Oh goodness, I felt for you both at the end, girls! We all get passages like that. Hopefully we will all have a few more of the warm, sunny, flat seas with 16 knot type days this year! All the best from Salcombe. James

I think it was the first time we _really_ understand that sailboats and schedules should never meet. It did take a few more goes before the lesson actually sunk in 😄 Like you we are indeed hoping for a decent summer and some pleasant sailing

A great trip down memory lane.
I love sailing at night, a year or so ago we sailed from. Gibraltar to the Canaries and on the second night we were about 150 miles from the coast of Afrika. On my shift the moon set and it was blood red due to the Sahara dust, a sight I'll never forget.

There are definitely magical moments at sea the like of which never seem to happen on land. I think it is because the view is so clear in all directions whereas on land something is always getting in the way.

@@SailingYachtSaltyLass Absolutely spot. on. Also there is no light pollution so you can see every star in the milky way. I love star gazing.

Likewise. If I could fit my 10" reflector aboard...

Another enjoyable watch I always meant to do that race when I was in Liverpool, but never got around to it, so thanks for taking me with you in this video. 👍

If only there had been some wind. It was dead calm, but it was still an interesting experience to do it even as the "Luggage Train"....

After they visited us, we could tell that they REALLY wanted a Bavaria (especially after seeing us manoeuver astern 😄😄😄😄)

My boat made it into your video @ 12.24. Looked shinier then than it does now....
Was berthed at Whitehaven but now in Maryport a few miles up the coast, worth a visit next time you are over this way.

That was a long hard trip back, you looked absolutely knackered. Were they charging to open the lock at that time of the morning? I seemed to remember between 0000h and 0700h there was a substantial charge for entering or exiting.

They did not charge us because the lock keeper popped down and opened it for us (we had his home phone number), but it was a long hard trip back. These days with the better camera setups we would have captured some of the bad weather footage too.
