The Korean-American talking about shooting from rooftops wasn't making a gang reference, it's a reference to the "Rooftop Koreans" protecting their stores and homes during the Rodney King riots.
Yeah they did well the second amendment at work. The 90s was different. California's had rights. That's why California regulates guns so much now they want you the law abiding citizen unarmed while allowing criminals to run rampant. Now days they would be charged with attempted murder for defending their own businesses
Also usually used as a right-wing dogwhistle, 2/3 of the time whenever I see the reference it’s a bunch of 4channers salivating about shooting black people.
@user-ov4wr5yu4r the way the voiceover from the foreign news place worded it was, I felt, misleading enough that I wanted to make a comment. There are PLENTY of people on TH-cam who weren't even alive for Rodney King, and even if they were, the narrative around the Rooftop Koreans has been mostly crap until relatively recently. In my estimate, tons of people who would be interested in Johnny Somali would hear someone talking about guns on rooftops followed closely by someone saying in VO that Korean-Americans were claiming gang affiliation and link the two.
He’s sitting in the spot reserved for handicapped/elderly/pregnant people on the subway as well. There’s a really unimpressed elderly woman beside him and treating your elders with respect is very important in Korea
We used to have that here in the USA but it was bred out of us by 60 years of sub culture engineering. Degeneration is an intentional act, the purpose of I can only imagine is to implement more control over the population because crime is up.
It’s hard to be disappointed in japan. They don’t understand sarcasm as a lot of people understand it. They can’t go and say johny lied in his apologies as that would invalidate the public apologies many people has done over the years. But the biggest problem of all, is that johny is popular and is always on livestream. Japan can’t do it’s usual tactic of guilty until proven innocent.
I don't think they will do anything. America has tremendous influence over nearly every country in the world. Even the police in South Korea were basically kissing his ass.
To be fair though when he did all this in japan he could still have been given the benefit of the doubt about the sincerity of his apology. Plus it’s kinda difficult to put the responsibility of dealing with him on just Japan and Korea alone when the majority of his supporters(the ones encouraging him to do this in the first place) seem to be American.
As an Arizonan born in Phoenix metro too, I can say his hometown will never welcome him back. This isn't how southwesterners act. he shouldn't think it'll go easier for him in america. this is the land of the for-profit prison. they have every incentive to keep him locked up for a long time. meanwhile, south korea doesn't want to waste its people's money feeding and housing the vermin so he'll probably just get a year and then be perma-banned.
@@dancinglight8411 what if someone was constantly yelling at your family members that they are gonna harm them? Would you not want them to face consequences for it? Preferably for them to be kept away from them and any other potential victims by locking him up?
The problem he’d have with being extradited to the US, even though we have an extradition treaty with them, is that countries don’t want to see criminals go unpunished. So, many people that commit crimes in other countries often only get released under the promise that they’ll go to court under similar charges in the US (friendly countries can be more lenient about this, or they could just want to get rid of a person without care of prosecution). But with Johnny, several of his crimes are Korea-specific (deepfake), or aimed at insulting Korea (the statues). While the US is good friends with SK, he probably could’ve gotten away with some of the small offenses, but given the large attention this has gotten, I doubt the SK government will agree to extradition. Just based on how targeted his antics were at disrupting Korean decency… So, I’m not an international lawyer, but I think he’s screwed. Unless people pester the consulate so bad to get him out on a technicality, but I doubt anyone wants to stick their neck out for him.

For those wondering why Johnny is not in prison, I suggest you watch Atozy's video with Legal Mindset. Anyway, in short, it's worse for Johnny: he can't escape from South Korea, then for the whole period of the trial and the period before, (it could take 12 months or more), he has to pay his rent, food and pay his lawyer's fees (for the lawyer he could pay 50 thousand dollars or more), also during this whole period, Johnny can't work. Basically, no matter how the trial goes, he will be left without money.

@@deltasaves That's what I was just thinking. It's all about how much money you make whatever platform it is. If it's someone that has almost no followers, they are practically censored into oblivion. You can't even share a political opinion without getting a ban if it's not the correct political opinion AKA left-wing political opinions. Like straight up KGB levels of censorship to lower earners. Meanwhile, streamers and social media influencers that have millions of followers get a very different and looser set of rules to play with. They can literally commit felonies on live stream and get nothing but a slap on the wrist from these corporations.. Because these corporations don't want to ban them and lose the revenue stream they are making off of them. So in the case of repeat offenders that don't ever get punished properly by these companies, I think the companies need to be held accountable. Until that happens we probably won't ever see this kind of thing stop.

