There were lots of hold-ups coming out of Victoria due to engineering works and speed restrictions which made for uncomfortable riding. It was only when it got to East Croydon was Tangmere finally able to stretch its legs, but the timings were generous so there was little fast running. Considering Tangmere was pulling in excess of 500 tons, it took it in its stride. It was nice to have it back on its home territory, being allocated to Ramsgate at the beginning of its life and then Stewarts Lane until the Kent coast was electrified in 1959, when it moved to Salisbury. It was a nice journey, thankfully the autumn rains had disappeared for the day which made it more enjoyable to view the Surrey and Kent countryside!
Brilliant. From Penshurst, Teston, and Sole Street you got around a bit. Can remember years ago sitting on the Kettle field steps waiting for the Arrow to pass through when diverted down the Redhill Tonbridge line, while the Sevenoaks line was closed for maintenance . Talk about nostalgic. Thank you for sharing. All the best. Mick.
What a sight, all dressed up and taking us back to the 60s - well, those of us who can go back that far!!! Good to see her back and in fine fettle judging by the load and diesel just ticking over to keep the driver warm!! Some great captures and some new scenery👍👍👍
Thanks very much, Bob! Got very lucky with how the day panned out; all planned the night before via google maps, then going in blind and hoping for the best. Was fantastic to see the regalia on a Bulleid again.
That brought back memories of being dropped off at the bridge in Teston (pronounced Teeson) and having to run back to school in town, as our cross country PE lessons!
excellent shots 👍sadly i couldn't get to see it as i live on the east Kent coast and the nearest place to see it was paddock Wood or Rochester seeing there was no trains because of this rail strike 😟
Fantastic noise. Surprised the diesel wasn't doing much here, I was at Vic when it left and it was definitely going through the notches then. Could have been letting the Bulleid warm up, idk 🤷🏻♂️

Decent-sized train she's hauling there - 13 + 3 !!
Running well it appears - nice to see in action.

Omg! So much Pullman stock! Almost the Devon Belle, just needs an obs car and one of the brake compartment cars! Wow!

Absolutely FABulous with the arrows adorned. Thank you
Really does look the part. Cheers.
She looks splendid on Southern rails again, hopefully the first of many visits down south in the future!
Fingers crossed. Always nice to have a Bulleid on home turf.
Excellent background information and filming locations. Enjoyed thanks :)
Great choice of viewpoint and composition, star quality!
Great !!
Cheers

Saw this pass through yalding, been a good few many years since I saw a working steam train.
I saw her at Bickley, seemed to have slowed down near Bickley Junction but powered through with little assistance by the diesel
Nice video :)
Cheers

Load 13, decidedly poor railhead conditions, but even so the diesel wasn't assisting significantly; hats off 🎩 to the driver
Said diesel was assisting going up Sole Street bank quite a bit, but evidently had eased off by the summit near the station.

34067 Tangmere needs to stop using spare parts from 34073 249 Squadron because we need 34073 249 Squadron to be restored to running condition
