Nice Tony, I had such a headache trying to sort out mine with no success, mainly because my b&m is dead lol, in the end I just got a bluetooth FM transmitter, worked well tho

I just changed the standard radio, put in a 2din head unit with screen. Same year car bought a complete kit from eBay including the dash panel. Took me about 2 hours to fit much better.
That’s where I want to be. Just a case of saving up. This provided me with a cheap fix for the interim period. You’re right though and I agree. Thanks for watching. 👍

As I’m new to owning a Giulietta like you i was seriously scratching my head trying to find a way to get my iPhone 11 to play audio though the car radio, then after a lot of research and looking on a lot of different forums I found a Genuine Blue and me USB adapter that plugs directly into the glovebox usb socket and your iPhone lead then plugs into that and bingo!!! You can play audio from your phone sorted with a lot less hassle and keeping all the original features, the only draw back is sadly to have to plug in your lead every time you want to use it, I appreciate this doesn’t suit everybody but I can live with it.

Hi Nathan. I got it from Amazon. The description of it was "Car Bluetooth Audio Adapter, Bluetooth Audio Adapter Radio Stereo Accessories Fit for Alfa Romeo Mito/Giulietta/Brera" & it was from the Qiilu store. It was only about £6 but looks to have gone to about £16... To be honest, i'd consider looking around as i'm sure you'll get it cheaper. Quite a few people have commented that they bought a more expensive adapter from elsewhere for about £30 which was plug & play, but i've not been able to find one.

I must have been lucky because the blue music adapter I purchased from amazon was just plugged into the back of the stereo where you plugged into. And all I had to do was link my phone up via Bluetooth and press the media button till it ready cd changer. Hey presto it works a treat. And I still have the ability to use my USB stick and I can make and receive calls and use all the steering controls even to skips tracks from Spotify. Best £30 I've spent on the car.
But can you also still play CDs?

Fortunately I have a new radioplayer with NAV and Uconnect system. It's not the same as a android auto but there is no problem with communication between smartphone and this audio unit.
Hello Tony! I think the last part with the format was unnecessary b/c you will receive bluetooth audio as long as something is internally playing in the Blue&Me unit. You left one single file so after it plays it stops so automatically it won't monitor your bluetooth audio. I really apreciate your effort, I am subscribed to your channel but if I were you I would have left if like before. Now you also lost AUX input besides USB input. If it doesn't really matters to you then that's ok but you've really put an effort into this one :))) cheers from Romania

Hi Dan. No real recommendations but remember the rubber is the only thing that keeps you on the road. With winter coming in, you might want to consider an all weather tyre?
Hi Tony, one question I have is what if you connect actually this Bluetooth adapter just between the USB port to the blue&me module? In order to just bypass the USB connectivity? Would it work then in case of a phone call? Also I have seen on Amazon that there's a new model of this adapter here which has also a call compatibility via Bluetooth, would it work with the type of connection you made?
Hi Salvo. The one I used provides an audio output as opposed to a data signal, so connecting it to the USB element would not work. There are definitely some better products on the market and the more you pay you’re more likely to get a better solution. Mine was cheap and as a result you’ve seen the effort I had with it. Thanks for the video, very instructive. Have you tried adding a microphone for taking calls? My set had a mice but my husband couldn’t plug it. Would you have any advise on that?
Hi Aleksandra. I haven’t tried a mic, no. Other than plugging it in to the phone itself I’m not sure how else you’d connect one. An actual mobile kit may be easiest but a different thing altogether over a Bluetooth adapter. Sorry I can’t help more. All the best 👍

My blue and me had failed and has been taken out, I got this adapter but no blue and me so I guess the USB won't make mine work without the blue and me, is that correct. I may have a go at weekend and see what I can do... I didn't know I had to press the media button to change modes. Great video Tony.. I will let U know how I get on as also my adapter had a phone microphone for hands free calls..
Hi AViT. If it’s the same as mine, then yes, it needed the USB stick with at least one file on it to make it play. Yeah my B&M unit has the mic too, so it is a shame to have lost it, but no one ever calls me anyway 😂 so music was more important to me.

