Here's what CS Lewis really said about this very topic: We begin to notice, besides our particular sinful acts, our sinfulness; begin to be alarmed not only about what we do, but about what we are. This may sound rather difficult, so I will try to make it clear from my own case. When I come to my evening prayers and try to reckon up the sins of the day, nine times out of ten the most obvious one is some sin against charity; I have sulked or snapped or sneered or snubbed or stormed. And the excuse that immediately springs to my mind is that the provocation was so sudden and unexpected; I was caught off my guard, I had not time to collect myself. Now that may be an extenuating circumstance as regards those particular acts: they would obviously be worse if they had been deliberate and premeditated. On the other hand, surely what a man does when he is taken off his guard is the best evidence for what sort of a man he is. If there are rats in a cellar you are most likely to see them if you go in very suddenly. But the suddenness does not create the rats: it only prevents them from hiding. Apparently the rats of resentment and vindictiveness are always there in the cellar of my soul. Now that cellar is out of reach of my conscious will. I can to some extent control my acts: I have no direct control over my temperament. And if what we are matters even more than what we do-if, indeed, what we do matters chiefly as evidence of what we are-then it follows that the change which I most need to undergo is a change that my own direct, voluntary efforts cannot bring about. And this applies to my good actions too. How many of them were done for the right motive? How many for fear of public opinion, or a desire to show off? How many from a sort of obstinacy or sense of superiority which, in different circumstances, might equally have led to some very bad act? But I cannot, by direct moral effort, give myself new motives. After the first few steps in the Christian life we realize that everything which really needs to be done in our souls can be done only by God.
To all who are struggling and in pain-I pray that you find a warm comfort and clarity in your journey. May peace embrace you fully, and may your doubts and fears be replaced with a deep sense of hope and faith. Amen.
I was raised in a home of very emotionally dis regulated parents. As I grew into adulthood, I had the same emotional, negative, chaotic response to small annoyances. Then one day I dropped my suitcases on the top of our stairs, as I was entering into a vortex of anger and stress about packing, and said out loud, “I have a choice! It doesn’t really matter when we get there and these emotions are not helping anyone!” In that moment I chose my response and remained calm. After years and years of continual commitment and practice, I am grateful for the peace have obtained most of the time. But…it was help considerably by my faith: prayer, Bible verses, confession, and an unwavering belief that I am inherently loved by God, without that underpinning I would not have succeeded.

Lewis does state that if an unexpected guest arrives then pretend to be pleased to see them. After a while you will find that you are enjoying the situation. So this is an extraplation of that teaching.
When you hear things like “twenty four slash seven” you begin to realize it’s text-to-speech in an AI generated voice that’s been trained on CS Lewis audio.

