I didn't realize you guys are taking a break. We will miss you. I can tell it's your life's passion to continue cruising on your beautiful boat. I love your boat. Beautiful lines. And yes, one big reason I enjoy boating so much is the people. Yachty's such as yourselves, are the best! You'll be back soon. I'll be waiting. 👍👍👍

This is all footage from last summer actually 🙈 so we have already been back in England for 9 months and are now back aboard! So due to the videos being behind, there won't be a big gap in between the new videos coming in a couple of weeks, which are 'real time' sorry for the confusion!
As fellow Brits and six month a year cruisers (now in Mexico), we love watching your videos. Easily the best in the sailing genre. You are quite the couple. When i saw the problems that you were having with VHF reception, as it responded to the cabin light switch, i was talking out loud to you, pointing out that the problem was likely a LED light (LED's are a notoriously "dirty" RF source). My HAM radio instructor taught me to beware of installing LED lights on a boat for this reason (although not LED's are as guilty as each other - it depends on the quality - but he insisted on having at least one old fashioned (power hungry) incandescent light over the SSB/HAM radio, so that he could switch off all LED's when transmitting). Glad to see that you found and corrected the source of the problem (a bad connector). There is always something to change out on a old boat to keep it current (ours is a 1975). Safe travels.

This is brilliant for you both and your relationship, and, for us, your yt journey. You will come back even happier than you are, having filled your respective individualistic buckets, you seem like the type of people. Oh, this has happened a long time ago, so, hope that happened.
When using your backpacks you will be able to distribute the load more evenly if you connect and tighten the waist belt. The tighter the waist belt is cinched the more the load goes to the waist, and easing it puts the load more on the shoulders, thus making it easier to balance the load to your body.

See you took the "inside" passage when you passed Pooles Island. A lot of local sailors don't chance it. Wind has to be right. And if you "hit" something, it MAY well be un-exploded ordinance from WWII. It actually is my favorite way around. Last year we took it while dodging rain squalls at dusk. Epic.

We passed Bora Bora twice coming in and out. Gorgeous vessel!!
Tidewater is a good place. But our early spring storms are hell, well you know - you sailed through the two in late April/May coming up.
Leaving hurts, dwells, pains... But the reunion is epic everytime. ;>)

I along with tons of others will miss your company, hopefully you’ll be back soon after the winter. Have a safe trip home Nicky, and Ben be safe sailing back to the UK. Sometimes when you’ve been living 24/7 in each other’s company and in your case in such a close environment you need more space outside that environment to recharge your battery’s and with the two of you returning to the UK it’ll be good for you both. I hope to see you back with more of your adventures. In the meantime thank you for making an old man happy. 😁🏴⛵️

At 21:05 the camaraderie of boaters is part of it, but so to is your country of origin which has a lot of resonance in Maryland. Traveling around the state, you can clearly see small references to early English colonial history here and there.
Maryland was founded as a proprietary colony in 1632. It was lobbied for by George Calvert, 1st Lord Baltimore, but granted shortly after his death by King Charles the 1st. The grant was conveyed to George's son, Cecil Calvert, 2nd Lord Baltimore and in 1634, Cecil sponsored two ships of Protestant and Catholic settlers to journey to Maryland. They were led by his younger brother, Leonard Calvert, who subsequently became the first governor of Maryland. There is a replica of one of the ships that carried Leonard and his crew to Maryland in Saint Mary's City, which was the first landing spot and settlement established here. The name of the ship Is the "Dove" and it is our "Mayflower." Even our state flag is derived from the coats of arms of English Nobility, that being George Calvert's family. The 1st and 4th quarters are the colors of his father's side of the family (the Calverts). The 2nd and 3rd quarters are the colors from his mother's side of the family (The Crosslands). So more than just general friendliness to another boater, what people are really saying is "Welcome brother!"

Yes we are! We came back in March. Currently in Newport, Rhode island.
coaxial cable can not be mended as you did, it will burn the radio because it will be full of swr`s, it is preferable to use two connectors with a union

Be sure to take extra care in winterizing. There is a long term decline in solar radiance and the winters are become harsher each year. The solar radiance cycle turned down in 2015 and weather will continue to become worse as the cycle bottoms in 2027 or so. It will bring on a mini-ice age. Go to armstrongeconomics.com and search the word solar in the search box at upper right. One of the links shows the cycle for the next many years. Some crop failures have already happened in Europe, I believe.

Ben is a self employed carpenter/builder and I (Nicki) work in hospitality, so it's usually easy to pick up work when we're back.

David Kimmel this footage was from the end of last summer, sorry! We returned to Tidewater this March and spent a month working on the boat, we're now in Newport, RI. Because we were behind with the videos it means new ones will be coming in the next week or two, and there won't be a 9 month gap from when we went back yo the UK!
