I well recall how our organist and choirmaster used to hammer into us the need not to sing Rideon, Rideon, but Ride on, Ride on. with a clear gap between the "ride" and the "on". No idea if we did or how it ultimately sounded, but this was 60 years ago at Christ Church in Clevedon, Somerset. God bless you, Reg Marks, you were great. Hope we were too.

Wonderful memories of this Palm Sunday hymn we sang in All Saints Church choir in Coonoor Nilgiris Remember this my friends around the world . The entrance hymn ride on in Majesty our Lord and Saviour so humbly came to offer His life for our salvation. May this day be one of blessings and miracles. Amen.🕊 ❤ 👼 💍 🌈 💫 🎶
This song makes me cry😢. This is the song sung at my teachers funeral. Yes my teacher died. So this is a happy sad song for me😢. Forevermore in heaven may you rest ms turek.
This is the place to be for Festival Sundays and major Christian holidays....I had the privilege of attending the Service of 9 Lessons and Carols here in 2000.....what an incredible experience that I shall never forget.
Thank You. I have been used to hearing this hymn sung on Palm Sunday. For some reason my Anglican Church has not sung it the last two years. I am thankful that a rendition of it is available.
This traditional Easter hymn, 'Ride On, Ride On In Majesty !', which commemorates Yeshua's or Jesus' entry into the Holy City of Jerusalem, City of King David of Israel, riding upon a donkey at the Passover almost 2,000 years ago, is extraordinarily beautiful and poignant ! I listen to this Easter hymn every year at this time and find it profoundly moving.... It is an absolute joy to listen to with the trebles of the boys alternating with the bases of the young men in the singing of each verse
This is so beautiful, it reminds me how wonderful our Lord is, such a brilliant Son Of Man made flesh for us. Better than all the chocolate or the best tasting things we all adore, and cant stop adoring for love of them !
When Bach sang as a boy in the Mettenchor in Lüneburg, he was listed on the payroll records as singing "Discantus", which relates to what the boys here were doing in the last verse!
This hymn was given to me in dreams during easter this year . l was so busy with other things l even didnt know it was easter week. I also didnt know about this hymn then after that dream l came searching and realised its an easter hymn and just that moment l realised it was easter week. I dont know why l was given this song apart from just reminding me that its easter week. I ask God everyday that why
Ride on, ride on, in majesty! Hark! all the tribes hosanna cry. 0 Savior meek, pursue Thy road, With palms and scattered garments strowed. Ride on, ride on, in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die. 0 Christ, Thy triumphs now begin O'er captive death and conquered sin. Ride on, ride on, in majesty! The angel armies of the sky Look down with sad and wondering eyes To see the approaching Sacrifice. Ride on, ride on, in majesty! Thy last and fiercest strife is nigh; The Father on His sapphire throne Expects His own anointed Son. Ride on, ride on, in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die. Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain. Then take, 0 Christ, Thy power and reign.
Americans are obsessed with national politics in this turbulent era when we could more profitably be learning how to praise and honor our eternal King. Hopefully soon we'll all realize that we're really Monarchists. Even so, Come LORD Jesus!
Whether the tomb was empty on Easter morning or whether there was a tomb matter little since we achieve immortality, even if only for the moment, in music such as this.
I greatly admire the organist, his style and performance !!! Reminds me of myself, in my college days..... Can anyone tell me if he has his own performance page on You Tube or Facebook, etc..... Thanks

I love this. Beautifully done. Just one bit of constructive criticism: the last reverberation is cut off when the recording was edited. I was enjoying the echoing sound emitted from that space, only to find it cut off prematurely.

Diction correctness aside, with that echo it would be a muddy mess!
Never fails to uplift me, gives me hope despite the horrors and depravity we see in this fallen world.
Well said, I agree !
We have the eternal hope in Jesus who will one day set thus world right according to His will.

One of the boldest final verses in any hymn "Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain, then take, O God, Thy power and reign!"
Yes! I heard this sung tonight in church in the US and that last line struck me as so powerful!
May you have a blessed Palm Sunday! Majestic hymn, well sung. Jesus Christ is Lord of all!
You too.

This is a nice song that is really good for Palm Sunday. Or even as Lent is finishing.

so dark and solemn..
It's quite a few hundred years old! It's also a Palm Sunday hymn, depicting the impeding killing of Jesus Christ. Nothing to dance about that.
To see the approaching sacrifice. I guess he was sacrificed too.
