I have had the oriental ramen salad lots of times and it is my go to when someone has it. You could also add sliced green onion and a small can of mandarin oranges.

I have made another version of the 1st recipe as a meal or for several pot lucks. Got tons of compliments. For a variation use chopped nappa cabbage and grilled or rotisserie chicken. I used granulated splenda instead of sugar in the dressing and toasted the crushed ramen with the slivered almonds in a pan with a little butter as the topping....perfection! All the rest is the same. Now Im gonna crave this until I make it! 🤤

  • @TrimansWife

I have made all of these recipes many times. The potatoes casserole and the fried cabbage MUST have onions!! You might want to get hypnotized to learn to love onion’s because leaving them out of most recipes alters the flavor and not for the best!
Also, I make this fried cabbage and use smoked sausage or kielbasas (skins removed, sliced and fried first). I have been asked the recipe so many times!!

We *always* double the sauce with practically any recipe, only add what's called for unless the recipe looks dry. We save extra sauce to serve on the side. In this particular recipe we add a teaspoon or so of garlic powder to the sauce. Very often we separate the salad in half and into half we add some shredded, cooked chicken and serve it on a lettuce leaf with a cup/bowl of vegetable or chicken noodle soup on the side and some hot, fresh breadsticks for lunch or an evening when we had a big lunch and aren't that hungry.

Whenever she had leftover ham, my Mom made au grautin potatoes with it. It was one of my favorite comfort foods growing up.
We've made the Asian salad for years, but we saute the almonds, dry noodles and sesame seeds in a little butter. We don't use the seasoning packet, but add a little sesame oil to the dressing. It's so good! For a healthier version, I'd use avocado oil instead of butter. To cut out the sugar, I'd make the dressing with a little liquid monkfruit instead. I wish I could find plain ramen noodles without refined oils or other processed ingredients.
The cabbage dish looks great! Mustard is an interesting addition.

You need to try dehydrated onions. My Mom has used these for years to trick my brother who doesn't like the crunch of onions in his food but loves the flavor. They are small pieces and are not detectable once cooked in the food. You just put them in dry.. as much or as little as you like and have the flavor of fresh onions. I love watching your videos so much!! Excited for Chasing Sunsets as well 🤗❤️

Asian ramen salad - I toast the crunched up noodles with the almonds and use much more soy sauce but the low sodium variety. Gives more flavor with out going overboard on the salt.
