Basia, I'm SOOO happy you love your mitre vise! It really is an invaluable tool. I've been singing it on the mountain for years. I am so surprised how many jewelers don't or didn't know about this tool, and I'm glad you are singing about it too! This is an excellent list, thank you for sharing. 🌺 🌺 🌺

for a small workshop. . have you considered a magnetic pin tumbler. .they have many sizes with speed control. . one has changed my workflow immensely. .the burnish effect on silver saves the small details over bristle polishing.

Heat shield to protect elements from melting and/or solder from flowing where I don’t want it to flow anymore is a staple. The clay paste used as a third arm has some similar properties to this and I like to use it for some things, But I found that vigor heat shield as a more versatile and budget friendly ‘protector”. I first learned about it from a British jewelry show where a lady used it to protect a pearl from heat on a soldering job. Also can’t live without a second torch in the studio - both when fuel runs out of one…I could just grab the second…and for when I need to use 2 torches (I do this at times when I want more control: putting metal on a tripod over wire mesh …heat with one torch from the bottom…adjusting for how close it is to the metal and using the second torch to direct flame from above. It sounds scary but it’s actually quite fun and looks like a witchy magic spell cast session.

Is it me or does the mitre jig look like a cute little robot?! As you know I make and resell costume jewellery so my go-tos are my pliers (many types), loupe, jump ring opener (that you wear like a ring) and my strong magnet for quick checking if something is silver/gold or not 💕♻️