I don’t recall reading this from Lewis. This channel ought not place his name on something he never said. WARNING!! If this channel doesn’t site the source, don’t trust it. AI garbage and cheap tricks for views. If you like this, read his real work these videos are dirty rags in comparison.
Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt? The above is very true, but we must keep our focus on Jesus and away from the storms in our lives
Whether this is CS Lewis, or not, it is excellent information. Life is very stressful these days and this is a good way to handle it. I believe, though that our resilience doesn’t just come from self, but a higher power.
Well, the fact that 20 + different channels have now hijacked C.S. Lewis's good name and reputation and have just used AI to generate words C.S. Lewis never said, "No, it's not good information!" I'm sure we have the Russians or Chinese to blame for these horrible video farms that TH-cam subsidies! And if you don't know what a video farm is, look up the term, and you'll find it on TH-cam.
I'm not sure how this technique can work in my situation.... Wife has had cancer 3 times. Father died 8 months ago. Daughter diagnosed with cancer 4 months ago and facing at least a year of treatments and surgeries for her to have a chance to survive. Mom has dimentia and I'm the only one who can care for her, manage her finances etc. I feel the years and stress catching up with me. Physical pains of aging setting in. Losing the ability to do the things I used to do. Losing the ability to be functional. Losing my once sharp mind and becoming forgetful and cloudy. Facing losing a very good and high paying job with no time or energy left to find another. I delay going to bed at night because i dread the next crisis tomorrow always brings. No time for recreation or anything I can enjoy. Watching my country's future get destroyed by corruption and pervertion. It's impossible to control this stress.
Breathe. Center yourself. I'm sorry about your family members, but understand Christ is looking over them. Stay strong and do what you can, the Lord will take care of the rest.
I’m so sorry you experience these crisis in your life. I thought I had it bad😂. I’ve cared for my sister who shot herself in the head 42 years ago. She survived severely handicapped with her frontal lobe traumatic brain injury. I’m 75 and count the days to be freed from this because quite frankly, I”m tired. Yet, I push on because I know that only I can take care of her best and I love her my sister so much. I, too, stay up late. I spend that time praying, playing two games I enjoy and cleaning. It’s my life; I embrace it because it is what God is permitting right now. He’s not in heaven saying, damn I didn’t know that would happen to her. He works daily miracles in my life. He’s become my partner in this endeavor. I certainly hear all of your concerns, but ya know what? God’s got this. You don’t have to worry about most of it. It does no good. Submit your concerns to Jesus, and he will care to help you sort out what’s important. Ask Him to partner with you by taking it all. Seriously, do it!!!!! Then, in humility sit back and see what he leaves in your life. BTW: you sound quite functional to me. Be well - ASK Jesus to carry the load. We can’t act as if nothing bothers us. This stupid video is just that…bad advice which C.S. Lewis never said. God Bless you as you seek the Lord. He will be found. 🙏🏻😇
When a person finds themselves in such difficult situations that nothing that they can do can change the outcomes of the things ahead of them, the only other place to look is outside yourself. That is where a true deep and meaningful belief in Jehovah God and his promises, which are Guaranteed by Christ Jesus.. There is nothing else to lean on, only the truth of Jehovah, his promises and a hope for the future. That he guarantees, That he offers to all, that you can have, when you have nothing else. This cannot be taken away from you , no matter how bad things get, When Jehovah's Christian Witnesses were put in concentration camps in the 1930 before World War 2, The only hope they had was the promise of the kingdom that Jesus foretold. This is a real hope, a sure hope, it is not a fantasy, These are the promises made by the God who cannot lie... What do you do with them and that opportunity, when it comes to your door, is up to you.
It’s all about attitudes . Thanks for this video . As one of the apostles said: I have learned to be content and happy regardless of the circumstances . Praises to you Lord because you have equipped us with. power , courage and love to live a happy productive life.🙏👏
Not C.S Lewis. The language is all wrong, he never said this (the script is probably AI generated), and the voice is definitely AI generated. Spiritual teachings from a computer.
We don’t have the power to do this in our own human strength nor would I want to walk around pretending nothing is wrong, that just seems like a lie. I do believe in the power of prayer that when we pray to Jesus, he begins to fight our battles for us, but only when we ask. He knows what we need before we even ask, but we must have a relationship with him first and believe every prayer will be answered in HIS timing. I do know this becomes possible when you lay your worries down at Jesus feet. Jesus gives us this power through him and everything is possible if you believe and trust, praying without ceasing in Jesus name. He says, Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them ALL. Psalms 34:19 James 5:13 Is any of you afflicted? Let him pray.
You are so right but he clearly says that you're not acting like nothing is wrong you're not acting like a robot that's not what it is stating it's training your mind and your heart. You can still do that and be a Christ follower in fact I don't think that those two things are separate

I normally never comment or even look however I noticed the post that says I'm alone. Even when you feel so alone in this life. Just know that you never are. Jesus is our best friend 🙏, our heavenly Father, teacher, healer, and so much more. I accidentally came across this video the other day and figured why not. God is always good and it's up to us to learn to listen to what he has to teach us. No matter how weird it seems he's going to get the message across to us. It's pretty awesome the way he will do anything to help us grow or heal. God bless you and all of us in the life here. It's a great message. It's just up to us to let us take it and run with it. putting it on repeat to truly soak it all in and apply it to our lives. Or let our negatives always win. Instead of God. I am struggling too but it helps to know my conviction, ask for forgiveness, and know that tomorrow is a new day, and I can restart thanks to God's endless love and forgiveness.
I'm happy to see the name of Jesus at least mentioned in the comment. I wonder if this was really C.S. Lewis because I can't recall hearing at least once the mention of Jesus's Name in the video. This message is useful but my inner strength and positivity is nothing without Him. He is my strength and my joy. I just came from a walk with God and He reminded me whose I am and who I am because of the one Who lives in me. There is no other source of true Peace outside of YHWH in union with Mashiach. @kevinbarton Writing has a "fingerprint" to it. This is not the literary voice or conceptual baseline for Lewis. It is a bizarre homonculus using his likeness to speak words he would have been in opposition to. Its gross.
I enjoyed listening and agree that we can train ourselves to create this calmness in the face of all types of adversity. The problem see that has changed the way I respond at times is the ‘squeaky wheel’ syndrome and at times, particularly when it comes to business, the more feathers you ruffle, the more noise you make, the more aggressively you respond… the more likely you’re get the better outcome. I’ve experienced this and dismayed to say that the only way I managed to get the outcome I wanted was to show my fangs and horns.
I think often about the stresses Daniel and boys in exile must have faced, Joseph, Peter, Timothy, Paul, etc.... I have a feeling this is the warrior ways God formed then to be. But we must not be hard on ourselves this for sure is a process here in this flesh as we are trained soldiers for the Kingdom of God! ❤
These times are lonely times for many not just people like ourselves. Many who appear like they have many friends are mistaken drinking buddies as friends. Stop the drinking and many so called friends drift quietly away.