Is the 63 plate giulietta different because as long as my iPhone is plugged in to the USB port via a lightning cable I can play my full iTunes library through the blue & me
Yeah, in the early versions like mine, the USB will only read files on a stick. I have tried everything from iPhones to android and other solutions. Alfa recognised this and changed it in the later models. Thanks Jon for watching. 👍

I have wondered how come your Giulietta doesn't have an AUX input though it is the same reg and year as mine. But Ive got 1.4tb jan 2012 but 61 on reg. I have watched this video and thought if I want to do it too but as long as I do have an AUX I am really not into it. Touchscreen radio upgrade might be essential 😉

I can not find any info about how to do this in my car. i have a different radio unit with no screen and a navi sys, no aux just a usb port. Anything i can do to get a Bluetooth adaptor hooked to my radio?
Hi. The easiest option would be to get one that plugs in to the lighter socket and transmits on FM. Plenty available on Amazon or eBay.

Hi, probably not is the quick answer. You may be able to change the configuration of the radio connecting to it through the OBD port with the right software. Another option could be to use a FM transmitter device that connects to your phone over Bluetooth and then transmits to your radio over FM signal. They just plug in to the 12v outlet. Recently my blue & me module died in my giulietta (what a surprise). I am looking for a decent fix without spending to much money on a new one with risk of dying again.
I have usb and aux in the glovebox but neither are working. Does this mean I won’t be able to use this fix? Like you did. Btw I have one with the screen in the car

Hi Ivan. Yes, if your B&M unit has packed up, then your usb and Aux inputs won’t work. Sounds like you’ll either need to replace it (maybe check if someone is breaking a Giulietta of the same spec, but you’ll need to perform proxi alignment) or look to replace the whole set up with an alternate double din unit.

@@vialettotony Tony having been intrigued by this video last year. I saw the bluemusic product was back in stock that works. So I bought it for my birthday. When I took my radio out I found my blue existing cable I was replacing had loads of active wires in it while yours didn't. I then saw that my radio in 62plate veloce was the one bosch 940 mp3 plus aux2+ while the one you were working on was the earlier low plus version with no wires in it or less.
So haven't fitted my Bluetooth adapter yet as was toying with sending it back and had to check if I removed it with seller it wouldn't the need a radio code. Was told it wouldn't be seller. So may change it now. I tested the aux cable finding it in glove box today and plugging into my phone while on a trip and listened to internet radio instead. It worked well.
So having thought about it for a week think I'm going to fit it anyway at least to try it anyway. Can always sell it later and plug aux back in if I chose to not use it.

Use it everyday since 1 year..... In fact you have 2 version of the adapter. One which need to cut the b&m cable like you did and another one which is totally plug and play (i bought the same like you first but not cutting the cable). I bought the second one which is p&p and install it....
Same, I've got the plug and play and it works perfectly, the only thing you lose the CD player but it's ok for me

I think it depends which adapter you have. The blue music adapter I purchased via amazon was plug and play. And it works flawlessly. Once connected to the back of the stereo where Tony did. You just connect Bluetooth on your phone to blue music, press the media button till it reads cd changer on the head unit, and that's it. You can send and receive calls and I use Spotify and you can use all steering controls to adjust volume and skip tracks. It's the best option if you don't want to spend £500 plus on your stereo. Well worth the £30 I spent.
And you still have the use of the cd player.

Well, I've got a problem with my installation. I tried to install the adapter today, but first, there was no other cable in it (I only have a CD player in my Giulietta), and second, when my smartphone is connected to the adapter, there's a quite annoying beeping noise and the sound comes only from the driver's speaker. It would be great if you could help me.
Hi ArioHD. Were you able to plug your adapter straight in then without any soldering? I know a lot of people have commented that there is a more expensive adapter available which means you don't have to mess around. If you're able to connect to the adapter that's good. Are you able to select it too, from the inputs? If the radio is recognising it but only buzzing from one speaker, it sounds like it could be a faulty adapter, or the radio isn't configured to accept it. A difficult one to comment on as there are a lot of variables.

Hi. Do you have the option of connecting to the USB or Aux in the stereo and does it work? if not then it sounds like the B&M unit is faulty. To stop it flashing if its faulty and you dont want to fix it, you need to use the diagnostic software and perform a "Proxi-alignment". Hope that helps. All the best👍

Just plug a Bluetooth adapter directly into the aux port in the glove box for Bluetooth phone audio.

