best tip I ever got was to have a mini whiteboard in my van, I write down what I use from the van to remember and replace it, I check it before I head to the merchants. Saved me loads of time.
I like that idea. I’ve tried lots of things to record parts for replenishment - shopping list apps, notes app on the phone, note book and pen, work log diary, diary app on phone…. At the end of the day they all rely on me having time and remembering to do it each time, which is the weak link!
I like your intro, its how you do things. It doesn't spoil anything, if anything, it makes me sit my arse down with a cuppa and watch more vlogs from before i subscribed to the channel.
Nothing wrong with having the intro as it adds to the interaction you create with us audience. You could even add the odd outros or even bloopers, if you have them, to keep people on their toes. Make sure people watch all the way to the end.
Top class Sir. No bodging with MJTIFF plumbing. Attention to detail, using paste on compression fittings, even the van cab looked tidy! How many plumbers can say that. Peace be unto you.
Yes understand why some do not like long chat at the start to be honest i normally fasr forward anyway ,and that bit about the nuts feeling right so glad you said that ,thats years of experience coming to play ,well done loved it .
Great video. As for intros like both but must admit the one at end explaining what went on or even out comes of jobs is great. But hey like it all. Well done. Another few biscuits and tea done lol
Hi Mark. That always happens mate. I said in one of other comments that I take all my tools out at night. But when I load the van in the morning and get there and realise I left it at home. Not to much off a problem if near home, but pain if not. Again you went the extra mile buy changing drain plugs. Have a good weekend mate👍
Remember using the Sunvic motor open motor close valve as one of the first ones in the late 60's them moved on to Tower/ACL then Honeywell. My favorite was always the Smiths Midi valve connected through a Potterton Mini minder as when the hot water light was on when the programmer was in an off position you knew you had a tank of hot water. Another good one Mark and yes you can not beat Tom Dudley,
Being completely honest with you mark, I skip the intro bit the "spoilers" so to speak then watch it at the end Cause I like to see it as it comes and how I'd deal with it to see if there's any differences in our way of working You stick to whatever way works for you regarding the video layout "intro, outro etc" I learned to just skip over it I'm sure others can do the same too if it bothers them that much? Anyways, those TD look better than the PoS one's I installed a while back so may have to give them a go again tbh You're a brave man using the honeywell again, but keep us updated on that one! 🤞all is well with it though, for you and the customer
Hi Mark, Great video, for future reference 99.9% of valves have the same colour wires. Get yourself a inline 5 way connector (made by Regin). That way you can cut the wire without going in the wiring centre and just wire your new valve to that. Makes it easier to replace in future as well! ✌🏻
Yer for sure, if its a proper wiring centre. The worst ones are the double dry lining boxes on the new builds with a rats hiding in there! 😂 #realworldplumbing
Honeywell motorised valves have been of shocking quality for sometime I started end of 1979😂 Honeywell valves were then made in Canada. Now there made in the EU and am constantly finding the motors failing far too quickly. I've stayed with them but they need to own up about the issues there having. Honeywell do a compatibility chart at the back of their wiring booklets which should give you even all the old makes. Sunvic. Satchwell etc. If you hunt around there's a manufacturer called Tower. They do the best compatibility chart any engineer could want👌 Nice video love these jobs, but maybe not the jarred drain offs 😂💦👍
My missus said I watched this whole video like a zombie with my mouth open haha. I dunno why but I always enjoy the videos with leaks and toilet repairs more than the heating stuff
Nice content bud, not bothered about the intro/ outro do what’s best for you. Had a similar situation to you this week, took everything out of the van Sunday for a sort out, Monday morning it took hours getting to the job. Got on site and realised I’d left my van at home!🤪
Hi Mark just a quick question regarding that plate at the bottom of the toilet cistern, as it,s flat and you can't get a bolt behind it i,m wondering where and how could you use them.
Hi Mark, great film as always, I always enjoy the small jobbing about films. The Thomas Dudley products do look quality, I don’t think I’ve used any yet but would love to try some. I do like the into as I know what to look forward to in the film. Have a great week, as always, take care, regards, Chris. 👍👍👍
Happy new year to you and family Mark. Great video. Great tip on the multi tool for rusted close coupled bolts beats using a hacksaw blade which is a nightmare. Motorised valves is something that’s always eluded me for some reason. Should you change the motor or the whole valve. I assume it’s good practise to fit valves either side of them so you don’t have to drain the system but I suppose you don’t always get the space to do that. Keep up the solid work Mark.
Great video as always. Maybe give the new format a few goes to see how it beds in, and just have a very quick summary (This week, I ha' bin mostly...") to kick things off at the start. You may have covered this before (I'm still catching up) but how do you as a sole trader block out your time from week to week and month to month between the larger projects and the smaller jobs? And after twenty-odd years do you reach a point where you decide to just do the nice stuff? ... unless it's a mate, of course!
Thanks mate, yer I always try and fill the diary with a bit of an easy run after doing a bigger job, we all need a bit of an easy day from time to time
I actually like the outro, in the sense a bit of a roundup and discussion on what happened on the vid. Maybe you could also do a shorter intro just to give a brief overview of what's coming up?
I have had 4 of these fail changed finally changed for a screw fix valve as they always failed the same , water leaking into the back of the valve and corrodes the electrics inside . first one failed after 2 weeks back in 2008 in a new build
Hi, I quite liked the round up at the end of the video. Wasn't against the intro but why not change it from video to video, keep the haters guessing!! Lol. Keep up the good work.
Evening Mark. Intro or outro doesn't bother me mate I'm easy. It's your content so whatever works best for you whilst your putting it together? You can't please everyone! 😂 As for Honeywell, be interesting to see if that 2-port lasts until your next intro lol 😉🤣