I admire the message about responding with grace and poise under pressure-it’s a strength we all need. But it made me wonder: can acting as if nothing bothers us ever lead to emotional suppression, or is it always a healthy practice?

Easier for some people than others. I ruminate and I was BORN a ruminator. I have to try extra hard not to and often I'm unsuccessful. I will keep practicing though. Some people seem to have this ability naturally. They're so passive and calm. I'm passive and calm until something happens and then...!!!! My whole body reacts the very second it happens. Not a single concrete example of how to express your feelings in a skillful way like he says you should do. Some people don't want to listen to reason no matter what you skillfully say and you have to do all the work to not only not lash out but especially to keep the situation from hurting you which is the ultimate goal. So, you don't get the satisfaction of revenge and your diplomacy gets you nothing. Great.

You are not the only one. Never give up, God's mercy is new every morning.
I don’t recall reading this from Lewis. This channel ought not place his name on something he never said. WARNING!! If this channel doesn’t site the source, don’t trust it. AI garbage and cheap tricks for views. If you like this, read his real work these videos are dirty rags in comparison.
It used to the words "emergency responders" which sounds out of place.
@@annex6 Same here.
Plenty of AI tells in this. Dishonesty is wrong. Adherence to and respect for objective reality is good/moral/right and required
Thanks!
Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?
The above is very true, but we must keep our focus on Jesus and away from the storms in our lives
Everyone who reads this, we don't know each other and probably never will but I wish you all the best in life and all the luck in the world!
I don't care whether he said it or not. This is excellent advice.
Right, so get it from the man who actually said it, Alan Watts.
I find peace in the prince of peace Jesus.
Amen to our beautiful king Jesus Christ!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Hi Bryan. Yes He is with us
Amen! Praise king Jesus.
I love these types of videos. They are so uplifting. Beloved Lord Jesus Christ bless all souls in pain.
That is not C.S Lewis
Who is this then?
@@kroot9966 I have no idea, but many of the expressions are totally modern and would never have been used in Lewis's time.
I’m at 0:58 seconds and was like- no. This is not CS
Reeks of AI.
It is the voice of Alan Watts, read by AI.
Start by not listing your stressors, instead count your blessings. We are all dying, it’s just a difference of what day it happens.
When a person finds themselves in such difficult situations that nothing that they can do can change the outcomes of the things ahead of them, the only other place to look is outside yourself. That is where a true deep and meaningful belief in Jehovah God and his promises, which are
Guaranteed by Christ Jesus..
Praises to you Lord because you have equipped us with. power , courage and love to live a happy productive life.🙏👏
This is not CS Lewis. This is AI DECEPTION.
They had me until I heard “catastrophizing” and “24 dash 7”
Deception woven into everything on this earth. Not C.S. Lewis.😢
I’m glad to hear it because the advice is stupid.
I guess as time goes on we can expect more fake stuff.
Is it Alan Watts?
How is the advice stupid? @@billyb4790
This message relies on self. Leaves out the the Trinity. It's AI. Rely on Jesus. He's the only way
it never mentioned any biblical backing therefore i agree with u...
This is not CS Lewis, we are living in the very horror he predicted in "that hideous strength" God is greater in all things.

