- Have you ever wondered they Pokemon are named what they are? What are the Pokemon name origins? All 721 of them even. Some are easy, like Charmander, it's "Charred Salamander," duh. But some are more tricky, Lucario? Zekrom? So lets go over them all, I'm sure you'll learn a lot.

I think the definition of "garde" in Gardevoir's name is actually "keep" rather than "guard", making Gardevoir translate roughly to "keep in sight" since it is based off of a dancer.

I think Venusaur is from Venus fly trap, not Venus the goddess since Venus isn't the goddess of vegetation, she's the Roman goddess of love/beauty/sex/etc.
Also, for fennekin the "-kin" could be short for kindling, which is wood that you use to make a fire
Kindle means a spark of fire, therefore the name fennekin(fox + Kindle)
According to ancient.eu Venus was also the goddess of fertility which to some degree can also refer to the vegetation. Fertile land and some - at least from what I know about english not especially the gods of roman/greek mythology.

Actually 'plume' is usually used in reference to smoke or a gas coming out of something, which makes even more sense for Vileplume. It can produce a plume of vile smoke or gas.

ATAG Chozo I agree. It definitely looks like it should be an evolution (especially considering the shape on top of its head). Many of the generation 5 designs look like they were supposed to be evolutions or pre-evolutions of previous Pokemon, but that the idea was scrapped when they decided to make Unova independent of previous generations (probably for the sake of the anime reboot).
ATAG Chozo And Alomamola should have been a Luvdisc Evolution. but yeah, Sigilyph is based on the Hummingbird Nazca Line Design wise, and since the Nazcalines are Geoglyphs, the fit will as an evolution to the Unown, which are based on Hieroglyphs.

i think that for "gardevoir" it could also be "garde" and "devoir" which is the french word for duty, as it is described in the pokedex as a very loyal pokemon which prioritize the safety of it's master than of it's own
