I’m not a Jeep owner but I appreciate your reaction, videos and insight into your experience with these. My friends with Jeeps have tackled the things you have and I blame your bad experiences on the tires. If you went with a more aggressive tire, your Jeep would own the obstacles you struggled on.
Thanks for posting. I like these tires on paper and hearing your review is very helpful. I'm driving F150, FX4 and looking for replacement of OEM tires.
Fantastic review. Spot on with my experience with these tires in 35x12.5. Super quite at first, rocks always stuck in the treads, can't get the shop I bought them from to get them balanced right. I was beginning to think the shop was just too lazy to do it right. Very interesting you had same experience.
1 year ago, I put these tires on my 06 Montero Limited. I couldn't be happier with them! I was originally going to purchase the General Grabber AT2. They are a phenomenal tire!!!! The tire dealer showed me the Discover AT3. I was hesitant. The dealer said this to me. $137.00 per tire! SOLD! Lol If I could, I would shake that mans hand again! I am very glad to run these tires! PS: I miss sand dunes! :(
I love my XLT's, I have them on my Bronco. We do mud, snow, rocks, sand... and these Coopers have yet to failed me. I have a set of STT's that I have in reserve for nasty wheeling. Truthfully, now that I've wheeled with the XLT's, I don't think I need to go through the hassle of swapping them over to the STT's. I probably will because they look so good on the Bronco, but the Cooper AT3 XLT are the boss...
Awesome review man! Perfect timing I am considering these or KO2s for my truck, and with how quiet, durable and long lasting these seem to be you might have sold me. Thanks!
Just moved to AL myself. Try the S/T Maxx. I’ve have them on my Chevy HD for over 35k miles with about 50% tread left, and I beat on them constantly to see what they can handle and never had a puncture or gotten stuck. Also tow about 13k #s twice a month.
Hey good review. I’m from Alabama too but I’m a diesel guy. I’m having to buy a set of these because it’s literally the only AT tire available right now
Great review, dude. Not surprised one bit by the lackluster performance in mud, simply because it's not a mud-oriented tire category---WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE CATEGORY "ALL-TERRAIN"...No, THEY'RE NOT. THEY SHOULD BE CALLED, ALMOST ALL TERRAIN. THAT SAID, I chose these for putting on our pastor's pickup, and on road through four seasons in Northern indiana, THEY ARE SUPERB. I WOULD PROBABLY select these now for my 4x4 pickup, but I need something that's more reliable in mud. Otherwise, I wish I could have these and count on them in mud but it's just not the way they're designed. I think I'm going to try the MASTERCRAFT COURSER CXT..
I confirm about balancing its a pain in the A, never get it right, some times are bumpy, they are kind of wierd, but your pros are the same to me I own a ram sport 4x4 2016
Thanks for the in-depth review on these tires, I’m considering 37’s for my Ram power wagon, but, I heard they sucked in mud, but were awesome at everything else 🤙🏻
I had these on a previous truck. Best thing I ever did was take them off and put on Nitto Terra Grappler G2. That truck is now gone and I now have a 4Runner with terra Grappler g2. Amazing. My issues with the Cooper Discovery AT3 are same as yours. Tire store couldn't balance. One tire had over 8 ounces on it. That's over a half a pound. Shake rattle and roll is what I called them. Rock hungry like you said. I kept a small screw driver by my seat to pick out the tires after being in gravel. The traction was amazing though and the life was decent. The life was actually too good for a tire I hated. LOL The Terra Grappler G2 has comparable traction. Isn't as rock hungry. Balanced perfect. Price comparable.
Nice! Good to know. Since posting this review, I've just about talked myself into getting a tire much more suited for the mud. Seems like I can't get away from it wherever I ride around here. I hate mud.