Lack of control of our emotions is the downfall of humanity.
Not C.S Lewis. The language is all wrong, he never said this (the script is probably AI generated), and the voice is definitely AI generated. Spiritual teachings from a computer.
Totally agree. My first thought exactly.
Lol "24 slash 7" 😊 Still great advice.
God uses many channels to get the msg out. These are wise words.
that's missing the point though, the idea is that the title is misrepresenting the content. And overall misrepresenting the author altogether.
Good teaching, but it would be better with a real human narrator.
Psalms 34:19
James 5:13
Is any of you afflicted? Let him pray.
You are so right but he clearly says that you're not acting like nothing is wrong you're not acting like a robot that's not what it is stating it's training your mind and your heart. You can still do that and be a Christ follower in fact I don't think that those two things are separate
Amen!
This is the best ✨️🙏
Thank you for sharing this. In the future, please consider adding disclaimers about how the content was generated, its sources, and more factual information. We live in times where truth is often interwoven with deception, and messages full of truth can easily be dismissed. I use AI for research and alternative perspectives, and when I encounter something profound, like this creation, I enjoy sharing it with others. Remember, don’t let the pursuit of perfection overshadow something genuinely good. Thank you again for sharing.
I knew it wasn’t CS Lewis when he said something about a coffee order and “your truth” haha
He said “24 slash 7”. 😂

I normally never comment or even look however I noticed the post that says I'm alone.
Even when you feel so alone in this life.

I’m tired of the AI voice cloning they really doing it to Denzel Washington a lot I just go around muting those channels
How you know?
@kevinbarton Writing has a "fingerprint" to it. This is not the literary voice or conceptual baseline for Lewis. It is a bizarre homonculus using his likeness to speak words he would have been in opposition to.
Its gross.
So freaking wild
I think a giveaway was at around the 650 mark when he refers to Martin Luther King “J.R.”
Best .. very best advice ever.
A.I. Lewis was a smart man
I enjoyed listening and agree that we can train ourselves to create this calmness in the face of all types of adversity.
If this is AI generated, than it was put to good use. Very helpful for me what was said!!
Amazing!

My nonchalant mother is my source of inspiration
I think often about the stresses Daniel and boys in exile must have faced, Joseph, Peter, Timothy, Paul, etc....
I have a feeling this is the warrior ways God formed then to be.
But we must not be hard on ourselves this for sure is a process here in this flesh as we are trained soldiers for the Kingdom of God! ❤
These times are lonely times for many not just people like ourselves. Many who appear like they have many friends are mistaken drinking buddies as friends. Stop the drinking and many so called friends drift quietly away.

I think you might be correct about that, but how do you know for sure?
Because he said the letters , "J" "r" instead of Junior. A real person doesn't say the individual letters.
And at 0:15, "I know I have". He emphasizes the wrong word.

Nothing used to bother me till i hit around 15 years old. Then BAM! All the programming i absorbed over the years smashed me like a train and i havnt been the same since. All i do is worry now and its crippling.
I admire the message about responding with grace and poise under pressure-it’s a strength we all need. But it made me wonder: can acting as if nothing bothers us ever lead to emotional suppression, or is it always a healthy practice?
This is not C S Lewis. C S Lewis was a special man of God. Listeners should read the real Lewis and gain true wisdom and insight on the matter.
Rise Above Emotion into the Thinking of God. Every problem is math dont add Negativity to a Negativity situation
I think as we deepen our intimacy with Christ + the more peace lives within our hearts ❤and when you’re not…just call on Him and He will come.
One of the core concepts in Gita is detached karma. Do your duties without expectation of results. You are entitled to do your duties but not entitled to have results the way you want. If you understand that suffering goes down
Nothing bothers me lived two decades just in silence. True nature pops up in silence😂😅😂
Similar to the way a good soldier can keep his cool in the midst of battle. Thats how wars are won. Keeping your cool.
You can act as if nothing bothers you, but you will just be acting. It will still bother you.
There’s so much in this world that bothers me. Some of these things will bother me for as long as I live. But as for the small things, the trivial things, it bothers me that they bother me as much as they do.
Giving ourselves wholly to Christ is the only way to discover who we are, the only way to become who Christ means us to be, the only way to experience his riches in this life and the only way to fulfill the purpose for which he made us. It may seem frightening, but once you do it, your only regret will be that you didn’t do it sooner.
Excellent. Thank you 🙏
you don’t have to act. worry and fretting and stress is a choice. choose not to. there’s a part of you that observes negative emotions. that part is constant and doesn’t change. come back to the immutable observer when you need to

It’s called dishonesty. And the body doesn’t forget and the truth will come out one way or the other.
Excuse me, may I get by or can I get by? Just passing thru.
My adrenals and nervous system overreacts. This is definitely a big part of why I'm still single at 45. Never lived with a guy. Add that to being a highly sensitive person and having misophonia and low self esteem. Yeah...I'm a lost cause! 😢
Great.
Amen🙏🙏❤️PRAISE JESUS
