Kyo is without doubt the most talented vocalist (and also artist) around. Dir en grey is also one of the most unique metal bands, so be prepared to stay for a looong time ;)
You should also check out the vocalist's other project sukekiyo. As for my top five: Vinushka, Different Sense, Ware yami tote..., The World of Mercy, Rinkaku

"Strange video" ....oh lord, you aren't ready. This is the tamest of tame for them. Also welcome to Kyo's vocal range. His natural singing range is A1-G#7. With screams/growls and falsetto/whistle notes he's hit as low as G1 and as high as C#8 and a debated 9th octave note. If "official" vocal range counted falsetto and growls, he'd have the biggest vocal range in history, but because it's not Mike Patton holds the title, but Kyo actually has more notes than Patton and about ten more styles. Everything from operatic falsetto to death growls to throat singing to glass shattering belts.

Yeah I have heard it only gets more weirder with this band.

Uroko was also the first song I ever heard from them. My personal favorite song is the Blossoming Beelzebub, a slow eerie doom vibe song (album version is the best). But I would recommend the song Vinushka, my 2nd favorite, because that song is a masterpiece, with all the singing techniques of Kyo. It showcases better their talent and versatility. Definitely worth checking out.

if I'm not mistaken uroko means fish scales, I don't remember what the song is about but the lyrics by kyo the vocalist are very confusing (he writes all the lyrics), I recommend ware yami tote ..., vinushka and dozzing green, all live, are songs from the album uroboros. Have a nice day

rana qla fish scales would make sense. Why suggest the songs live first if I may ask?

@@LEDsMoshPit I recommend listening to it live because in many cases kyo sings even better live, also the emotion it gives to live songs is something unique, it is a complete experience to see these guys live, and their concerts are too good is, something insane

*Kaoru the lead guitarist writes the music*
*Kyo, the singer writes all the lyrics. He usually uses Japanese Kenji that have double meaning, which can make difficult to understand what he is trying to express with his lyrics.*
    I suggest:
    *The unraveling*
    th-cam.com/video/b5GDNV7pPWI/w-d-xo.html
*Embryo* (dark lyrics that talk about rape. Kyo takes the role of a woman)

    *Akuro no aka* (live)

    *Tousei* (live)

    *Conceived sorrow* (live)

I really liked your reaction 😊
Uroko means fish scale like people said and the ningyo is Japanese 'meremaid' that if you eat will give eternal life but that life can be curse of course! The lyrics can have much interpretation but I think it is about Hinduism believe of getting horn again and again in way eternal cursed life. With the eating of fish eggs I think this again consuming of the own flesh/killing of baby like abortion it is ongoing theme in their music that you can find in videos and song like Obscure and Mazohyst of Decadence.
I am sorry for mistakes I can not look up words in the moment 😅
My favorite song is Itoshisa ha fuhai ni tsuki. But this is different type if song and it is personal taste. I think you should listen to Vinushka or Macabre next.
I also think always live is best!
Like I said on other channel I feel most bands work on record their songs and then try to match up to the record live but with dir en grey recording is first step and then in shows they start to perfect them and it is ongoing. They change much songs live with time and you can get full emotional experience. It is not for everyone but if it is for you you have a world to discover ☺️