As a Korean I can say, it's highly unlikely he will get 31 years in prison....and 11:28 this is more likely to be at the most sentence they can give to him. We have a broken justice system in Korea, and it's been an issue for quite a while the judge will drop most of this and i believe maybe 1~5 years? or they will give him a suspended sentence with a community service you have to be a hardcore criminal to get 31 years, unfortunately. Even the worst child molesters didn't get this much in Korea LOL
I'm not from Korea but I'm from Finland. In Finland, murderers don't even get that much prison time. Think about the fact that murder here usually gets you a prison sentence of approx. 13-15 years. The longest has been 20 years. And that is a "life" sentence. And next year, we will release someone who has already murdered 4 people. 3 people in the Mcdonalds drive-thru and had just gotten out of jail for manslaughter. And a serious drug offense is usually 10-13 years, and you serve half of that if you are a first-time offender. It wasn't related to the matter in any way, but I felt like telling it.
@@STCatchMeTRACjRoDepends on the meaning of broken. The Korean-American talking about shooting from rooftops wasn't making a gang reference, it's a reference to the "Rooftop Koreans" protecting their stores and homes during the Rodney King riots.
Of course. Who doesn't know that? 😮 Viewers or Atozy? I haven't finished watching yet.
Self defense. He can’t pull that shit back home. 😂

The world is rooting for you, South Korea. Please don't disappoint us like Japan did.
Every idiot that gave this loser money deserves a couple of decades in a prison as well.
I don't think they will do anything. America has tremendous influence over nearly every country in the world. Even the police in South Korea were basically kissing his ass.
He aint popular so much as infamous no one fuckin likes him
To be fair though when he did all this in japan he could still have been given the benefit of the doubt about the sincerity of his apology.
Right I should've known this was another clickbait 'news' channel with nothing new to add
It's been weeks and all the videos regarding Johnny are just parroting information we've already heard about over and over again with nothing new.
Just based on how targeted his antics were at disrupting Korean decency…
So, I’m not an international lawyer, but I think he’s screwed. Unless people pester the consulate so bad to get him out on a technicality, but I doubt anyone wants to stick their neck out for him.
The US embassy is most certainly not going to step in for this lowlife. He did the crimes, he recorded himself flaunting the law and being a public nuisance.

America saves South Korea from the Korean war. South Korea saves America from Johnny Somali. I think that's a fair exchange.
That's not really how the Korean war went.
I get what you meant but the Korean War is technically still going it’s under ceasefire lol but definitely need korea to buckle up and keep that man in prison. They have really lax prisons sentences sadly.

He is the epitome of “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”. 😂 Maybe he will make a new friend in prison. 🤔
The Korean government could create a GoFundMe to keep him in custody and probably receive enough donations to keep him for decades.
$1 donation = 1 more day in prison, and since the donations might not pay for the costs, make johnny pay everything out of his pocket or make him work and then pay the donations forward to cover damages for people affected from his bs. I feel like that would be fair.
The Korean government doesn't need to slum it with donations to keep this guy in prison. What a weird comment.

@@Drakengard82 That's what we are all waiting around to find out.
It’s not America; the government there doesn’t care about keeping the public happy; they care about keeping them safe. Letting someone like him go? Doesn’t bring safety. Korea has OVER a 95% conviction rate; and that’s for LOCALS. Also, in korea, prisoners are (legally) forced to do hard labor for the country; which would outweigh any cost to keep him there. Their court system is honestly corrupt; but it’ll work in our favor here.

If Johnny Somali gets away with this, then there will be WW3.
Korea would risk opening the floodgates for a lot of these types. So throw the book at this one and send that message.
I doubt he will, absolute best case scenario for him is that he gets deported directly to the US as that's where his citizenship is and no other country is required to let him in. So while many countries do have visas that can be granted on the spot, countries can typically deny entry for just about any reason even with a visa.

How do people get this stupid and narcissistic? I know he's from Arizona but this is insane even for Arizonians.
I am very familiar with the korean justice system and have seen foreigners punished numerous times. You all don't understand how fkkked he is. There is no way with all those charges that he won't get at least 10 years. Dont even expect them giving him a translator or he has to pay like $1000 per day for one. Its on that level. Hope he can pay tens of thousands of dollars in all the upcoming trials.
I really hope this is the case, then we won't have to hear about him for awhile
As someone who's been to jail multiple times, I'm usually pretty empathetic and don't like to see people locked up.

As a Korean I can say, it's highly unlikely he will get 31 years in prison....and 11:28 this is more likely to be at the most sentence they can give to him.
We have a broken justice system in Korea, and it's been an issue for quite a while
the judge will drop most of this and i believe maybe 1~5 years? or they will give him a suspended sentence with a community service
you have to be a hardcore criminal to get 31 years, unfortunately. Even the worst child molesters didn't get this much in Korea LOL
Because of international coverage and public pressure, do you think they will do something different?
Not so different here in the US.
It wasn't related to the matter in any way, but I felt like telling it.
well is there any country whose system isn't broken?
@@STCatchMeTRACjRoDepends on the meaning of broken. Most countries don’t have an ambition to lock people up for as long as possible, they want to find ways to deter people from committing crimes and make it so that those who do stop and are rehabilitated. Some countries have tried the route of very long prison sentences, but that haven’t been very successful, and the same goes for those that have tried extreme leniency.
