    • @patrickflynn607

I have a 2019 Pacifica hybrid plug in. According to the manual you will get a warning light on the dash when it is time to change the oil, but adds that if you don't see that after a year you should change the oil. I use full electric so much that I never got the light and had my first oil change on my van's first birthday. Another money saving perk.

To me hybrids still command a initial premium that arent always recouped in a timely manner. Plug-in's definitely step that up if you can manage a good portion of your driving in pure EV mode but are still a financial premium initially. A vehicle like the RAV4 does it right when the price isnt substantially more than the base model, and adds the E-AWD which is perfect for most owners who need that little bit extra traction.

The supposed extras you have to buy can be pricey, like the faster charger for the battery. 226 miles on single charge. Still iffy about a non-gas vehicle though. Plus Honda economy cars are expensive to maintain.
"The CX-5 went in for four scheduled services, which cost $340.57. For comparison, our 2015 CX-5 cost a total of $320.37 for three service visits, and our 2017 Honda CR-V cost $417.60 for two, not including the unscheduled battery and differential fluid change...." Motor Trend

Hybrid cars are not designed to stay & doomed to fail.
After all why carry two power train every where , pay two maintenance, pay for two fuels, two headaches only to achieve one objective !!!
And yet damage environment as there is no Tomorrow...Total madness.
I guess taxi drivers & those travelling more than 300 miles a day could benefit from Hybrid cars.

I use to think that as well. ICE runs considerably less, meaning less money spent on maintenance. no starter , no generator and in reality your transmission on toyota's and Fords are your electric power plant MG1 and MG2. Also regen braking saves brake service, Realistically less than $300 for hybrid maintenance vs $1000 plus for a conventional sedan.

Prius Prius Prius Prius Prius . The 1st gen to 5th gen. Nothing can top this list.
Anything other than them should be followed behind them.
The Hybrids are now competing among themselves. Prius back then was competing against non-hybrids and is still continuing to do so.
And thank God they didn't include Fisker Karma, Bmwi3 to the list. These Series Hybrid Models are an embarrassment to automative Industry.

The only brand I trust is Toyota. Hondas are questionable as they always try to be at par with Toyotas but they fail everytime when it comes to hybrids. Same with other brands. Sorry but that's the truth.

Alan, Honda has had some reliability issues lately.
The Honda CRV with the 1.5 turbo needs to be recalled.
The gas mixing with oil is a black eye for Honda.
Honda 9 speed transmission was recalled. Lurching heavy shifting
Honda CVT. Reported jerky, irritating noise.
Do you want me to go on?

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@rncondie Yes please go on, especially since you've made no mention of some of Toyota's recalls. I really have no preference to either brand or vehicle, but find it interesting people seem to cling to them without too much substance.
