Most people buy hybrids (historically at least) to prove they are more environmentally conscious than everyone else. Why else would.anyone buy the incredibly ugly Prius? It’s a greenie status symbol. 😉
You shlould at least mention an Outlander PHEV to warn people about BMU bug that degrade the battery SOH prematurely. Not very good review as that car sells in thousands.
Electric cars have a limited range..... You do know that Petrol Cars including Hybrids also have a limited range dont you?? It's only the refueling that's different. An electric car can be full of fuel every morning if you "Fill" at home.
The point of a hybrid over a full ev is for people who don't have somewhere to park and charge at night and also want the convinience of throwing fuel in and drive away
Self Charging Rant incoming..... Id like to note here that no hybrid is self charging. The petrol engine and regen breaking does the charging of the battery. I admire how clever it is to call them self charging but it still boils my piss - self charging makes it seem like some kind of wizardry when in fact its a big ass generator at the front that's doing the work which is still emitting particulates into the air, potentially more than a normal petrol (depending on which mode the Hybrid is in). End of Rant
Once again EV zealots need to look up the meaning of HYBRID. No one is saying it's a self charging EV. They provide an efficient stepping stone towards a future where the supply and cost of batteries is such that EVs become practical and ubiquitous. If people are too stupid to know what provides the energy that moves their vehicle (be it petrol, diesel or a nuclear power station), then maybe they are too stupid to have a driver's licence!
Sponsored by Toyota? Their old tech can hardly be called hybrid anymore! You can treat a PHEV just like an EV, if you only drive 20 to 30 miles to work and back every day. You keep talking about real world reviews. Real world EV, in a Toyota hybrid 1 to 3 miles - and no way to plug-in charge it! You may as well buy a 1 litre hatchback and get upto 80mpg!
I don't think the definition for "hybrid" has really changed since they started making them, so I can't see why it could "hardly be called hybrid anymore". That is a nonsense statement. It is still most definitely a hybrid.
I am so very surprised that none of the Lexus hybrid cars is in your top 10 list....where did you get your info from ...mate? to be credible, you have to do more research .. and testing...
He did ... as one of the worst. The thing is , Lexus is basically a luxury Toyota . One would expect them to be on the top list . As he did liked the Toyota ones .
I want a ct200, but it's a gussied up Prius...then I want more ground clearance and power...but 40mpg and above. I had a 2014.5 Camry hybrid...the power was nice.
I have a Toyota CHR with CVT transmission. Its never sluggish as most journalists pointed out. I drive conservatively and loved my CHR. Most journalists put their foot down and expect to go, because it's not their car. You'll never do that to your owned car.
No is300h...I'm totally biased but I think it's a great alternative to a bmw, audi or merc. Proven tech and the quality of the interior is extremely high. For a 2.5 petrol, I'm getting an indicated 42 mpg on a 22 mile trip with a mix of town driving and 50mph average speed cameras. In the summer and on a longer run might be able to creep it up a few more mpg.
To have had a chance of making this list it would need to be available in the UK. Did nobody notice the British accent? We never got the Chevrolet Volt in the UK. We did have the Vauxhall Ampera, but that was discontinued in 2015.
Anane Frimpong It’s subjective. You can’t really get a feel for how a car feels/looks/performs from raw figures (like MPG, acceleration, braking, etc).
The Volvo has such a poor build quality.. I own one and I am a Swede but I hate this brand! Badly put together and ratles worse than an 80´s car, everything is loose and you go nuts! Gearboxes brakes aswell as they have lot´s of problem with the ignition...
The video is biased. They have not included the best selling in the world plug-in hybrid car Mitsubishi PHEV, which is superior in many ways to most of the cars in the list presented in this video.
Or is it your comment that is baised? The Outlander didn't make their top 10, or worst list. It is quite and old design, and not the latest hybrid technology, so not unrealistic that you'd find it isn't the best of its kind anymore.
*Don't be deceived by the hype - PLUG IN HYBRIDS are the way to go, up to 30 miles on Electric Mode suits most needs and any further distances can be easily achieved by old fashioned Petrol - IE VW Golf GTE and shortly to be Launched Mercedes B200 Plug In Hybrid with everything you would desire.*
In my country you need to pay extra annual tax for plugin. In addition, plugin has more weight than regular hybrid and plugin cable takes space in boot and it is more trouble plugging + refueling compared to just refueling..
@@nickiemcnichols5397 my review so far is that my wife says it's her favorite car to drive. If you work in Britain you can have a car as a part of your wage. The corporation pays all costs, often not the fuel, and can offset the costs against tax.
Hybrid cars also have a limited range, it’s known as the capacity of the fuel tank! The i8 is not a hybrid in the context of this extraordinary bland video, it is purely electric as the ICE Is merely a means of charging the battery when it’s required, it does not power the wheels unlike Toyota, and other “Hybrids’
That's not how the i8 works. The main electric motor power the front wheels, and the ICE the rear ones, aided by yet another small motor/generator. You are probably confusing the drive train/hybrid scheme with some other car (maybe the i3 Rex).

In short, you are doing your part; your car is not doing its. Again, sorry to read it.
What was the real world mpg on the Yaris?
I get average 60mpg driving around town and motorway driving
What about the Honda Vezel
Why ''Toyota to Porsche'? Are they polar opposite in some way?
