@@lynnkanable7023 - I know they are different. I’ve had a Ducati Diavel , a BMW GS & currently an XSR900 Yamaha. I’m looking for a touring machine. My options were Kawasaki 1000sx, FJR 1300 & now a KTM 1290 GT. My experience with the Diavel was superb, then came the GS much lighter but didn’t like it as much for high speeds ( over 200kmh) . Xsr900 is great for my local trips, will try touring on it once the pandemic is over. Need a reliable fuss free bike that’s easy with parts. Stable against cross winds . Thanks for helping me with my search. Currently it stands at FJR, Kawasaki & KTM. The first 2 bikes will be discontinued soon so I’m left with KTM for a brand new option. The other 2 on the second hand market. 🥸

Lovely bike but don't think it would give me anything that my 790 duke doesn't give me well not for an extra 10k anyway. So many good Mid range Naked bikes for sale sub 10K with more than enough power for that typed of bike. I just don't get wanting to put all that power into a naked bike and the 1290 is conservative compared to some. Would i have one definitely but wouldn't trade up from any of the good Mid Range bikes like the Triumph Street Triple Ducati Monster Or Ktm790/890
Couldn't help panicking every time you went near the bike in the 'fashion segment' at the end. Balancing a £700 quid helmet on the seat of the bike as your helmet storage 'strategy' is only ever going to end up one way eventually, "oops, oh no, help ,crash, damn it , shouldn't have left it there, bugger". Try the ground next time, sat on the gloves for protection. Helmets don't normally fall off 'the ground'. I learnt the hard way
Yeah, I have a feeling the popularity of PCP means manufacturers can raise the prices and the majority of "buyers" don't notice/mind/care as it's the monthly payments that matter to them....

do you have handlebars risers on this? can’t tell?
Nope...
The gloves are fantastic
Agreed!
Great looking bike. Enjoy
Thanks, will do!
Really need to get a test ride on one of these!
Can’t believe you called my super adventure ugly 🤣
Apologies - it's only my opinion.....
Enjoyed that Andy.
Glad you enjoyed it David - good to hear from you again!
@@TheMissendenFlyer been busy with no you tube time, trying to master final cut !!!
I like the 1290 but the GT for me, if I want crazy I need the practical version😜
It's just the looks of the GT I struggle with - though it's a lovely bike to ride and yes probably makes more practical sense than the SDR (if practical is your thing).....
Hello, Sir! I think it would be really interesting to review a 2nd gen Hayabusa, before the new model comes in. I know that it can be hard to find but your complete reviews and a comparison, at one moment in time, would be just great!
Hayabusa dead and gone. Lovely bike and fantastic engine but “lived too long” they should have updated it and kept it in the market .New model, lots of rumours but....
Great vid but where possible can you give a pillion viewpoint where possible.
Indeed I will - where possible (it wasn't possible on this one)....
Please help 🙏🏼 Super Duke GT or FJR 1300 . Please help me decide. Which would you go for?
I’d go for the FJR personally.....but that’s just me...
Completely different bikes....the fjr is a tourer. I have a 2020 sdgt and it’s really a sports tourer..a comfy SDR with a bigger tank. The sdgt is a proper fun fast bike ....and handles like one and goes like stink. I have ridden the fjr and it’s not even close in the fun stakes...practical tourer..just boring af.
Not the same kind of bikes, one hooligan the other touring
Cracking bike there Andy good review look forward to the next one the Oxford gear looks 👍 I like the Arai I have a cheaper model of course I luv it but side vision is an issue for me at junctions. The supper dukes is one I’d luv to have . What are the service costs like .Great vid cheers : )
I don't know about servicing costs Malcolm, I don't imagine it would be too much different to any other big twin.....
Is the Streetfighter V4S worth the extra 4/5 grand ??
My reviews of that bike coming soon - stay tuned to find out how I thought the two bikes compared!
Thanks for the review, agree with everything you say. Have one, my 4th SD-R and 6th 1290.
I *really* appreciate you keeping the speedo out of your camera view, hugely sensible and all of your comrades are failing in this respect, which is distracting and...silly.
Glad we concur!
Cheers TMF, off topic ,now your channel has blosomed from humble beginings, what' s the crack with insurance, yours , dealers/ manufacturers?
It’s still a complete pain in the arse!!! I was thinking of doing an “insurance it’s pants” part 2 as I e had so much trouble with it of late....
