    THANK YOU for leaving in the comparison for us!
    You wouldn’t believe the difference without seeing it!
    Yes! The softer edge does give it a more playful look!
    I loved how the white embossed words popped on the blue, adding to the softer- more playful look!

    I love these! One of the reasons I so enjoy watching @SandyAllnock1 is because she's such a genius at contrast. Many artists I watch are good - very good - but the willingness to embrace contrast, even sometimes stark contrast, really elevates artwork from good to great. I always love your coloring but today's is so so good! ❤️🐱

    I learned something new today. I am amazed at how the horizon line makes the whole scene look. Just looks amazing.

    I love the second card. "Perfect" was my immediate reaction to it when you had finished it. The first one, though very nice, seems a bit chaotic, which, however would be appropriate if you were trying to convey a stormy rainy day. In fact, in the first card, you get the feeling that the umbrella is going to carry the little kitty away in the storm.

  • @coast2coastcards
    @coast2coastcards ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I love, love, love both of these cards
    I prefer the second. Like you said, not as dramatic. Also, your horizon line is more realistic. Adding the white drops behind and in front of the cat, really incorporate them into the scene. Using the angle-cut piece of cardstock for a guide is genius!!! ❤

  • @loriprince3342
    @loriprince3342 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Love the softer edge one, but also love how you drew the storm on the first one. I actually like the umbrella placement on the 1st one as it looks like kitty is battling the storm, but the sentiment doesn't "match".

    First of all, Sandy Allnock is amazing. She has the heart of a teacher. Second, I think my choice would be a hybrid of the two. I like the drama of the first card and the white lettering of the second. I’m so going to try that technique to make rain. (Umbrellas are one of my favorite motifs.)

    Thanks so much for doing 2 cards and incorporating what you learned from the 1st into the 2nd. It's inspiring and humbling to see this in a video from an extremely talented artist. It definitely provided a lot of encouragement to me in my card making. 😊💓🌈
    I struggle sometimes when I spend a lot of time on a new design/technique and the end result isn't up to my standards...I have a hard time restarting, feeling as if I wasted my time. A fellow artist friend of mine asked me if I learned something from the process and if the answer was yes, then it's never a waste of time.
    That really resonated with me.
    Thank you for providing a video that demonstrates the real-life creative process!
    I never knew that alcohol markers could be used on top of ink blending. That looks awesome!
    Thanks so much Kristina for bringing your amazing creativity, knowledge and happiness to the card making community, it really means a lot!! 😊💓

    I love the bright coat in the stormy card. It allows the cat to stand out. The saying is the only thing I would change for that card. Storms can come into all of our lives but an umbrella can be there to help. The puddle playing card is perfect. I'm glad you made that card so you were happy with getting onto paper the image that was in your mind. Very cool to see the outcome of the two cards and the process that changed a storm into fun.

    I really like both versions. I think my preference would change based on MY mood on a given day and who I was sending the card to. Thanks for leaving in both (or all three versions with the coloring you didn't like) and explaining your thought process.

  • @michellegamble6732

    They are both remarkable. On the first card with the way the umbrella is, it goes with the blustery scene. The second one with the umbrella upright makes it more fun and softer.

  • @leeminer1939
    @leeminer1939 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    SO SO interesting to hear you talk your way through it to come to the improvements and Yes I do prefer the second card. But I like the brighter yellow slicker in the first. I might have tried silver glitter pen on the white rain -- but maybe that would have wrecked it!

  • @karenperkins6744
    @karenperkins6744 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love both, they show different aspects of a rainy day, one more blustery than the other! (1st one) which could quite easily depict a rainy Autumnal day, where the 2nd looks more like a spring shower! Did love LOVE the blending of the inks before adding the texture, it gave a great base to work on. This has given me some great ideas for some of my work, so thank you so much for showing us both examples. BOTH work so well!!

    Growing up in Washington, the rainy days were never the same! Some days it was blustery and chaotic like the first card, other days it was more of a soft and gentle rain like the second card! I like the second one but still love the first one! Learned a lot from you Kristina! Thank you for sharing your skills and talent and those of other artists you pull inspiration from!❤

    i can't believe how you figured all of this out and kept trying to get it exactly how you wanted it. Thanks for the inspiration and for the chance to win that adorable set.

    I prefer the second card. The color strokes in the first card pull the attention away from the central figure and . . . diminish the kitty. Although a little longer, this video is not a chore to watch. Listening to you work through your design process, letting us see what you like or don’t like & why, and more importantly, persisting to perfect the card is valuable indeed! Thanks for sharing!

    I love them both. The first looks more like she’s in a rain storm and she’s holding in to her umbrella for dear life!! Like she’s going to blow away! The other one looks more playful. I think they are both fabulous. As always you do amazing work. Thanks. Take care ❤️

  • @katherinekelly5380

    I like the second card as it matches the greeting in playfulness - the first card is more dramatic - also with the umbrella being at an angle it seems as if the wind in going to tug it from the cat grasp 😄☔️

    As you stated in your video, both scenes are great. My favourite is the softer toned one, which is perfect for a normal rainy day. The first one does remind me of a storm so having the umbrella look like it might blow away is fantastic. Either one would be awesome for any recipient! 😊

    This is such an inspiring video! I love rain scenes and umbrellas, and these stamps are adorable! I actually liked the first version the most, but both are fantastic! And I learned so much from both techniques.
    Thank you for sharing this!

    I like them both, but I prefer the second. I've never tried making rain and raindrops, but I would be willing to give it a try after watching this. You are so talented!!

    I like the second one with the blending first and using the angled paper for consistency.

    I love these both! I think the 2nd I love a little more though... the ink blending is just the touch I think it needed! ♡

    While I like both, I much prefer the softer blend of the 2nd card. Fascinating and I learned a lot. Thanks!

    I like the second card. Rain drops are straighter and colors are softer. The first one is nice but kind of too dark. Thank you!

    Beautifully done. I think this is one of my favorite cards. Loved them both but the second one pops and is my favorite. 😊

    I love them both!!! I just slightly like the dark framed one a tiny bit more. Thank you!!! So good to see how you think about it when you make and color a card.