Got my wife a 4runner it came with the nitto G2 in my opinion I thought they were pretty good tires but she kept nagging about the way they were in wet weather. I looked at reviews on AT tires most rated the Cooper AT3 best in rain. Ordered the at3 and are hands down way better wet traction gotta make sure family stays safe but they have the shake you talk about had them balanced three times there better now but I don't think I'll buy them again
They're quieter than all terrains. They're more like a passenger tire. Yes, not great in mud, yes they pick up rocks like CRAZY. I have the AT34s and it's about the same. Airing down with these is SUPER critical. Alabama here also. Where do you wheel? Road traction and dirt traction and mud that's less than 6 inches deep. They do great. They're quiet, just like everything you said.
Very good review, dude... to the point, and you presented PROS & CONS perfectly. I already planned on buying the discoverer AT (prev. Gen), Just wanted to check your video to see how the tread pattern does for you after 20k mi. Keep up the good content. For my 2015 RAM ECODIESEL, I'm buying the previous generation AT through Walmart in 33-in. version, for midwest winter duty, and any modest off-road action apart from serious mud. For serious mud & serious rock crawling, I just ordered 34-in. Patagonias. For summer duty, i have 31.5-inch MasterCraft HXT which are a great tire themselves, whether dry, downpour or even snowy roads in NE Indiana, they're truly a great all-season tire, providing a comfortable, quiet ride with excellent handling manners. I'm keeping all 3 sets on their own sets of wheels for simple changing back-and-forth on the fly. Is all enable me to just take the mounted sets to and off road treks or something, doing my highway miles on my summer tires. Thanks again.
Thanks! That sounds like a good plan to me. I may do something similar and put a set of mud tires on a second set of wheels to swap out for those muddier trips. Thanks for watching!
Solid review, fitting these to my 200 series today, removing the BF KO2's, I hated how they perform in wet weather at highway speed. Lets hope the Coopers are better.
Good review video! 🤓👍🏻 I’ve been considering these tires for my 2013 F-150 4x4 When I got the truck used it already had Goodyear Duratrac tires on it, which work great off road, but are a bit noisy on road. And honestly I daily the truck and don’t do much offroading yet because I wanna pay off the truck first, and offroading tends to break shit lol.
i have the cooer at3 lt, they dont make these in 245/75/16 was going to get these, watched a video a jeep straight up a snowy hill cooper at beat bfg at and was best at 31 psi
Thanks! I've seen the Trail Grappler works better for mud so if that factors into your decision at all, probably go Nitto. If not, like you said, the Coopers are lighter and cheaper and look just as aggressive. Thanks for watching!
MAJOR ISSUE with these tires. I've had these tires for 30k miles on my RAM and used it almost identical as you and have absolutely loved them in most conditions. Recently I seen a post about someone having cracking on the sidewall and sure enough I had some deep cracks around most of the tire, aprox. 1/2 inch from the rim bead area, on all 4 of my tires. This could have caused a serious accident in the event of a blowout while pulling my TT. I immediately removed these tires from my truck. Just trying to raise awareness before someone has an accident.
I’m switching right now from KO2s to these both in a 275x70R18 I was looking for better wet and snow performance on road. 3 guys in the shop have done the same. They say they’re not only cheaper but they last longer which is saying something considering I got 55,000 miles out of my KO2s.
Thanks for the video. Can you put a tape o. Yours and tell me how tall they are, especially if you get the 37's, I'm looking hard at them for my gladiator
@@nitropanda5620 I have not. I'm currently running 37 12.5 17 Goodyear MTRs. I got them used with about 75% tread left on them. They measured 36.2 mounted at 33psi. The guy I got them from said they measure 36.5 when they were new mounted on his TJ.
what have u done to ur jeep to run tires this size? i have a jkur with a leveling kit which raised it 2" in the front and 1" in the rear... i'm thinking of stepping into a 34" tire and was wondering about rubbing at full turn or off road..
Deep, heavy wet snow, I had the AT3 4S give up, I replaced with Grabber ATx which do much better in the heavy stuff. The AT3 were the best on wet pavement, hitting standing water at speed hardly ever fazed them.

Have you been able to compare these to the KO2's?

KO2's are soft and chunk out on gravel roads. W Texas roads expect 7-14k miles a set and if only hwy maybe 40-45k miles.