Picked one up £15 just a whole lot easier to carry and re toilets at least you don’t have to fill your wet vac with, quite literally sh”””y water. Only a thought, tried one?? Best regards Simon

What’s up mark! Went and got myself a unilite neck torch after seeing it in your video the other week! Been spot on 👌🏻
Good ain’t they😉😉
Hi Mark I allways use plug and socket on those valves you don’t need to go into the wiring centre much better 👍
Yep I usually do , just wanted to check to see if it would work ok
Hi Mark just a quick question regarding that plate at the bottom of the toilet cistern, as it,s flat and you can't get a bolt behind it i,m wondering where and how could you use them.
Sometimes the cisterns were moulded with a little dent in them for that…. Very rare but they are about

Thanks mate, if the actual body of the valve is ok then a motor will be fine…. It’s if the body is knackered it has to be changed
hello, great video how long does it take you to change an inlet and syphon on average?
Usually around 45mins as long as the bolts come off ok
Great video as always. Maybe give the new format a few goes to see how it beds in, and just have a very quick summary (This week, I ha' bin mostly...") to kick things off at the start. I like the intros mate, sets the scene! Folks can always fast forward intros 😬
Thanks buddy….. yep I think I prefer it at the start
Great video Mark, out of interest how long did you spend of the toilet siphon? Looking forward to your 2023 videos!

Hahaha keep the haters guessing🤣🤣
Honestly mate, the video flows much better with you doing the intro
This felt a bit random and disjointed but still enjoyed
Happy new year
Thanks for the feedback mate
I like way you have been doing them
Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
Don't think danfoss honeywelll same thread ye can try force them sometimes always prefer to change nuts
Nope always change the nuts…..😉👍🏼
Is that slictite paste you're using
It’s Plumb blue paste mate
@@MJTiffPlumbing cheers! I've been using slictite but a bit wary of it cos don't think it's meant to be used on potable
Top job once again. Prefer the outro😊

What’s your issue with it buddy???
Enjoyed the content😁👍
Thanks mate
I normally convert the toilet syphon to a push button
Wouldn’t do that to a cistern like this with a handle buddy…
Ohhhh Mark. Can you do a vid re your camera gear for TH-cam please. Cheers
Yer I should do really 👍🏼👍🏼
Your videos are fine as they are
I had a problem with a mcalpine clicker bath waste, I don't mind paying double if the quality is there but this fucking thing didn't seem tight, its probably me but 40 years says it was a call back

Nice thick rubber that Marc not the sponge these lesser plumbers use 😂
🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼
Intro for me, like to know with what’s going on.
Thanks mate, yer I think I prefer it at the start
Ditch the honeywell , use eph
Go back a few months and see just what happened with 2 HoneyWell valves and you will see why I had a honeywell one for this job…
Intro 👍
👍🏼👍🏼🙌🏼
great video can I pick your brains we had a new shower try fitted but water goes away slow whats the answer fast flow drain or take the cup thats in it away
Could be a backfalling pipe issue or a blockage if some sort

Yep there is always various ways to do the same job… whatever works for you👍🏼👍🏼
If you fitted an eph you wouldnt of had to change nuts. Saves you on the OV's lol
As said in previous videos I usually do for EPH as I had an issue with HoneyWell, however gave them a chance and all is well…
Changing the nuts took all of 20seconds so wasn’t an issue
Indeed….. so the customer got the saving
