trike rig. I love the design and simplicity of this. What is the reason you went with an additional front wheel drive as opposed to two rear drive motors supplementing a mid drive, and front hub motor. I plan on having a charging unit set up for; if not continuous, at least long range.
I wanted to go with the minimal motors necessary and figured I don’t need additional redundancy beyond two motors.
Wow the drone footage is epic
Got some even better shots with a friend flying it - much easier!
Looking good sir. can not wait to the next video
Hey Lloyd. Good to hear from ya. Next one should be great!!
What Security system are you using to keep someone from taking you trailer (Camper) while you're asleep inside?
That would be interesting!
I am looking at various security options, including motion activated alarms. But this part may need to remain top secret 🤐 😅
Very cool build.
Thanks
Do you have a link for the transportation ministry's guidelines? I only looked at the Ontario HTA and couldn't find anything specific to trailers.

@@Jerbrown Thank you so much!

A simple way to exceed the guidelines, is a wireless back light + turn signal + alarm combo that are quite affordable.
@@pascalj4331 That's the simple solution. I decided I didn't want to have to recharge the lights, so I'm hardwiring them in.
I have paraparesis, I can walk with a cane, but cannot make any significant physical effort, so I also have to use a manual wheelchair.
I'm planning to buy a sports wheelchair, an All Terrain Wheelchair (ATW: in French it's called an FTT for Fauteuil Tout Terrain). This ATW is intended for downhill sports (ski slopes, lacrosse slopes) and for hiking trails.
When I had my ATW, I would build myself a small folding fiberglass caravan, and with my dogs and my ferret, I would set off to discover the natural landscapes of France.
For my wheelchair, I only bought bicycle equipment on the internet, 2 front headlights with a solar panel (2 to have 1 on each side), 2 rear lights with a small solar panel, and wireless turn signals.
When I have finished my folding caravan, I will order again the same bicycle equipment that I bought for my wheelchair, to equip the ATW and the folding caravan, I will also order magnetic rotating lights that we puts them at night on a car that has broken down, if I have to drive at night, I would attach them to the caravan to be clearly visible.
Looking great! Ride footage looked very smooth. How does it respond to heavy braking?
Hi Ross, it brakes well with the hub regen braking. For emergency stops and also to act as a parking brake, I’m going to add an overrun brake to the tow bar like the Carla Cargo bike.
Temporarily homeless, I wish I had one of these. Awesome bro
Thanks and Sorry to hear that. I’m thinking about how I can make these affordable for people. I know many others are working on it.
Lmao, i heard him say "your such a nice giant" too 🤣
I try to be a nice giant :)
"My Dad enters the garage like a tornado." hahaha so accurate 😂
Quite startling 😂
A great overall video, nice video editing and music compilation. This is the first of yours I have watched, so you may have answered before. You are towing an empty shell. Once it is fully provisioned do you have an emergency over-run brake? That would be a brake on the trailer to slow it if it started to push the bike out of control on a downhill run and the bikes brakes can't stop that much weight? Hope that helps!
Hi thank you. Yes, the overrun brake came later and is incorporated into the tow arm. However, never needed it once due to the effectiveness of regen braking.
@Jerbrown Haven't owned anything close to regen braking, but that is a great system!
Hello from Trujillo Perú.
I just came across this video. I have not watched your other videos on the build yet so my question may have already been answered.
Have you installed Surge brakes on the trailer for down hill safety?
I have a surge brake tow arm now. But I found it wasn’t necessary with the regen braking of the motors.
If you build them, I'll buy two!!!
Noted!
Yo bro ...busy working / building my 3 wheel drive trike ,with which I pull a ten foot long trailer .which contains a portable toilet ( US coast garde approved ) . By the way sodering is not suitable for your trailer , look at what did do in a cars ...thanks for the vid , later dude . You are as brilliant as I and I'm 69 , loved your videa and thanks again for your efforts . The planet needs you .
Crimped connections are more flexible, heat-resistant and vibration-resistant than soldered ones which have greater potential for wire fatigue and stiffening. Crimping is often more consistent than soldering, which can vary according to method or technician.Sep 19, 2022
Hey thanks for the tip. I didn’t realize that crimping was more reliable. I’ll have to keep that in mind going forward. Your project sounds beastly! Nice!
And my pleasure! Thanks for the encouragement

From the thumbnail, I hoped this was a camper with a integrated recumbent bike... Still a nice build.
That would be cool!
@@Jerbrown I found a video of a guy prototyping something like that . Search for "Nomad Pedal Camper".
I want one!
Maybe I’ll build some more after I get this one right :)
I just discover your channel via « Bullitt - The dark side ». +1 sub from Belgium 🇧🇪
Cheers friend!
Daily mileage is determined by road conditions and seat , why I use a Terratrike recumbent seat on my trike .
they've given up flying to the sun
Amazing! 😎
no bugs
I think I will wait till after i'm dead before
I get a coffin.
Having seen the general porr driving abilities of people these days, it might be a wise move on your part to think ahead.
I accept the risk.
Also, have you seen the Garmin Varia radar? I’m going to use one to reduce some of the risk.
@@Jerbrown it's not a matter of gadgets bro, it's pure physics.
He who has 4,000 lb and 12 airbags walks away.
You get to peddle your joyous vehicle, along with a tenfold increase in dismemberment and death.
Totally your choice.
Cooles Teil 🎉
Impossible to get a certification for european roads for that.
There is only 1 motor allowed for the whole combination. So either the motor sits in the bike or in the trailer. But no two of them.
And max 250W of continuous power would be allowed.
Well that sucks. Good to know. I’ll have to pedal more in Europe and keep the second motor off. We’ll see how it goes. Thanks for the info.
I like how the fiver guy be int he video. nice.