That’s strange, I too ride my KTM one handed.... it just feels good and easy when slowly tipping behind cars. Maybe it’s so we can grab our wallets quickly... they do call the ATMs after all!! I love it though, best bike in my world. 👍. Keep up the good work TMF.
Thank you - will do!
Not my kind of bike but really enjoyed the blog. Look forward to the next one
Glad you enjoyed it Paul - thanks for watching!
hypothetically speaking if one was on a a2 licence how would you tell if thier bike was restricted if its a ecu?
Using a Vulcan mind meld??
Yes, the alien head light scares everyone........LOL........Sal : )
You weren’t kidding when you said this is expensive kit. I know, protective safety gear really is always worth it if the bad does happen. That KTM is a looker, very likely way too fast for this rider. Cheers TMF 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
Too fast for me that's for sure.....
You should make a Hoodie with a white van silhouette on it. Your real fans will get it.
Funnily enough I have been thinking of doing just that, just having trouble getting a suitable design made at a reasonable cost....
Really like the look of the Superduke need to see the Ducati street fighter v4
Stay tuned - that's my next bike....
You need not hold the starter button down on KTMs. Just press and release...
Sunglasses and a tinted visor?
Yup.....
Great Video... bit of a gas guzzler by the sounds of it however a rapid and fun bike to ride 👍
I get 35-40 miles per gallon. Try a Tuono at maybe 28-or as Streetfighter V4 at 25. I hated filling my Tuono up every local ride even.
@@tomtraynor5384 That’s not too bad to be fair, cracking bikes 👌
Nice bike, bit too much for my needs like the £800 helmet. Wouldn't perch it on the seat like that! Cheers.
Fair enough!
Still eager to see the RE Intercepter reveal.
Me too!! Not sure how this current lockdown will effect/delay things.....
Think you’d have trouble touring on it TMF! Fuel economy and tank capacity taken into consideration!....
Apart from that, love it👍🏽
Fair enough!
Liking the look of the switchgear too👌🏽
Quite entertaining. Don't hold back about the bikes you don't like!
Sadly I don't think you did a walk around this time to show off the looks of this bike?
How about your snazzy socks?
Many thanks.
Check out last week's first impressions review for the walk around Alex th-cam.com/video/Hk73CLoQPsU/w-d-xo.html
@@TheMissendenFlyer Yes I know, but would have been nice to have been able to drool with you at the bike again in this video ;@)
Did like your snazzy socks too. Are they biker socks? As nice as the other items clearly are, helmet and jacket, they are sadly a bit out of my budget.
Bring on care free warm summer days again asap!
You may like the 390Duke since it’s styled like the SuperDuke :)
I do - I love it!
This could really set up well for a review of the KTM 890 R *hint hint*
Andy - I'm thinking that some van reviews are called for...
Don't think I haven't thought of that! The irony is that I'd actually rather like a van of my own!!
TheMissendenFlyer Me too. There is something vaguely ‘heroic’ about driving a van. I blame the 1970s Yorkie bar adverts...
Enjoyed the video and the bike is good as long as you are on it, not looking at it!!
I think the SDR looks cool!
You didn't want to stop at chequers 😂
Funnily enough, not this time!
I learnt the hard way
I knew that would cause some issues! Sorry Gordon!!
Wonder when KTM will bring out a V4 road bike, like the Moto GP one 😆. ?.
🤔😳 may have to test ride one one day just for the experience. 🤓😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦
You should!
Where is this place
South Buckinghamshire in England....
@@TheMissendenFlyer does the 1200 explorer heat a lot compared to other adv tourers
That matte blue is BITCHIN. I'd love to see the whole bike in that color, with the orange wheels.
I think they used that blue to make the orange pop even more.
@@DanTube2010 it worked 😍
“Me Tarzan”.... 0:29
Flogging Merch...now your a legit You Tuber.
Who would have thought it eh?
Great bike, shame about the price, would love to own one but, paying close to 18k for a motorcycle is a little insane and out of reach.
Yeah, I have a feeling the popularity of PCP means manufacturers can raise the prices and the majority of "buyers" don't notice/mind/care as it's the monthly payments that matter to them....
re 0:27 , is that a Tarzan holler ? :-D
if you've been wearing those shoes for two years, your socks must be in a right state. Another great review by the way. I've subscribed now.
Welcome along Mark!
