    Even though the current draw is low and the time on is relatively low, if you find you start popping reverse light fuses, use a relay and let the current come straight from the battery and use your OEM reverse wire as the trigger to allow the battery to supply full current.
    Some mount the flush mounts inside and forward inside the steps.
    With your light bar, a SPDT switch will allow you to instantly trigger turn with your high beams or independently.
    Good video, I run these on my trucks, and trailers as reverse lights. I've got a magnetic mount backup camera that's powered by the cig lighter and when on the back of the trailer with these lights, it's like day.

      With a LED lamp?! Maybe..is pulling one half to 3 amps if EVERY LIGHT WAS ON! Are you a Fuse Salesman?

    Liquid electrical tape works great when joining three wires it doesn't allow a space for water to get in between the wires

    I'm really going to try this. I have a 2015 Silverado with tint over factory tint. I can hardly see. And I have that same problem at night or early morning with the camera. I thought that was just me, thanks.👍

    I see you have a switch , I wired all my light bars and led fog lights into the factory fog light switch cause it has a built in relay and I didn’t want to drill into my dash either and with the reverse lights I wired them into the cargo light on the back of the cab into the factory switch. Clean and looks factory. Great Video 👍

      Mark Jenkins Thank you and once again very good video. I had mine originally wired like that but I wanted them on a switch also so I could use them for camping and extra lighting, also work great for tailgaters lol 😂 Hopefully everything holds up , I live in Alberta Canada and the winters can be harsh plus all the salt they put on the roads . I just installed mine this summer, haven’t had them in the winter yet.

      Mark Jenkins That’s good to know they held up good. Having the rear lights are handy to have especially with tinted windows.

    Great video, 2 questions. How did you splice the yellow wire into the reverse wire? as in what did you use?
    -and - Where is the link to video you mentioned that identifies the reverse wire on a GMC. Thanks!

    I liked the video and have the same lights to install on my 2008 Silverado. My question is can I run my ground wires the same way you ran your hot wires bringing both of the ground wires back to the ground wire off of the trailer harness like you brought the hot wires back to the back up wire on the trailer harness?

    Never ever splice into exisiting wiring for power especially for lights.. Most vehicle wiring is ment for whatever it powers and there isnt much leeway to it.. Its better to splice into the wire and use it for a trigger for a relay instead,. and run new wire from the batter to the relay and fuse.. this way these lights are on a seperate circuit

    • @Rasyvnos

      My man, these are LEDs, not halogens. The draw is miniscule, even moreso if you've swapped the old halogen bulb for aftermarket LED bulbs. (Which you're horrible if you've done, and everyone in oncoming traffic hates you, but reverse lights are pretty harmless.)

    • @JDL_MobileRepair
      @JDL_MobileRepair 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah… plus you’re in reverse for about 10-15 seconds at most any given moment so the “side effects” would not have time to make an impact. Also, as the other guy said, its LEDs.

    Hey bud I’m from good ole Maine too. Question for you though. Did you have any concerns with over powering the circuit without doing a relay or inline fuse. I have a 2015 f150 that I want to do this too. I’ve been told I can tap into my trailer lights for the reverse. Yay or nay?

    Hey partner.. I bought the same lights for F150 5.0 They will work individually but not with both hooked up at the same time? Am I tripping a relay or something? But they will both work with the ignition on accessory but not with the engine running.😅

    Mine came with a harness, so there was two wires going to the lights, and a pre wired harness of three going to the switch, so it never told me what color did what. It never told me to wire in a ground, and there was no space for an extra wire. It never told me to run a wire to the fuse box either, the harness came from the front of the car. Needless to say, they never woirked on, no matter how i wired it.
    Odd, same day I wired up a pair of Hella front fog lights, those worked fine.
    But the lights that came with the pre-wired harness, not so much.

    I did this and they work great, but i am getting a “park assist is unavailable” message on my reverse cam because the car thinks i have a trailer hooked up now. Any ideas for a solution?

    • @bludragontruck9743
      @bludragontruck9743 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, did you get that "park assist" thing taken care of? If you do, you might want to take it to a Chevrolet dealer. I have a 2015 Silverado and 1st owner. Recently this year we received a recall for the "park assist". Havent taken it in yet, but I'm thinking you might want to ask about if you fall into that recall. Good luck.
