    The Moscow FIDE Grand Prix is taking place in the Botvinnik Central Chess Club from May 17-29 2019. The 16-player knockout is the 1st of four legs of the 22-player Grand Prix series that will determine two places in the 2020 Candidates Tournament. Players compete in 3 of the 4 tournaments, which each have a 130,000 euro prize fund, with 24,000 for 1st place. There are also from 1 (quarterfinal loser) to 8 (winner) Grand Prix points available, plus an additional point for each match win without tiebreaks. The overall series prize fund is 280,000, with 50,000 for 1st place.
    Each round consists of two games of classical chess, with a time control of 90 minutes/40 moves + 30 min to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If the match is tied two 25+10 rapid games are played. If still tied, there are two 10+10 games, then two 5+3. Finally a single Armageddon game is played, where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4 (with a 2-second increment from move 61) but Black wins the match with a draw. Leading partners of the series are PhosAgro and Kaspersky Lab. Official website: worldchess.com

    At 7:30 Isn't best move Rh5? If black want to trap the rook he must play Kg6 so then you take the bishop with white NxE6 then if Rook takes h5 Rook you'll fork it with Nf4 so he can't do that, so black must capture with King..Kxh5 then white simply Nxh7 with tempo of Check. Isn't this line better or do I miss something?

    Must say that the link to the chess clock is too slow, it doesnt show up after lowering description.
    I think yt simply blocks links to the apps.

    11:50 Dubov should've put the knight to g2 instead of moving the king. Forking the black square bishop and the king. If rook captures then just king captures and you still up a pawn, a winning condition for him.

    • @idosenesh
      @idosenesh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why capture? Kg3 and than start collecting the pawns (or recapture bishop and than collect)

    • @lordstarship827
      @lordstarship827 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ido senesh Even when the king starts capturing the pawn you're still up a piece because the bishop is no longer a threat plus the pawn in h6 is vulnerable, rook itself can't checkmate the king.

    • @idosenesh
      @idosenesh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean, to take the game into a rook vs bishop endgame that will be drawn?

    • @lordstarship827
      @lordstarship827 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ido senesh Better draw then lose. Also, the knight can survive to capture the rook. The pawn on the h rank is not in a good position considering the bishop controls the dark square. You can just move your king to help the pawn or get the knight out of there and capture the rook. It's a hard play but sure a very talented player like Dubov can do that.

    • @AnhNguyen-qe6rm
      @AnhNguyen-qe6rm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean at 11:46?? Ng2+ Kf3. You will just lose your Knight. If Nxf4 Ra1 is checkmate. If Ne1 or Nh4+ again the Black King can come to g3, collect the pawns for free and it's over. Even Alpha Zero would fail to draw such a position, let alone a human player.