Hi Milad. Sorry to hear that. It is possible to get a new Blue and Me unit which could be an option. The Bluetooth adapter I used was poor quality. Apparently there are others available for £35 ish, that work well by just plugging them in. In my experience though, the spec of the individual car depends on if it will work or not. If you can source one from online, you may be able to send it back if it doesn’t work…

I need your expertly on this issues please,I have Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2013. Recently purchased USB music transmitter adapter on eBay to enable me playing music via Bluetooth on my phone when I plugged in the adapter it works for 2mins then stopped and when I removed the USB adapter then find out that blue-me , USB port, voice control stopped working also mileage flashing.
This car is driving me crazy cos I have spend over 1200£ since I bought this car June last year

I know with mine, the USB provides very little power and does not support charging for a phone. It’s only an input and can’t power things. A flashing mileage points to a fault on the CAN bus , which is most likely the B&M unit from what you have explained. Normally this error means they have failed, which if your system is the same as mine, trying to power something from it could have made it fail.
Definitely worth connecting a diagnostic reader to the car to see if it confirms this.

@@MrAbbeyisa as I understand it, you’d need to remove the B&M unit from the cars programming by disconnecting it and performing a Proxi-Alignment. That means you’d lose all connectivity to it though, including phone calls etc.

@@MrAbbeyisa the B&M module acts as an interface between the USB, Aux input (if you have one) and the radio. It also provides the connection to the telephone Bluetooth. As the module sits on the cars “CAN bus” line, it is able to automatically switch the radio to the B&M audio input when a phone call is made/received. It also provides the information shown on the dashboard like your contacts.
It is possible to replace the units when the go faulty, but you have to have the exact model No. etc for it to work. Once installed it then has to be paired with the car by performing a Proxi Alignment.
Because of this, many people choose to upgrade their radios to after market devices with all the Bluetooth functions already built in.

I bought bt-adapter ugreen and my friend buried it into Bosch-head. Adapter is connected to the input of the built-in amplifier directly with resistors to decrease signal for 11 times. Power supply is taken within too. I can listen to the streaming music through the turned off head - turning on is no needed at all. Operations with music can be made from iphone only. Blue’n’me is a piece of shit!)))) My iphones doesn’t work since ios11 was installed.

Non ne ho uno, solo un iphone. spesso le persone collegano i dispositivi alla porta Aux nel vano portaoggetti che consente di riprodurre musica attraverso la radio senza un adattatore Bluetooth aggiuntivo. la mia auto non ha una porta Aux, solo una porta USB, che non riconosce il mio telefono come dispositivo multimediale. questo è solo per le chiavette USB. per poter riprodurre musica dal mio telefono, avevo bisogno di un'altra connessione, quindi ho scelto il bluetooth. That sure looks like a lot of effort to get this working. I was under the impression that these adapters actually send sound to the stereo on the "CD changer" option when there isn't a CD in the changer.
I have a Logitech bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter powered by the USB in the glovebox. It's pretty simple, turns off and on with the USB power. It was expensive for what it was - about £30 which is more than some Bluetooth speakers. That said, it required basically no work to install, just plugging it in, and I can repurpose it for my HiFi when move on to a different car.
in a lot of the 2011 and older Giuliettas there isn't an aux port, just a usb port, so that wouldn't work in those models sadly
Hi Piers. As Louis said, there is. I Aux port in the early models including mine, and the USB doesn’t provide power either only reads files, so all round there’s no option for that unfortunately. Would have been nice though. This provided a cheap interim fix until I can afford something a little more “ideal” shall we say 😉😂👍. Thanks for watching. All the best.
all you need is a bluemusic adapter (with or without mic). The procedure is the same but no wire cutting is needed. All plug'n'play
Went with the same solution as you, just with an even more expensive adapter (a FiiO BTA30, cost me about £100). Totally worth it IMO, the sound quality is very good as far as my untrained ears can hear, and I didn't have to spend way more money to replace the stereo with an aftermarket unit.
So without the USB stick it's not working??
Hi Valentin. Yes that’s what I experienced. As the radio unit still talks to the Blue & Me unit via the canbus it won’t let you select that as an option if it doesn’t see the stick. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. All the best 👍
