Yeah, I get the feeling that him, and Satch, are some of the most humble and chill guys in the music industry. I guess when you got nothing to prove (And vai really does have nothing to prove, his talent is beyond reproach) it gives you space to be a be a more agreeable person
Frank Zappa's wisdom is still so relevant - "Guitars aren't so sacred" - shout that out brother. I love seeing Steve in his home studio and thinking about all the stories that reside in the guitars that are all over that space. And hearing the stories that Steve is happy to share with us.
Little Green Men - fantastic! Back in the day I would put on Flex-able when friends were round and just wait for their reaction to There's Something Dead in Here. They knew I liked Zappa so it was to be expected that I'd make them listen to some weird stuff but that final track was always a shock to the system.
@2:55 Matthew’s Music in Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island. Spend many MANY hours there as a kid. One memory that sticks out was they had the Guitar Player Magazine with Steve on the cover in 1986, playing that mini guitar (think it was his first GP cover too) and I had no dough. Went back the next day and they were all gone :(. Bummed me out. I was just a kid so didn’t know about back ordering issues or whatever. Years later … thanks to EBay , was able to get that issue 😊 We need music stores in malls to make a comeback.
HA! I just turned on "Flex-Able" the other day after not having listened to it in decades. That album was Steve in transition and some of his best work IMO.
Can anyone describe those Little Green Men chords at 3:52? The one I can pick out from the start sounds like an A sus 577600. But I've had trouble with the shifting chords he plays.
Steve Vai is the best. I wonder how much that Strat (his first real guitar that went with him through the Frank years) would go for today if auctioned?
This whole time I thought Inviolate was pronounced differently. I was saying it like Inviolayt lmfao I really liked the song Little Pretty, that one and Apollo In Color were my favorites. Thanks for sharing the cool videos with Steve Vai I love him. I love his music of course but more importantly I learned some things from him as a person outside of music that helped me when I was struggling the most.
Please do BIAS FX Steve Vai pack, since you 're collabing. Don't miss the chance. I hoped for BIAS Zakk Wylde when I saw you working together a while ago, but it never materialized. I wish it did!
He's always had an endless stream of variants floating around - that one looks like ash and maple with SSS and a non-locking trem, very Strat-like; he's been known to dabble with builds that are evocative of more traditional setups like that.
Steve has such an innocence in his display of the love for his guitars, friends, and life. Its not just his playing, its him.

I could watch hours of content like this from Vai.

Steve talks about this guitar as he loves his wife, such a freind to have forever! 🙏
Love to see him so happy , always reminds me of my college professor , youthful as ever
An inspiring human being, miss his podcasts during covit, lots to learn, and ponder every day
Agreed! The 'Under It All' episodes were fantastic. I think I might revisit them again very soon... 🙏😎
Always a treat to see Steve talk about his axes 😊. A consummate professional if there ever was one 🎉
I love little green men so much, and seeing Steve play just a little bit of it.. Wow… 😊
it looks - cheesy . you cant call that a guitar 😜

Wow! Vai plays Little Green Men!! Awesomeness :)
Wow! I also got my first guitar at age 15 at Matthews Music, Roosevelt Field Mall. It was "The Cat" by Aria Pro II, white. Crazy!
Steve makes me smile.
I’m so glad Steve got his guitar back! Love your playing Steve!
Steve is one of the coolest dudes on the planet!
What a dude! Check out that great rhythm playing near the end. Killer.

I was knocked out when he mentioned that store. I also got my frist guitar there. It was "The Cat" model by Aria Pro Ii, color white. I was also 15.
Today I don't think mom and pop music stores would be able to compete with larger chain stores.
2:43 Wow Steve, that’s your best riff ever 👍
Little Green Men! I love that song, and that whole album.
Such fantastic video with one of the modern genius STEVE VAI 🫡
My mom rest her soul always said 'health, wealth and happiness rarely go together' you Sir broken the rule. You are the secret source.
Aaaahh! Great to hear Little Green Men coming outta those hands!
great playing as always, amazing right hand in Answers and Little Green Men segments ;)
Peace Steve❤
I love it! More Steve Vai guitar history videos please!!
The stories those guitars could tell! Can't wait for my Vai Spark Mini to arrive later this month!
Thank you for this !
Steve's got more gear than most guitar stores! Good Lawd!
Jack Butler. I've been a fan every since then

Were all of these guitars played through the Vai Spark? It's great to hear the history of these unique instruments!
Yup! Everything through Spark MINI Vai recorded live in the room.

I thought the same thing seeing Nuno Bettencourt with Positive Grid
hes my idol
I read everything too fast. I thought you guys were releasing a Satchmoe Amp next. Boy my wife would be passed, id have to buy that mini too
2:42 😮
Hi guys, which Ibanez is the one at minute 3:00? just behind Steve? thx
It was made for the Beat tour
I think it's just a customized RG series
@@DennisTeti no, he’s playing it on the Beat tour with Adrian Belew. It’s an evolution of the StratoJem he used on Candle Power, apparently
lastly.. he really love fender

I wonder what the 21 fret “yellow” JEM could be , the one on the left?

@@PatternRecognitionMusic hmm, that almost looks like an RT series guitar. Thanks for your input!
Steve can you please do a Halo play through
0:30🤦🤣🤣🤣🤣
175 $ for a Fender Strat… that was quite a long time ago.
Something about the recovery story of the Swiss Cheese ... it sounds fishy. "My grandmother's attic?" Tijuana? Mmm hmm. Sure.
The Strat used for Call it Sleep. 🥹
