Dude I have been saying this since the moment the fight ended. What Joe didn't talk about is the fact that before this happened, Alex couldn't land shit. Hill was making him miss everything. Alex whiffed on a lot of calf kicks and he landed like 3 body jabs and that was it. Hill caught him coming in at one point with a left hook too. He had Alex's timing figured out and was effectively managing distance
Ever since joe is becoming more biased I don't like him commenting for ufc he's like DC biased talking about dumb stuff rather than watching and giving good info
Alex is just built different and really deserves the champion status, best ufc signing in the last few years

A lot of things happened. Pierrera definitely moved in after the nut shot, but it was before Herb stopped the fight, then Hill threw the first shot after the nut shot so the counter punch is fair game
But the thing is that the low blow didn’t bother Alex, so he continued to move forward, then Herb attempted to stop it, Alex caught the kick on the cup, was unbothered/didn’t want to stop the action, so he told Herb it was OK while never taking his eyes off of Hill, then pressed forward and got the left hook. I certainly respect that it adds another integer to the whole situation. But Alex had moved forward before the referee came into halt, so it was nothing dirty on his part. If Hill didn’t like the distance, he could’ve shuffled back too. I get how it creates a corundum, but Alex didn’t do anything dirty, and it is “protect yourself at all times.” I get why it’s not ideal for Hill, but it’s the way that it worked out, and I think it was still fair, even if it wasn’t a typical circumstance.
They reposted the fight on TH-cam. It’s very clear you can hear Herb Dean say “stop”… but then almost immediately and extremely clear again say “continue”
Any distance Alex covered was already before Herb's timeout attempt.

2:07 Look at Jamahal’s toes. This is why you shouldn't fear his feet. He needs to plant the ball of the foot by doing some stretching to get his toes to tilt back at a near 90 degree angle. That will focus the energy directly into the ball & that sh*t is real harmful.
I didnt know alex pereira had a super power that I will call magnet eyes, that after touching gloves caused jamal to keep in close range instead of backing up and moving laterally to reset and resume the outside fighting from further range. Jamal was clearly mesmerized by pereira's eyes and could only try to punch him. If only he had known he was against that power, he would then never have touched gloves to continue the fight, but turned to herb dean to explain and have them resume the fight at a safer distance outside the power's radius.
If jamahal hill didnt throw that punch, i would maybe consider it, but jamahal threw that punch verifying that he was ready for action, but then got folded by alex a second later, clean win for alex in my books
Only casuals don’t think that distance closing doesn’t matter in the highest level of fighting. Most people couldn’t fathom how much every detail matters in the highest of highs in anything.

While I somewhat agree with Joe about Poatan going two steps closer it’s also important to mention that Hill tapped gloves. He could’ve not and the fight would’ve been still stopped. HE AGREED