I see looks aren't a factor in this list
Most people buy hybrids (historically at least) to prove they are more environmentally conscious than everyone else. Why else would.anyone buy the incredibly ugly Prius? It’s a greenie status symbol. 😉
Dan Myers what about the people who want to save money on gas?
Yeah, most Hybrid cars look goofy as hell...
What about the MERCEDES GLE HYBRIDE
You shlould at least mention an Outlander PHEV to warn people about BMU bug that degrade the battery SOH prematurely. Not very good review as that car sells in thousands.
Avoid the 1.8H, and go to the 2.0H. It requires less fuel, more EV Range and faster and more refined.
and less boot space. only shoes fit there.. lol
Looking at one at the moment.. but the estate as the hatchback boot is tiny.
@@milordas It has the same
Electric cars have a limited range.....
Volvo, BMW? Give me a break!
Toyota is the only option if you want reliability. Even Hondas don't match up.
Can anyone explain the point of a 'hybrid' car?
Err you use petrol and get double the fuel economy.
@@kablouserful Manufactures claims for economy are grossly exaggerated.
How can i buy from you guys,i'm from South Africa?
What about Toyota Camry hybrid
I'll wait till Lamborghini makes a hybrid.
End of Rant
*_SELF CHARGING_** HYBRID It's the most misleading Con of the 21st Century so far.*
They do charge without a plug.
Simon you do make a valid point, but I have to agree with Ian.
You a bit dim Simon 😂
Audi A3 hybrid is the best absolutely. I can drive 1500 km full tank . Amazing performance. comfortable. Practical. Better than corolla way more
I have a lexuz ct200h and is a great car
You missed out the Kia Optima PHEV. Amazing refinement and excellent spec levels.
Ford Fusion hybrid?? I heard good things about it
We don't get the Fusion over here in the UK. There are a lot of models we don't get, that seems to have confused a lot of you international viewers!
Toyota RAV4 is the best hybrid on the market for its class and it is not even mentioned :)) Get another job dude!
My colleague said, he wanted a couple instead of the CT200 shortly after buying it... well... or it is just the car?
Mondeo Hybrid is great. I get 60+ mog on short trips and 48mpg on the motorways. It’s a very big car.
ford is not a car
I love my Prius V
Where is the Camry and Accord?
Not in the UK.
You may as well buy a 1 litre hatchback and get upto 80mpg!
computerbob06 Toyota has offered plug in hybrid in many countries.
Why so offended he didn't mention lexus? 🤷😂
He did ... as one of the worst.
The thing is , Lexus is basically a luxury Toyota . One would expect them to be on the top list . As he did liked the Toyota ones .
J.D. Power
I'm surprised the Chevrolet Volt wasn't mentioned. I've definitely gone 3 + months without even seeing a gas station.
To have had a chance of making this list it would need to be available in the UK. Did nobody notice the British accent? We never got the Chevrolet Volt in the UK. We did have the Vauxhall Ampera, but that was discontinued in 2015.
Volt was discontinued in favor of Bolt. Go figure.
Are you stupid? Chevy is worst car in the world
This is very bland. Where are your facts and figures?
Anane Frimpong It’s subjective. You can’t really get a feel for how a car feels/looks/performs from raw figures (like MPG, acceleration, braking, etc).
Did you visit the site for the 'full reviews' that the video mentions?
The Volvo has such a poor build quality.. I own one and I am a Swede but I hate this brand! Badly put together and ratles worse than an 80´s car, everything is loose and you go nuts! Gearboxes brakes aswell as they have lot´s of problem with the ignition...
At least this video doesn't show too many Hyundai's. Great job guys!
Infiniti is a ridiculous car. Waste of money.
The video is biased. They have not included the best selling in the world plug-in hybrid car Mitsubishi PHEV, which is superior in many ways to most of the cars in the list presented in this video.
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Who got 5 hours time to plug in and charge the battery lol
@@saeedkhan-oq5gr *Overnight !*
You made it seem like a Tesla has a limited range those cars go faster and farther than gas cars
Easiest way is to put Toyota on the first 4-5 places than anyone else
S class and bmw 5 th are nicer though
Wait for Highlander hybird.
Ioniq ❤🏆
You forgot the NIRO!!! That's the best hybrid. .!
This is a lifted Ioniq in a different bodystyle?
I have the Niro PHEV, and it beats the snot out of my Prius in every way, except for cargo space.
Dana Leasman will you please make a review video? I might want one.
@@nickiemcnichols5397 my review so far is that my wife says it's her favorite car to drive. (Comparing to Audi Q7 and S4, Mercedes E350 and ML350, Prius and Mini Cooper S) In town, we use pretty much elec only, and then gas on hiway. 70-90mph mixed. Using a Chargepoint home charger at home. Charging cost is about 3.5 cents per mile, vs gas which is about 7.5 cents (Niro) to 22 cents (Q7 w/91 octane). It's easy to drive, quiet, and loaded with tech, comfort and safety features. Could not be happier with it.
In hybride cars. I have A 2012 prius
why does he keep saying "company car?" what does that mean?
punkpanther86 I think it means that again, corporations are eligible for a tax break that we are not going to get.
If you work in Britain you can have a car as a part of your wage. The corporation pays all costs, often not the fuel, and can offset the costs against tax.
it belongs to the business you work for.
